Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary Protectress of Africa

Holy Mary, Mother of God, Protectress of Africa, you have given to the world the true Light, Jesus Christ. Through your obedience to the Father and the grace of the Holy Spirit, you have given us the source of our reconciliation and our justice, Jesus Christ, our peace and our joy.

Mother of Tenderness and Wisdom, show us Jesus, your Son and the Son of God. Guide our path of conversion, so that Jesus might shine his glory on us in every aspect of our personal, familial and social lives.

Mother, full of Mercy and Justice, through your docility to the Spirit, the Counselor, obtain for us the grace to be witnesses of the Risen Lord, so that we will increasingly become the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

Mother of Perpetual Help, we entrust to your maternal intercession the preparation and fruits of the Second Special Assembly for Africa. Queen of Peace, pray for us! Our Lady of Africa, pray for us!

"It is time to receive the New Pentecost

FATHER MELVIN DOUCETTE

"It is time to receive the New Pentecost"

Thursday, May 21, 2009

Dear Friends,

Rules of Order

So what is to be done, brothers? When you assemble, one has a psalm, another an instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything should be done for building up. If anyone speaks in a tongue, let it be two or at most three, and each in turn, and one should interpret. But if there is no interpreter, the person should keep silent in the church and speak to himself and to God.

Two or three prophets should speak, and the others discern. But if a revelation is given to another person sitting there, the first one should be silent. For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be encouraged. Indeed, the spirits of prophets are under the prophets control, since he is not the God of disorder but of peace.1 Cor14:26:33

Our Lord and Our Savior gave a message to Joseph. Jesus spoke to him in these words,
The many gifts that My followers receive through the Holy Spirit are to be used in a proper way. When you assemble to pray, each one is to come with a contribution to build up the church. One comes with a reading from the Bible, another comes with a teaching about an aspect of the faith, another with a revelation that is in conformity with the Bible, another can speak in tongue and another can interpret what was said in tongue.

Prophecy is very important at such prayer meetings. It shows that the Holy Spirit is present and He has a word for the assembly. Listen attentively to these prophetic words for they are a teaching for you. The Holy Spirit uses any person He wants to bring His word to the group.

Usually when one is a prophet, he or she will remain a prophet. The Church I founded has to be filled with the Holy Spirit and He has to touch all the members of the Church. If a person is not opened to the Spirit, he or she is like a dead member. It is time to wake up and to receive the New Pentecost that the Father and I are sending throughout the world. How I wish that all believers were renewed by the power of the Holy Spirit. Pray that the New Pentecost may touch everyone.

Father Melvin
P.S. The next message will be on Tuesday next week.

FATHER MELVIN DOUCETTE

"Cherish these gifts"

Wednesday, May 20, 2009

Dear Friends,

Functions of These Gifts

Brothers and sisters, stop being childish in your thinking. In respect to evil be like infants, but in your thinking be mature. It is written in the law:
By people speaking strange tongues and by the lips of foreigners
I will speak to this people, and even so they will not listen to me,
says the Lord.

Thus, tongues are a sign not for those who believe but for unbelievers, whereas prophecy is not for unbelievers but for those who believe. So, if the whole church meets in one place and everyone speaks in tongues, and then uninstructed people or unbelievers should come in, will they not say that you are out of your minds? But if everyone is prophesying, and an unbeliever or uninstructed person should come in, he will be convinced by everyone and judged by everyone, and the secrets of his heart will be disclosed, and so he will fall down and worship God, declaring, ‘God is really in your midst.’1 Cor 14:20:25

Here is a message of Our Lord and Savior given to Joseph. Jesus spoke to him these words, By the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, many gifts were received by those present. Two of these gifts are speaking in tongues and prophecy.

These are great gifts, which help build up the Church. Speaking in tongues expresses the words of the Holy Spirit but no one understands what is spoken unless there is somebody present who can interpret these words. When a prophecy is given in tongues, it is important to wait until someone interprets this prophecy. Speaking in tongues is a sign for unbelievers but prophecy is a sign for believers.

Prophecy shows that the power of God is present and the words given are for the strengthening of the believers. These prophetic words will remind them of My love for them and call them to follow Me more faithfully. These words can reveal to them something that no one knows. They can make known the problems and difficulties a person is going through and that I am there to help them. Cherish these gifts.

Father Melvin

Medjugorje Day By Day May 21 - CHANGE YOUR HEARTS

"Today I am suffering; I need beneficent balsam to heal the wounds of my soul; and Jesus in the Holy Eucharist is the precious balm poured forth upon them" (Fr. Hermann Cohen).

"To attract souls and transform them into Himself through love, Christ has revealed His own infinite love, His own Heart inflamed by love for souls, a love that impelled Him to mount the Cross, to remain with us in the Eucharist and to enter our souls and to leave us in testament His own Mother as our Mother" (St. Maximilian Kolbe).

Let people know

Mother Teresa
Good works are links that form a chain of love.

Meditations by Padre Pio -
May 21 Do your best to conform always and in everything to the will of God, in all eventualities, and do not fear. This is the sure path to heaven.

Archbishop Fulton Sheen

We don't know how good we have it until we lose it!
"Picture two men married to two old shrews. One man was married before to a beautiful, wise, devoted wife who died. The other was never married before. Which of the two suffers more? Obviously, the man who once knew love and happiness. So it is with doing evil. He who has known the inner peace of soul that comes from union with God undergoes greater agony and torture in his sin than the one who never was ushered into such treasures. The rich who become poor suffer more than the poor who never were rich. The soul which offends God Whom he loves suffers more than the soul who willed not to have God in his life

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html -
Today, Jesus entered my room wearing a bright robe and girded with a golden belt, His whole figure resplendent with great majesty. He said, My daughter, why are you giving in to thoughts of fear? I answered, "O Lord, You know why."

And He said, Why? "This work frightens me. You know that I am incapable of carrying it out." And He said, Why? "You see very well that I am not in good health, that I have no education, that I have no money, that I am an abyss of misery, that I fear contacts with people. Jesus, I desire only You. You can release me from this."

And the Lord said to me, My daughter, what you have said is true. You are very miserable, and it pleased Me to carry out this work of mercy precisely through you who are nothing but misery itself.

Do not fear; I will not leave you alone. Do whatever you can in this matter; I will accomplish everything that is lacking in you. You know what is within your power to do; do that. The Lord looked into the depth of my being with great kindness; I thought I would die for joy under that gaze.

The Lord disappeared, and joy, strength and power to act remained in my soul. But I was surprised that the Lord did not want to release me and that He is not changing anything He has once said. And despite all these joys, there is always a shadow of sorrow. I see that love and sorrow go hand in hand. (881)

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY
These thoughts for a day are taken from a daily meditation book based on the Messages of Our Lady of Medjugorje by Father Richard J. Beyer, Ave Maria Press.

May 21 - CHANGE YOUR HEARTS

The Mother of God speaks of conversion today:

Dear Children, today I ask you to begin working on your hearts as you have been working in the fields. Work and change your hearts so that the new Spirit of God can dwell in them (Weekly Message April 25, 1985).

Christ speaks of conversion as a "new birth" through water and the Spirit:

Jesus answered him, "Very truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above."

Nicodemus said to him, "How can anyone be born after having grown old? Can one enter a second time into the mother's womb and be born?" Jesus answered, "Very truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit." (Jn3:3-6).

Reflection:

What did Nicodemus know about the kingdom? From scripture he knew it would be ruled by God, it would be restored on earth, and it would incorporate God's people. Christ revealed to this devout Pharisee that the kingdom would come to the whole world, not just to the Jews, and that Nicodemus would not be a part of it unless he was personally born again. This was a revolutionary concept; the kingdom was personal, not national or ethnic, and its entrance requirements were conversion and spiritual rebirth.

Christ also taught that God's kingdom had already begun in the hearts of believers through the presence of the Holy Spirit. It will be fully realized when he returns again and abolishes evil forever.

Application:

Today Our Lady calls us to: "Work and change your hearts so that the new Spirit of God can dwell in them," Let us pray for the insight and grace to do just that.

Medjugorje Day By Day May 22 - CONSECRATE YOURSELVES TO THE CROSS

"St. Gregory Nazianzen coined a formula which applies directly to the Word
Incarnate dwelling among us sacramentally: 'Eternal Wisdom became man in our midst in order to say to every one of us: 'Go to the Trinity!'" (Fr. Richard Foley, S.J.).

Mother Teresa - CROSS

Peace begins with a smile

Meditations by Padre Pio -
May 22 You are not unaware of the fact that I desired to die and love God; either death of love, given that life without this love is worse than death. Oh my daughter, help me! I am dying and in agony at all times.

Everything seems to be a dream to me, and I don't know where I am wandering. Dear God! When will the time come can when I, too, can sing: "Is this my rest, oh God in eternity?"

Archbishop Fulton Sheen -
No wonder psychology is such a booming business!
"In the good soul, the effect of doing evil can lead to moral understanding and being repentant. In the evil soul, the effect is physical and psychological. It shows less in the soul and more in the mind and the body. The moral effect is sorrow, contrition, repentance, which leads to a restoration of fellowship with God and therefore peace. The physical and psychological effect is anxiety, fear, worry, psychoses and neuroses. The good take to their knees when they do wrong; the evil, if they have money enough, betake themselves to a couch. The good want their sins forgiven; the evil want them explained away."

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html -
My Jesus, support me when difficult and stormy days come, days of testing, days of ordeal, when suffering and fatigue begin to oppress my body and my soul.

Sustain me, Jesus, and give me strength to bear suffering. Set a guard upon my lips that they may address no word of complaint to creatures. Your most merciful Heart is all my hope. I have nothing for my defense but only Your mercy; in it lies all my trust. (1065)

Although the temptations are strong, a whole wave of doubts beats against my soul, and discouragement stands by, ready to enter into the act, the Lord, however, strengthens my will, against which all the attempts of the enemy are shattered as if against a rock. I see how many actual graces God grants me; these support me ceaselessly. I am very weak, and I attribute everything solely to the grace of God. (1086)

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY
These thoughts for a day are taken from a daily meditation book based on the Messages of Our Lady of Medjugorje by Father Richard J. Beyer, Ave Maria Press.

May 22 - CONSECRATE YOURSELVES TO THE CROSS

The Virgin speaks of the cross today:

Pray before the cross, for special graces come from it. Consecrate yourselves to the cross and do not blaspheme either Jesus or the cross. (Special Message June 29,1986).

And from Luke's gospel, Christ gives his life for us upon the cross:

It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, while the sun's light failed; and the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Then Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, "Father, into your hands I commend my spirit." Having said this, he breathed his last. (Lk 23 :44-46).

Reflection:

Darkness covered the whole land for three hours at midday. All nature seemed to mourn over the stark tragedy of the death of the Son of God. In the midst of this darkness, the curtain in the Temple, separating the Holy of Holies from the holy place, was torn in two, an event which symbolized the meaning of the cross.

The Temple had 3 parts: the courtyard area the holy place, where only priests could enter; and the Holy of Holies, where the high priest alone could enter once a year to atone for the sins of the people.

It was in the Holy of Holies that The Ark of the Covenant, the symbol of God's presence, rested. The curtain that split was the one that closed off the Holy of Holies form view. At Christ's death, the barrier between God and man was torn apart. Now all people are able to approach God directly through Christ.

Application:

Our Lady asks us to, "Pray before the cross. Consecrate yourselves to the cross." Today, with a crucifix in your hands, make this consecration.

Jesus Explains Life And Death

Today I spent time alone with Jesus in adoration. There I prayed for all those with special needs and intentions. I made small offerings to Jesus and Mary and prayed.

On my knees I asked Jesus to only allow my mind's eye to see that which comes from Him. And that my heart would only hear words that were from His heart to ours.

I prayed; Speak Lord, Your servant listens.

I began to see a trellis high above my head and I saw clouds. The trellis was supporting beautiful yellow roses. I know that the yellow rose signifies friendship.

Then Jesus spoke saying; When the rose dies and falls to the ground, it fertilizes the earth. For everything that is made by God has a purpose in life and after death. Go in peace to love and serve the Lord. Continue to pray for your brothers and sisters. Amen.

Note: If anyone knows what the yellow rose signifies in the Catholic church, please share that with us.

Fair use, 17 U.S.C. for those in the African Diaspora who would otherwise not be exposed to such.

SHORT POWERFUL PRAYER THROUGH ST. JOSEPH

"Glorious St. Joseph, tenderhearted father, faithful
guardian of Jesus, chaste spouse of the Mother of
God, I ask you to join me in praising God the Father
through His Divine Son who died on the cross and
rose again to give us sinners new life. Through the
Holy Name of Jesus, pray with me that we may obtain
from the eternal Father the favor we ask. (here
state your intention)."

Say this prayer for nine consecutive days.

Fear not! God is your shelter (the 23rd Psalm and the Lord’s Prayer. God never fails). Don’t fail him. Call on Jesus. Jesus on the mainline, tell him what you want!
