Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary Protectress of Africa

Holy Mary, Mother of God, Protectress of Africa, you have given to the world the true Light, Jesus Christ. Through your obedience to the Father and the grace of the Holy Spirit, you have given us the source of our reconciliation and our justice, Jesus Christ, our peace and our joy.

Mother of Tenderness and Wisdom, show us Jesus, your Son and the Son of God. Guide our path of conversion, so that Jesus might shine his glory on us in every aspect of our personal, familial and social lives.

Mother, full of Mercy and Justice, through your docility to the Spirit, the Counselor, obtain for us the grace to be witnesses of the Risen Lord, so that we will increasingly become the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

Mother of Perpetual Help, we entrust to your maternal intercession the preparation and fruits of the Second Special Assembly for Africa. Queen of Peace, pray for us! Our Lady of Africa, pray for us!

Yeshua
(Our Lord and Savior, Jesus, the Christ)

While Herod was still alive, He grew up in Hieropolis, outside of Old Cairo, Akebulan (Africa), until He was about age six or seven.

"Herod" was the name of several rulers, and included Herod Achaeleus.

And while the Apostles Peter (Cephas) and Paul went west:

Other Apostles Evangelize Africa

Matthew, Jude Thaddeus Lebbeus, John Mark (who died in Alexandria (Kemet/Egypt), Nathaniel Bartholomew, the Ethiopian Eunuch, and other apostles and disciples of Yeshua (Jesus) evangelized Africa.

But some evidence exists that St. Peter stopped and preached awhile in Africa (setting up the church in Babylon, Kemet (Egypt), mentoring his protégé, the African, St. Mark (Gospel of Mark). Mark became the first (arch) bishop of Alexandria, Kemet (Egypt). He also served as secretary to Paul, thus straddling two links in the early Church. More about this as facts are discovered in Vol. II.)

I am Mattai (Matthew Levi, also called the Evangelist). Alpheus and Mary were my parents. I spread the good news in Kemet, Ethiopia, Axum, (Abyssinia) for 23 years, (See Ruffin, The 12 Apostles, p.140). In battling two magicians, Zaroes and Arfaxat, through the power of Jesus Christ, I raised the son of King Aeglippus from dead. The magicians were forced to flee to what is now Iran.

I visited my Jewish brethren in Kemet and I am connected with the tradition/history of Abadias.

I preached to the Hebrews and wrote a Gospel for them in Aramaic before I continued my missionary work. In Africa, I was called apostle to the Ethiopians (Greek for “burnt faces”).

I was stoned and crucified downwards in Hierapolis, then beheaded. I am not black, as the term is understood, but I ministered in Africa, and so affiliated.

I am Simon Zelotes. From the bishop of Tyre and theologian, Dorotheus, traditions holds that I preached in Mauritania, Kemet, Libya, before going to Britain.

The Coptic Church chronicles my travels in Kemet, and other parts of Akebulan (Africa), including what is now Tunisia, Mauretania Caesariensis (partly Morocco and Algeria). The Apostles, p. 146, puts Simon Zelotes in Mauritania, Kemet, and Libya.

I am Jude Thaddeus (LEBBEUS)

Traditionally my evangelizing in Africa answered a letter received from the King of Axum, Abgar, the Black, by my cousin, Yeshua. But Jesus was on the way to the crucifixion. (Some say the actions took place in between Tigris and Euphrates). I also evangelized in India and what is now Burma.

I am Phillip. I evangelized in Ethiopia and other parts of Africa. Traditionally, I am shown preaching in Carthage (now found in present-day Tunisia, Libya).

An Ethiopian Orthodox Church tradition shows its apostolic succession is from me. I consecrated as a bishop, the Ethiopian Eunuch Finance minister of the Kandake (the warrior Queen Candace).

I am Nathaniel bar Tomai (Bartholomew). I evangelized in Central India, as well an area you would now consider black, and I preached in Kemet, according to Eusebius.

I am Thomas Didymus (The Twin). I founded the Church in what is now Beijing, China. I preached in India. The explorer, Marco Polo, prayed at my tomb in Malabar Province. Many of the priests and bishops designated Mar find their apostolic succession from me.

I am JoHn Mark (Mark). I am called the evangelist. Martyred in or near Alexandria, Kemet (or dying there) see the New American Bible preface on section of John Mark.

REPOST

Medjugorje Day By Day May 07 - Live my messages

"What is most beautiful and most noble on earth . . . is worth nothing, is nothing and less than nothing, compared with this God of mine!—of yours!
Infinite treasure, most beautiful pearl . . . humbled, become a slave, reduced to nothingness in a form of a servant in the stable where he willed to be born . . . in Joseph's workshop, in his passion and in his ignominious death, and in the frenzy of Love—the blessed Eucharist!" (St. Josemaria Escriva).

"Contemplate Jesus lying in His Crib, wrapped in the might of divine peace and redemptive suffering. Mary, kneeling, enraptured, in ecstasy, watches over the Child, over the Eternal One. She meditates on another Bethlehem, on quite another Crib, a crib of apparent repose, but of real and perpetual immolation, the Altar" (Fr. Mateo Crawley-Boevey).

Mother Teresa
Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.

Meditations by Padre Pio -
Oh Mary, sweet Mother of priests, mediatrix and administratrix of all graces, from the bottom of my heart I beg and implore you to thank Jesus, the fruit of thy womb, today, tomorrow and forever.

Archbishop Fulton Sheen

We can accept or reject our crosses, but we can't avoid them
"There are only two things we can do with crosses - carry them or kick against them. We can merge them in God's plan for life and thus make them serve our inner peace and happiness, or we can stumble over them to the glen of weeping. Selfishness is the cause of much mental sickness; otherness, sympathy, forgiveness and self-discipline are the cure."

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html -

In order to purify a soul, Jesus uses whatever instruments He likes. My soul underwent a complete abandonment on the part of creatures; often my best intentions were misinterpreted by the sisters, a type of suffering which is most painful; but God allows it, and we must accept it because in this way we become more like Jesus. There was one thing which I could not understand for a long time: Jesus ordered me to tell everything to my Superiors, but my Superiors did not believe what I said and treated me with pity as though I were being deluded or were imagining things.

Because of this, believing myself to be deluded, I resolved to avoid God interiorly for fear of these illusions. But the grace of God pursued me at every step, and God spoke to me when I least expected it. (38)

At the beginning of my religious life, suffering and adversities frightened and disheartened me. So I prayed continuously, asking Jesus to strengthen me and to grant me the power of His Holy Spirit that I might carry out His holy will in all things, because from the beginning I have been aware of my weakness.

I know very well what I am of myself, because for this purpose Jesus has opened the eyes of my soul; I am an abyss of misery, and hence I understand that whatever good there is in my soul consists solely of His holy grace. The knowledge of my own misery allows me, at the same time, to know the immensity of Your mercy. In my own interior life, I am looking with one eye at the abyss of my misery and baseness, and with the other, at the abyss of Your mercy, O God. (56)

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY

These thoughts for a day are taken from a daily meditation book based on the Messages of Our Lady of Medjugorje by Father Richard J. Beyer, Ave Maria Press.

May 7 - LIVE MY MESSAGES

Our Lady speaks of priorities today:

"Dear children, today I am calling you to accept and live my messages. Dear children, I love you and have especially chosen this parish, more dear to me than others, where I have gladly remained after the Almighty sent me.

Therefore, I call on you to accept me, dear children, so that everything will go well in your lives. Listen to my messages (Weekly Messages March 21,1985).

In Matthew's gospel, Christ also speaks of priorities:

Therefore do not worry, saying, "What shall we eat? " or "What will we drink?" or "What will we wear?" For it is the Gentiles who strive for all these things; and indeed your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. So strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Mt 6:31-33).

Reflection:

Mom was left behind when a nervous husband rushed to the hospital recently in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The father had called police to ask for help in getting his expectant wife to the hospital in a hurry. A patrol car was dispatched to meet the emergency. But after speeding through the city, with police clearing the way, the overanxious husband suddenly discovered that he had left his wife at home. Together with the officer he wheeled around and hastened back to the starting point, picked up his wife and resumed the flight to the hospital.

In the rush of daily living it is easy to get excited about incidentals and to overlook essentials. This is why the Madonna urges that we first live her messages before all else-that we put first things first. It is the same message of Christ in the gospels: "Seek first his kingdom and his justice, and all these things will be given to you besides."

Application:

Today, take a few minutes to reflect on the priorities in your life. Your use of time for various activities is a good measure.

Medjugorje Day By Day May 02 - Pray the rosary

"Let us beseech the Lord to reawaken in us the joy at his presence and that we may once more adore him. Without adoration, there is no transformation of the world" (Pope Benedict XVI).

Meditations by Padre Pio -
Listen, dear Mother, I love you more than all the creatures on earth and in Heaven, after Jesus, of course... but I love you.

Archbishop Fulton Sheen
True sincerity brings out the truth and, as we know, the Truth shall set you free!
"The sincere are those who have an ensemble of virtues, who are equally good at speaking and listening; who have silences, as well as words; who are not opaque like curtains, but transparent like window panes. They speak, knowing that one day they will have to be judged by God and obliged to give `an account of every idle word.' That makes them love the Truth and because they love it, they are always kind and charitable."

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html -

Toward the end of the first year of my novitiate, darkness began to cast its shadow over my soul. I felt no consolation in prayer; I had to make a great effort to meditate; fear began to sweep over me. Going deeper into myself, I could find nothing but great misery. I could also clearly see the great holiness of God. I did not dare to raise my eyes to Him, but reduced myself to dust under His feet and begged for mercy. My soul was in this state for almost six months. Our beloved Mother Directress [Mary Joseph] encouraged me in these difficult moments. But this suffering became greater and greater.

The second year of the novitiate was approaching. Whenever I recalled that I was to make my vows, my soul shuddered. I did not understand what I was reading; I could not meditate; it seemed to me that my prayer was displeasing to God. It seemed to me that by approaching the Holy Sacraments I was offending God even more. But despite this, my confessor [Father Theodore] did not let me omit one single Holy Communion. God was working very strangely in my soul. I did not understand anything at all of what my confessor was telling me. The simple truths of the faith became incomprehensible to me. My soul was in anguish, unable to find comfort anywhere. (23a)

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY

These thoughts for a day are taken from a daily meditation book based on the Messages of Our Lady of Medjugorje by Father Richard J. Beyer, Ave Maria Press.

May 2 - PRAY THE ROSARY

Today the Gospa speaks of prayer and the rosary:

"Dear Children, your prayer has helped my plans to be fulfilled. Pray continually for their complete fulfillment. I beseech the families of the parish to pray the rosary." (Weekly Message September 27, 1984).

Prayer is also on Paul's mind in his letter to Philemon:

When I remember you in my prayers, I always thank my God because I hear of your love for all the saints and your faith toward the Lord Jesus. I pray that the sharing of your faith May become effective when you perceive all the good that we May do for Christ. Psalm 1: 4-6

Reflection:

In reflecting on the mysteries of the rosary each day, we are gradually changed into the likeness of Christ. Just as people who have been married for a long time sometimes acquire each other's characteristics, so we acquire the mind and heart of Jesus Christ as we meditate on his life through the rosary.

"The Hail Marys of the rosary," writes Fr. Albert Shannon, "are like background music while you are watching Our Lord's life. Background music helps us when reading and working. We don't pay much attention to the music, but it helps us."

Application:

Today, pray the Rosary slowly and meditatively; if you have any literature with the mysteries depicted, use it as a visual aid in staying focused.

Medjugorje Day By Day May 05 -The great love God has for you

The Holy Eucharist must be "at the center of every pastoral plan . . . it builds the Church as authentic community of the People of God and always regenerates it on the basis of the sacrifice of Christ himself." "Above all, I invite you, dear families, to make reference to the Eucharist, as you are called to support your children in the path of preparation to the sacraments of Christian initiation and to follow them in adolescence and beyond, so that, growing, they will faithfully carry out the mission that God has reserved for them" (Pope John Paul II, March 8, 2004).

Meditations by Padre Pio -
May Mary be the reason of your existence and guide you to the safe harbor of eternal salvation. May she be your gentle model and your source of inspiration in the virtue of humility.

Archbishop Fulton Sheen

The self-destruction of self-will

"The will that always insists on having its own way, begins to hate its own way. Those who live only for self begins to hate self. self is too narrow, confining and dark a sanctuary for happy adoration."
You can't have it both ways. Either you're pro-life or not. Pro-choice is not an alternative!

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html -

One day, just as I had awakened, when I was putting myself in the presence of God, I was suddenly overwhelmed by despair. Complete darkness in the soul. I fought as best I could till noon. In the afternoon, truly deadly fears began to seize me; my physical strength began to leave me. I went quickly to my cell, fell on my knees before the Crucifix and began to cry out for mercy.

But Jesus did not hear my cries. I felt my physical strength leave me completely. I fell to the ground, despair flooding my whole soul. I suffered terrible tortures in no way different from the torments of hell. I was in this state for three quarters of an hour. I wanted to go and see the Directress, but was too weak, I wanted to shout but I had no voice. Fortunately, one of the sisters [another novice, Sister Placida Putyra] came into my cell. Finding me in such a strange condition, she immediately told the Directress about it. Mother came at once.

As soon as she entered the cell she said, "In the name of holy obedience get up from the ground." Immediately some force raised me up from the ground and I stood up, close to the dear Mother Directress. With kindly words she began to explain to me that this was a trial sent to me by God, saying, "Have great confidence; God is always our Father, even when He sends us trials. " (24a)

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY

These thoughts for a day are taken from a daily meditation book based on the Messages of Our Lady of Medjugorje by Father Richard J. Beyer, Ave Maria Press.

MAY 5 - THE GREAT LOVE GOD HAS FOR YOU

The Madonna speaks of love today:

Dear children, today I call you to a complete surrender to God. You are not conscious, dear children, of the great love God has for you. This is why he has allowed me to be with you, to teach and help you to find the way to peace. But you cannot find it if you do not pray.

Therefore, dear children, forsake everything and consecrate your time to God, for then he will bestow gifts upon you and bless you.

Little children, do not forget that your life is fleeting like a spring flower, which today is wondrously beautiful, but tomorrow has vanished. Therefore, pray in such away that your prayer, as well as your surrender to God, maybe be come like a road sign. In this way your witness will not only have value for yourself, but also for others and for all eternity [MM 3-25-88].

In his great love for us, God will deny us nothing which is good:

Ask, and it will be given you, search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be open for you. For everyone who asks, receives, and everyone who searches, finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

Is there anyone among you who, if your child asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if the child asks for a fish, would you give a snake? If you then, who are sinful, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in Heaven give good things to those who ask him! [Matthew 7:7- 11].

Reflection:

The heart of God overflows with a kindness and generosity beyond our understanding, which is the core of Our Lady's message today: "You dear children, are not conscious of the great love God has for you." Because of this, he can deny us nothing that is good, if we but seek it in prayer: "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find."

Like a father giving bread to his son, God's power and gifts are available to all his children. The key is prayer; as the Gospa says, "consecrate your time to God, and then he will bestow gifts upon you and bless you."

Application:

Today, offer the rosary for the intention that God provide = for all your needs, and that you may more deeply understand his love.

SHORT POWERFUL PRAYER THROUGH ST. JOSEPH

"Glorious St. Joseph, tenderhearted father, faithful
guardian of Jesus, chaste spouse of the Mother of
God, I ask you to join me in praising God the Father
through His Divine Son who died on the cross and
rose again to give us sinners new life. Through the
Holy Name of Jesus, pray with me that we may obtain
from the eternal Father the favor we ask. (here
state your intention)."

Say this prayer for nine consecutive days.

Fear not! God is your shelter (the 23rd Psalm and the Lord’s Prayer. God never fails). Don’t fail him. Call on Jesus. Jesus on the mainline, tell him what you want!
