BLACK SAINT OF THE DAY
Victor and Ursus, Theban Legionnaires. We are soldiers in the Theban legion. We suffered martyrdom at Solothurn in Switzerland, and martyred by order of Maximian. We were buried outside the city gates. 30 Sept.
Victor, Cratusian, and Companion, Martyrs
Victor Maurus (aka Victor the Moor)…I am a soldier, and I served in the Army of Caesar when Maximianus was Emperor, albeit my grey hairs bespoke my age.
I was born in Mauretania. I soldiered under Maximian at Milan. About, 303 A.D. an inquiry tried me for my Christian faith. I was tortured, suffered, and finally beheaded
He initiated a Christian persecution in what is now Milan, Italy. I was a Christian from a young age, but the Emperor, who knew me, did not know it. But spies informed him I was badmouthing Roman gods.
When Maximianus questioned me, and did not like my answers, he imprisoned me near the Circus, by the Way of the Ticinese Gate. I nevertheless professed faith in Christ Jesus, and His Blessed Mother Maryam.
The Emperor gave me six days to consider making sacrifice to the Roman gods, under threat of inhumane tortures. I starved during that time. No bread and water was allowed.
Maximianus ordered a platform built at the Circus’ Hippodrome. I was brought out. The Emperor questioned me. I told him that Christ was my salvation and strength, and the Spirit was my nourishment.
I was stretched beyond the third mark on the rack, and beaten.
Maximianus then attempted to bribe me, promoted me to the magister militum rank. He offered gold silver, retinues, and property. All I had to do was sacrifice to the Roman gods. I refused, calling the gods demons.
I told the Emperor my very self was a sacrifice in praise to Almighty God.
For three days by the Roman gate, I was imprisoned again. Refusing, to do as the torturers demanded, the clubs and beatings began anew. I was stretched to the 5th mark on the rack. I again refused under this torture. Maximianus again tossed me into prison, ordering my legs to be stretched apart on a slab.
I was shortly released. But the emperor’s Consiliarius, Anolinus warned me of my life. He was trying to force me to sacrifice.
Maximianus then had melted lead poured over me.
I prayed to Yeshua to release me, and an angel appeared. The lead was as cold water. It did not burn me. I thanked Father God and Jesus for this salvation. Christ, you who cooled the lead and enabled me to overcome the terrible tortures; do not allow me, I beg you, to be overcome by those men."
Maximianus had me taken to the Vercelline Gate. I was able to escape as the guards fell asleep. I hid in a horse stable, but was found, and beaten by the soldiers. I was transported to a Wood called The Elms.
I prayed, “I thank you, Lord Jesus Christ, that you have not separated me from your saints, my fellow citizens, Nabor and Felix. I bless and thank you forever. Amen.” I was then beheaded.
The Emperor ordered no grave be marked. He did not allow me to be buried, so that wild animals could feast. But two animals guarded my body, one my head, and the other at my feet.
Maximianus ordered my body buried. Bishop Maternus did so, after the animals allowed the Presbyter (Elder), to do so. I was martyred, 8 May, buried by Saint Maternus, bishop, 14 May.

Pope St. Victor I. As the African chief priest of Rome, I was the first Pope to introduce Latin in the liturgy, church wide. I settled the imbroglio over the day of celebration for the resurrection of Our Lord (Easter). I condemned the Montanists, and the Gnostic Florentinus, the Roman priest.
I excommunicated from the Latin rite church, Polycrator of Ephesus. I condemned Theodotus of Byzantium Monarchian. martyred under Septimus, 28 July.

Victor, I was a bishop, consecrated at Vita, in 484 A.D. Africa, Proconsularis, Byzacene (now Tunis). Born at Carthage, I was in the diocese under Eugene. I chronicled the persecutions of Hunneric, Vandal King, before dying in the 6th century. 23 Aug.

I asked the Lord to let me take part in His Sorrowful Passion that I might experience in soul and body, to the extent that this is possible for a creature, His bitter Passion. I find myself so weak that were it not for Holy Communion I would fall continually. One thing alone sustains me, and that is Holy Communion. From it I draw my strength; in it is all my comfort. I fear life on days when I do not receive Holy Communion. I fear my own self.
Jesus concealed in the Host is everything to me. From the tabernacle I draw strength, power, courage, and light. Here, I seek consolation in time of anguish. I would not know how to give glory to God if I did not have the Eucharist in my heart. (1037)

The following message was given to Marija for the prayer group and pilgrims who had gathered on Mt. Podbrdo :
Dear children, I thank you for having come up here
tonight to pray. At this time your Mother asks you to pray for peace in the world. Therefore, I ask you to come up often on Mt. Kriezevac and Apparition Hill in order to pray for peace and the salvation of the world (Visionary Prayer Group (November 16, 1990).
When he wrote his epistle, James was also thinking of peace :
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace for those who make peace (Jas a3 :17-18).
Reflection:
The Blessed Mother urges us strongly to pray for peace, more than using the following prayer :
God the Father, origin of divinity, good beyond all good, and fair beyond all fair, you are the abode of calmness, peace, and concord. Put an end to the discord that separates us form one another, and lead us back to a unity of love that may be a reflection of your divine nature.
As you are above all things, unite us by the unanimity of a good mind, so that through the embrace of love and the bonds of affection we may become spiritually one both in ourselves and in each other by means of your peace which renders all things peaceful (St. Dionysius).

The following advice was given to Jelena on prayer :
In the evening, if you fall asleep in prayer and in peace, you will wake up in the morning thinking of Jesus. Then you will be able to pray for peace. But if you fall asleep in distraction, the day after will be clouded and you will even forget to pray that day (Locutionist Jelena & Mirijana October 30, 1983).
In this passage, the psalmist speaks with confidence that the Lord will hear his earnest prayer :
But I call upon God,
And the Lord will save me.
Evening and morning and at noon
I utter my complaints and moan,
And he will hear my voice.

Reflection:
As we see, Our Lady stresses the importance of prayer throughout the day, especially in the morning and at night. These have always been traditional prayer times for the church, and the Divine Office is structured in this way. It has the effect of sanctifying the entire day.
The following are two prayers composed by St. Alphonsus Liguori especially for the morning and evening hours :
A Morning Prayer
Most holy and divine Trinity, one God in three Persons, I praise you and give you thanks for all the favors yow have bestowed on me. Your goodness has preserved me until now. I offer you my whole being and in particular all my thoughts, works, and deeds, together with all the trails I may undergo today.
Give them your blessing. May your Divine Love animate them and may they serve your greater glory. I make this morning offering in union with Mary, his Virgin Mother and who was always the faithful handmaid of the Lord.
An Evening Prayer
Jesus Christ my God, I adore you and I thank you for all the graces you have given me this day. I offer you my sleep and all and all the moments of this night, and I implore you to keep me safe from sin.
To this end I take refuge in your Sacred Heart and under the mantle of Our Lady, my Mother. Let your holy angels surround me and keep me in peace; and let your blessing be upon me.
Application:
Tomorrow, begin and end your day with these prayers, or a prayer of your own, as Our Lady asks.

Mother Teresa - Believe in Jesus trust in Him with blind and absolute confidence because He is Jesus. Believe that Jesus and Jesus alone is life and sanctity is nothing but that same Jesus intimately living in you; then His hand will be free with you.
Meditations by Padre Pio - All of us are not called by God to save souls and propagate His glory by the noble apostolate of preaching… (but) one can promote God's glory and work for the salvation of souls by means of a truly Christian life, by praying without ceasing that "His Kingdom come…" that "we may not be led into temptation" and that "He deliver us from evil." This is what you ought to do offering yourself continually to the Lord for this purpose.

In John's gospel, Jesus also speaks of the Holy Spirit:
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever. This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him, because he abides with you, and he will be in you (John 14:16-17).
Reflection:
"Pray to the Holy Spirit," the Blessed Mother tells us today; and Jesus assures us that the Spirit" abides with you and is in you."
Let us then use this time to pray to the Spirit, using St. Augustine's Prayer for the Indwelling of the Spirit:
Holy Spirit, powerful Consoler, sacred Bond of the Father and the Son, Hope of the afflicted, descend into my heart and establish in it your loving dominion. Enkindle in my tepid soul the fire of your Love so that I may be wholly subject to you.
We believe that when you dwell in us, you also prepare a dwelling for the Father and the Son. Deign, therefore, to come to me, Consoler of abandoned souls, and Protector of the needy. Help the afflicted, strengthen the weak, and support the wavering.
Come and purify me. let no evil desire take possession of me. You love the humble and resist the proud. Come to me, glory of the living, and hope of the dying. Lead me by your grace that I may always be pleasing to you.

Dear Friends,
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord. Luke 4: 18 19
It was sunny for many days but today it is raining. We are supposed to have rain all day today and tomorrow. It is cold in the morning now that we are close to November.
I am back from the pilgrimage to St. Anne de Beaupre in the Province of Quebec. We left last Friday with 9 full buses to spend two full days at this great shrine. This year the shrine of St. Anne de Beaupre is celebrating 350 years of existence. We spent time praying and visiting this great church and to ask St. Anne to intercede for us and for all of you.
There have been many great miracles at this place especially many healings. I got back on Monday evening. Now I am preparing for the weekend retreat at the Heritage Inn in Tignish starting Friday evening this week and it will end Sunday afternoon. The theme is The call of Jesus for all to be holy.
Here is a message from Our Lord to Joseph. Jesus spoke to him in these words, I was sent into the world by My Father and the Spirit of the Lord was upon Me. I came with a message from God and how I wish that every person would open his or her heart to accept these words.
Only the poor in heart are ready to listen to the message and cherish it. This message from heaven is to help you get out of the darkness of sin and to come into the light of My Kingdom. I say to all those, who are captives because of sin and the allurements of this world, that I have come to liberate you to enjoy the freedom of the children of God. I show this power by healing all kinds of sicknesses and diseases. Many have recovered their sight, the lame can walk, the deaf can hear and all received the good news. A new time has arrived as I am your Saviour and I am working among you.
My dear friends, I call you all to open your hearts to Me. It is time that the old ways be thrown away so that a new era can begin. I need your cooperation to bring about this new beginning. Stop worshipping money, looking for worldly pleasure and looking for satisfaction in drugs, alcohol or sex, but turn to Me and give yourselves completely to Me and I will lead you to green pastures.
Place Me at the centre of your heart and have a deep friendship with Me and you will be filled with peace, love, joy and contentment. Without Me you cannot find the peace you are seeking. So often you are looking in the wrong places. I am the only one who can give you this genuine peace.
Remember, My brothers and sisters, that I love you and I gave My life for you. I paid for your sins so that now you need only be sorry for them and they will be washed away. I won for you all the grace you need so that you can climb the mountain with Me. Come, do not delay, and let us walk together every day.

MANY TIMES YOU ARE MISUNDERSTOOD AND EVEN MORE OFTEN ARE YOU SCORNED FOR THE LIVES YOU TRY TO LEAD. SO FOR TODAY I DRAW YOU INTO MY HEART AND THERE DO I GIVE TO YOU MY DEEPEST LOVE. LET YOUR TRIALS, WHATEVER THEY BE, BE LIFTED FOR THIS TIME.
