9 OCT DIRE WARNINGS AND PROPHECIES FOR THE AFRICAN DIASPORA

Medjugorje Day By Day Oct 10 - PRAY THAT YOUR LIVES BENEFIT ALL

"This Fountain [of the Holy Eucharist] is a fountain of light, shedding abundant rays of truth. And beside it the angelic powers from on high have taken their stand, gazing on the beauty of its streams, since they perceive more clearly than we the power of what lies before us and its unapproachable dazzling rays" (St. John Chrysostom).

Respect Life Sunday
"Many problems darken the horizon of our time. We need but think of the
urgent need to work for peace, to base relationships between peoples on solid premises of justice and solidarity, and to defend human life from conception to its natural end. And what should we say of the thousand inconsistencies of a 'globalized' world where the weakest, the most powerless and the poorest appear to have so little hope! It is in this world that Christian hope must shine forth! For this reason too, the Lord wished to remain with us in the Eucharist, making his presence in meal and sacrifice the promise of a humanity renewed by his love" (Pope John Paul II, Ecclesia de Eucharistia, 20).

Mother Teresa -
It doesn't matter because I belong so totally to Him that He can do just what He wants to do with me.

Meditations by Padre Pio - Be tranquil as far as your soul is concerned. Confide totally, more and more, in Jesus. Make an effort to unite yourself always and in everything to Divine Will, both in happy and sad events, and don't worry about the future.

Archbishop Fulton Sheen -
Two kinds of truth
"There are two kinds of truth; speculative and practical. Speculative truth is the truth of knowing, such as comes to us from philosophy, mechanics, physics and chemistry. Practical truth, however, is concerned with doing and living, such as ethics and morals."

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html -
Once, the Image was being exhibited over the altar during the Corpus Christi procession [June 20, 1935]. When the priest exposed the Blessed Sacrament, and the choir began to sing, the rays from the Image pierced the Sacred Host and spread out all over the world. Then I heard these words: These rays of mercy will pass through you, just as they have passed through this Host, and they will go out through all the world. At these words, profound joy invaded my soul. (441)
Once when my confessor [Father Sopocko] was saying Mass, I saw, as usual, the Child Jesus on the altar, from the time of the Offertory. However, a moment before the Elevation, the priest vanished from my sight, and Jesus alone remained. When the moment of the Elevation approached, Jesus took the Host and the chalice in His little hands and raised them together, looking up to heaven, and a moment later I again saw my confessor. I asked the Child Jesus where the priest had been during the time I had not seen him. Jesus answered, In My Heart. But I could not understand anything more of these words of Jesus. (442)

Quote of the Day The pure soul is a beautiful rose, and the Three Divine Persons descend from Heaven to inhale its fragrance. -St. John Vianney
Today's Tidbit Friar is the term used to refer to the male members of mendicant orders, such as Franciscans, to distinguish them from members of monastic orders. Friars are also referred to as brothers.

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY

Oct 10 - PRAY THAT YOUR LIVES BENEFIT ALL
Today Our Lady asks that our lives be an example of good for others:
Dear children, I invite you to pray with the heart so that your prayer may be a true conversation with God.
I ask that each one of you dedicate more time to God, for Satan is strong and wants to deceive you in many ways. Therefore, dear children, pray every day that your lives be a source of goodness not only for your own benefit, but also for all those you meet I am with you and I am protecting you even though Satan wants to destroy my plans and all that the heavenly Father wishes to accomplish here (Monthly Message September 25, 1990.)
And at the Last Supper, Jesus sets an example for his apostles:
After he had washed their feet, had put on his robe, and had returned to the table, he said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you? You call me teacher and Lord and you are right, for that is what I am. So if I, your Lord and teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have set you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you?" (Jn 13 :12-15).
Reflection:
Application:
Today, try to be especially aware of your influence on others, and the kind of influence Our Lord and his Mother would like you to be

Medjugorje Day By Day Oct 09 - MANY HAVE BEGUN BUT THEY FORGET

"God waits for us. ... In this very moment when we are celebrating the Eucharist, when we are inaugurating the Synod on the Eucharist, He comes to meet us.
... Will this find a reply? Or does it happen with us as with the vineyard, about which God says in Isaiah: 'He expected it to yield fine grapes; wild grapes were all it yielded'? Is our Christian life often not perhaps rather vinegar than wine? Is it self-pity, conflict, indifference?" (Pope Benedict XVI, Oct. 2, 2005).

"Before . . . Christ glorified and enthroned, let everyone fall to their
knees in adoration" (Pope John Paul II, August 18, 2004).

Mother Teresa -
And this is just a simple way for us to be holy.

Meditations by Padre Pio - I beg you not to worry about what I am suffering at present and will suffer in the future. No matter how severe this suffering is, when it is placed before the good that awaits us, it is always a delight for the soul.

Archbishop Fulton Sheen -
Pride is the child of ignorance
"Our hatred of a person often decreases as we learn to know him better. A boy graduating from high school is generally not as humble as when he graduates from medical school. At eighteen he thought he knew it all; at twenty-eight he feels himself ignorant in the face of the medical science he has yet to acquire. So it is with God. Because we do not pray or contemplate or love Him, we become vain and proud; but when we know Him better we feel a deep sense of dependence which tempers our false independence. Pride is the child of ignorance, humility the offspring of knowledge."

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html -
Often during Mass, I see the Lord in my soul; I feel His presence which pervades my being. I sense His divine gaze; I have long talks with Him without saying a word; I know what His divine Heart desires, and I always do what will please Him the most. I love Him to distraction, and I feel that I am being loved by God. At those times when I meet with God deep within myself, I feel so happy that I do not know how to express it. Such moments are short, for the soul could not bear it for long, as separation from the body would be inevitable. Though these moments are very short, their power, however, which is transmitted to the soul, remains with it for a very long time. Without the least effort, I experience the profound recollection which then envelops me-and it does not diminish even if I talk with people, nor does it interfere with the performance of my duties. I feel the constant presence of God without any effort of my soul. I know that I am united with Him as closely as a drop of water is united with the bottomless ocean. (411)
When I was attending Mass in a certain church with another sister, I felt the greatness and majesty of God; I felt the church was permeated by God. His majesty enveloped me and, though it terrified me, it filled me with peace and joy. I knew that nothing could oppose His will. Oh, if only all souls knew who is living in our churches, there would not be so many outrages and so much disrespect in these holy places! (409)

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY
Oct 9 - MANY HAVE BEGUN BUT THEY FORGET
Decrying the lack of perseverance of some, the Madonna once said :
Many have begun to pray for healing here at Medjugorje, but when they return to their homes, they abandon prayer, forget, and also lose many graces (Special Messages September 12, 1986).
Paul also exhorts us to persevere :
Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the holy ones (Eph 6:18)
Reflection:
The virtue of perseverance is exemplified in the life of a man who went blind at the age of three, in the year 1812. When he was old enough, he was sent to a school for the blind in Paris, which was near to his village. There Louis was taught to read by touching large raised letters of the alphabet with his fingers.
He was so successful that he soon found himself teaching others to read by the same method.
But it was not easy. Some people just could not do it, so he determined to invent another method by which blind people could read. He worked and persevered for many a long hour to try to perfect a special alphabet for the blind. When Louis Braille was 20 years old he succeeded.
Application:
"Great works are performed not by strength" wrote Samuel Johnson, "but by perseverance." It is a great Christian virtue, as both Christ and Our Lady attest in our readings.
Today, and especially when you feel drained or weakened, pray for perseverance.

Medjugorje Day By Day Oct 08 - DISCOVER HIS WILL FOR YOU
"I thirst for Heaven and for the Eucharist. I thirst for love. I thirst for
you who are the Life of my life. I thirst for you who are as an Ocean of
hope to me, a river to bring me infinite graces, the profound source of the
science of the Cross, and the spring of every consolation and the fountain of all
that is pure" Concepcion Cabrera de Armida, Servant of God).

Mother Teresa -
Total surrender to God must come in small details just as it comes in big details. It's nothing but that single word, " Yes, I accept whatever you give, and I give whatever you take. "

Meditations by Padre Pio - I have nothing to complain of in particular, except this bitter agitation of your, which prevents you from tasting al the sweetness of the cross. Correct this, and continue to do what you have been doing so well up to now.

Archbishop Fulton Sheen - Though He Who was rich became poor for our sake, yet He would not be an earthly king by force. A poor blind man could stop Him on the roadway to be cured of his blindness, but not all the masses with their universal acclaim and suffrage could make Him king. Then He laid His finger on their error, `You seek Me not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were satisfied' (John 6: 26). They sought Him not for the higher part of their being, but for their stomachs; not for His morality, but for their economics; not for His saving grace, but because of the dormancy of the spiritual in their souls."
Beware of those who promise the world!
"When loaves are more valued than the Divine Power Which multiplied them; when streams are more admired than the fountains that produced them, the world will accept any kind of a king who promises bread and plenty."

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html -
Jesus likes to intervene in the smallest details of our life, and He often fulfills secret wishes of mine that I sometimes hide from Him, although I know that from Him nothing can be hidden. There is a custom among us of drawing by lot, on New Year's Day, special Patrons for ourselves for the whole year. In the morning during meditation, there arose within me a secret desire that the Eucharistic Jesus be my special Patron for this year also, as in the past. But, hiding this desire from my Beloved, I spoke to Him about everything else but that. When we came to refectory for breakfast, we blessed ourselves and began drawing our patrons. When I approached the holy cards on which the names of the patrons were written, without hesitation I took one, but I didn't read the name immediately as I wanted to mortify myself for a few minutes. Suddenly, I heard a voice in my soul: I am your patron. Read. I looked at once at the inscription and read, "Patron for the year 1935-the Most Blessed Eucharist." My heart leapt with joy, and I slipped quietly away from the sisters and went for a short visit before the Blessed Sacrament, where I poured out my heart. But Jesus sweetly admonished me that I should be at that moment together with the sisters. I went immediately in obedience to the rule. (360)

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY
OCT 8 - DISCOVER HIS WILL FOR YOU
Today the Virgin speaks of conversion and the will of God :
Dear children, today I want to thank you for all your sacrifices and prayers. I give you my special motherly blessing.
I call each of you to decide for God. From day to day , discover His will for you in prayer. I wish, dear children, to call all of you to full conversion so that there may be joy in your hearts (Monthly Message June 25, 1990).
And in John's gospel, Jesus also speaks of doing the will of God :
Everything that the Father gives me will come to me, and anyone who comes to me I will never drive away; for I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me (Jn 6 :37-38).
Reflection:
G. Gordon Liddy was one of the men convicted in the Watergate affair that forced President Nixon to resign in 1974. After his release from prison in 1977, Liddy wrote an autobiography entitled Will. It was a fitting title, for since childhood Liddy has been a man of tremendous will power.
In his book he describes how he used to perform painful and distasteful acts in order to strengthen his will. For example, as a youngster he ate part of a rat. On other occasions he held his hand steady in a burning flame.
In the 1960's, Liddy abandoned his Catholic faith. But twenty years later, in the 1980's, he underwent a religious conversion. It came about as a result of attending Bible-study meetings with his former FBI colleagues. Commenting of the experience, Liddy says that the resolved to spend the rest of his life seeking and doing God's will rather than his own.
The hardest thing I have to do now, each day, is to decide what is God's will rather than what is my will.
So the prayer I say most often is, first of all,"
God, please tell me what you want." And second, "
Give me the strength to do your will."
Application:
In our gospel reading today, Christ said, "I have come down from heaven not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me." And the Blessed Mother has urged us to "discover God's will for you in prayer." To this end, offer the following prayer today by St. Jane Frances de Chantal :
Lord, what is your will that I do? I am completely open to your plan for me. I desire to live only in you and to be guided by you forever. Grant that your holy will be carried out perfectly in me.

Our Lady of All Nations to littlest of servants October 8, 2008
