FATHER MELVIN DOUCETTE

"Love My Church"

Tuesday, October 28, 2008

Dear Friends,

When Jesus went into the region of Caesarea Philippi he asked his disciples, Who do people say that the Son of Man is? They replied, Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets. He said to them, But who do you say that I am? Simon Peter said in reply, You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God. Jesus said to him in reply, Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father.

And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the Kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Matthew 16: 13 19

We had a mostly sunny day yesterday, especially in the afternoon, and the temperature reached 15 degrees. It was cloudy in the evening and we had some rain during the night. It will be cloudy all day today with some rain.

I went to the Manor in Alberton yesterday afternoon for the celebration of Holy Mass and to visit those who were bedridden in their rooms. This morning I will go to Summerside and by 10:30 a.m. I should be in Charlottetown.

In the evening I will celebrate Holy Mass at St. Paul's and help the charismatic prayer group who have just finished a seminar. I will come home after I finish with the prayer group. I will have Holy Mass in the little shrine of Our Lady of Prince Edward Island on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.

Here is another message given by the Lord to Joseph. Our Lord Jesus spoke to him in these words, I came to establish My Kingdom on earth and in order to bring this about I founded My Church on St. Peter, the first of the twelve Apostles.

It was to Peter that I said that I would build my Church on that rock named Peter. Satan will never be able to conquer My Church. It will last until the end of time. I gave Peter the keys to the Kingdom of heaven. He has the power to open or shut the door to the Kingdom.

Whatever Peter binds on earth, will be bound in heaven and whatever he looses on earth will be loosed in heaven. No one has such power as Peter so that he may govern the Church according to My will.

I wish to remind you that there is only one successor of St. Peter and that person is known as the Bishop of Rome and the Pope of the whole world.

The successor has the same power as Peter had. Those who succeeded the other Apostles are known as Bishops and they have much power in their own diocese but they have to submit to the Pope and be in union with him.

Remember I founded only one Church and where Peter is there is My Church. I call all, who call themselves Christians, to place yourselves under the authority of the Bishop of Rome. He is the Head of the Church. Unity in the Church is of great importance for it is the sign that this Church is mine. Love My Church and continue to listen to her.

Our Lady of All Nations to littlest of servants October 27, 2008

My dear, dear children there is so LITTLE TIME left. PRAY, PRAY, PRAY.

The events that have been prophesied are about to explode upon the world.
You cannot fully grasp the magnitude of these events.

So I ask you again to PRAY, PRAY PRAY ESPECIALLY THE ROSARY AND THE DIVINE MERCY CHAPLET. Dedicated yourself to MY SON through MY MOTHER'S HEART.

I LOVE YOU ALL SO VERY, VERY MUCH MOM

Medjugorje Day By Day Oct 28 - I GIVE YOU STRENGTH

"If you believe what you like in the Gospels, and reject what you don't like, it is not the Gospel you believe, but yourself." St. Augustine

"The Eucharist is the flesh of our Savior Jesus Christ which suffered for our sins, which the Father raised up by his goodness" (St. Ignatius of Antioch).

Mother Teresa -
He taught us to learn from Him, to be meek and humble of heart.
If we are meek and humble, we will love each other as He loves us.

Meditations by Padre Pio - If we are calm and patient, we will not only find ourselves, but also our souls and, with it, God.

Archbishop Fulton Sheen -
Pride is the child of ignorance

"Our hatred of a person often decreases as we learn to know him better. A boy graduating from high school is generally not as humble as when he graduates from medical school. At eighteen he thought he knew it all; at twenty-eight he feels himself ignorant in the face of the medical science he has yet to acquire. So it is with God. Because we do not pray or contemplate or love Him, we become vain and proud; but when we know Him better we feel a deep sense of dependence which tempers our false independence. Pride is the child of ignorance, humility the offspring of knowledge."

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html -
I saw how unwillingly the Lord Jesus came to certain souls in Holy Communion. And He spoke these words to me: I enter into certain hearts as into a second Passion.(1598)
As I was praying to the living Heart of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament for the intention of a certain priest, Jesus suddenly gave me knowledge of His goodness and said to me, I will give him nothing that is beyond his strength. (1607)

Dailys - http://www.catholic-forum.com/e-pistle.html -
Quote of the Day In those days he departed to the mountain to pray, and he spent the night in prayer to God. When day came, he called his disciples to himself, and from them he chose Twelve, whom he also named apostles: Simon, whom he named Peter, and his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the Son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called a Zealot and Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor. -Lk 6:12-16

Today's Tidbit The Zealots were a group in Israel at the time of Christ who believed the Messiah would be a military leader to help Israel become an independent nation free from foreign control.

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY

Oct 28 - I GIVE YOU STRENGTH

In this message to the prayer group, the Blessed Virgin speaks of giving strength :

Dear children, your Mother loves you all. I'm happy to see you here, dear children. I give you love and ask you to give this love to others. Be peacemakers and help others to change their lives.

I give you strength, dear children. With this strength, you can bear anything. May this strength, you can bear anything. May this strength make you strong in all things. Because you need it, I give you strength (Visionary June 27, 1988),

The prophet Isaiah also promises strength to God's people :

He gives power to the faint, and strengthens the powerless. Even youths will faint and be weary, and the young will fall exhausted; but those who wait for the Lord will renew their strength, They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. --Isaiah 40 :29-31

Reflection:

Cardinal John Henry Newman (1801-1890) was one of the great pastors and scholars of the Catholic church in England. His writings included this prayer for strength :

May the Lord strengthen us all the day long. Till the shades lengthen and the evening comes, And the busy world is hushed and the fever of life is over, And our work is done. Then in his mercy may he give us A safe lodging, A holy rest, And peace at the last. Amen.

One of the blessings of our faith is that we need not rely solely on our own strength, for we have an inexhaustible reservoir in God himself. Further, as Our Lady says today, we are urged to draw from this reservoir whenever we are in need.

Application:

"With this strength, " the Virgin says, " you can bear anything. " Today, commit to memory the promise that when we are in need, the strength of Christ and Our Lady is available for the asking

Message of October 25, 2007

"Dear children! Today the Lord permitted me to tell you again that you live in a time of grace. You are not conscious, little children, that God is giving you a great opportunity to convert and to live in peace and love. You are so blind and attached to earthly things and think of earthly life. God sent me to lead you toward eternal life. I, little children, am not tired, although I see that your hearts are heavy and tired for everything that is a grace and a gift. Thank you for having responded to my call."

Message of October 25, 2004

"Dear children! This is a time of grace for the family and, therefore, I call you to renew prayer. May Jesus be in the heart of your family. In prayer, learn to love everything that is holy. Imitate the lives of saints so that they may be an incentive and teachers on the way of holiness. May every family become a witness of love in this world without prayer and peace. Thank you for having responded to my call."

Message of October 25, 2005

"Little children, believe, pray and love, and God will be near you. He will give you the gift of all the graces you seek from Him. I am a gift to you, because, from day to day, God permits me to be with you and to love each of you with immeasurable love. Therefore, little children, in prayer and humility, open your hearts and be witnesses of my presence. Thank you for having responded to my call."

"Be consumed in honoring Him and . . . acknowledge the burning love He shows us in this wonderful Sacrament. Here His love holds Him captive till the end of time. It is of this one can truly say, 'Love triumphs, love enjoys/Love finds in God its joys!" (St. Margaret Mary Alacoque).

Mother Teresa -
Prayer enlarges the heart until it is capable of containing God's gift of Himself.
Ask and seek, and your heart will grow big enough to receive Him and keep Him as your own.

Meditations by Padre Pio -
The Spirit of God is a Spirit of peace and even in the most serious faults He makes us feel a sorrow that is tranquil, humble, and confident and this is precisely because of His mercy.

The spirit of the devil, instead, excites, exasperates and makes us feel, in that very sorrow, anger against ourselves, whereas we should on the contrary be charitable with ourselves first and foremost.

Therefore, if any thought agitates you, this agitation never comes from God, who gives you peace, being the Spirit of Peace, but from the devil.

Archbishop Fulton Sheen -
The Greatness of God is so often forgotten

"Humility which gives preference to others is not very popular today, principally because men have forgotten the Greatness of God. By expanding our puny little self to the infinite, we have made the true Infinity of God seem trivial. The less knowledge we have of anything the more insignificant it seems."

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html - Jesus, hide me; just as You have hidden Yourself under the form of the white Host, so hide me from human eyes, and particularly hide the gifts which You so kindly grant me. May I not betray outwardly what You are effecting in my soul. I am a white host before You, O Divine Priest. Consecrate me Yourself, and may my transubstantiation be known only to You.

I stand before You each day as a sacrificial host and implore Your mercy upon the world. In silence, and unseen, I will empty myself before You; my pure and undivided love will burn, in profound silence, as a holocaust. And may the fragrance of my love be wafted to the foot of Your throne. You are the Lord of lords, but You delight in innocent and humble souls. (1564)

Dailys - http://www.catholic-forum.com/e-pistle.html -
Quote of the Day In truth, the soul can possess no better insight for knowledge than to perceive its own nothingness. -St. Angela of Foligno

Today's Tidbit "Lex orandi, lex credendi" is a form of the axiom of Pope St. Celestine I: "Legem credendi statuit lex orandi." This is often translated "The rule of prayer determines the rule of faith." This is an idea used to help explain the interaction between liturgy, and doctrine. This idea uses liturgy and prayers as tools to help understand, explain and pass on the important doctrines of the Church. An obvious example of this the Creed we pray at Mass. The Creed states what we believe, it can be taught easily to others, and it can help us understand our Faith.

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY

OCTOBER 27 - GROW IN YOUR WORK FOR THE CHURCH

In this weekly message, Our Lady issues a special call

Dear children, today I wish to call you to work within the church. I love each of you equally and desire that you do this work as much as possible. I know that you can, dear children, but you feel small and inadequate in these things. You need to be courageous and, like little flowers, grow in your work for the church and for Jesus. This will be good for everyone. (Weekly Message October 31, 1985).

In 1 Corinthians, Paul also calls the people to ministry :

Now, brothers and sisters, you know that members of the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints; I urge you to put yourselves at the service of such people, and of everyone who works and toils with them (1 Cor 16 :15-16).

Reflection:

At our confirmation, we were commissioned to assume an active role in the church as adult Christians. Today St. Paul and Our Lady remind us of that role, asking that we translate it into concrete action.

An illustration :

In the 1930's a young traveler was exploring the French Alps when he came upon a vast stretch of barren, desolate land. In the middle of this vast wasteland was a stooped old man with a sack of acorns on his back and a four-foot-long iron pipe in his hand.

The man was using the iron pipe to punch holes in the ground. Then from the sack he would take an acorn and put it in the hole. The old man told the traveler, " I've planted over 100,000 acorns. Maybe only a tenth of them will grow. " The old man's wife and son had died, and this was how he spent his final years.

Twenty-five years later the traveler returned to the same desolate spot. What he saw amazed him the land was covered with a beautiful forest two miles wide and five miles long. Birds were singing, animals were playing, and wildflowers perfumed the air, all because someone cared.

The Blessed Virgin calls us to action as well, to do our part to spread God's kingdom on earth. We may not be able to change the whole world, but we can change part of it, just as the old man did. Today St. Paul and Our Lady remind us of that role, asking that we translate it into concrete action. We received our sack of acorns and our iron pipe when we were confirmed. Now it's up to us to do something with them.

Application:
What needs are there within your parish church and community? How can you actively meet some of those needs with your own gifts and talents, as Our Lady recommends today?

SHORT POWERFUL PRAYER THROUGH ST. JOSEPH

"Glorious St. Joseph, tenderhearted father, faithful
guardian of Jesus, chaste spouse of the Mother of
God, I ask you to join me in praising God the Father
through His Divine Son who died on the cross and
rose again to give us sinners new life. Through the
Holy Name of Jesus, pray with me that we may obtain
from the eternal Father the favor we ask. (here
state your intention)."

Say this prayer for nine consecutive days.

Fear not! God is your shelter (the 23rd Psalm and the Lord’s Prayer. God never fails. Don’t fail him. Call on Jesus. Jesus on the mainline, tell him what you want!
