Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary Protectress of Africa

Holy Mary, Mother of God, Protectress of Africa, you have given to the world the true Light, Jesus Christ. Through your obedience to the Father and the grace of the Holy Spirit, you have given us the source of our reconciliation and our justice, Jesus Christ, our peace and our joy.

Mother of Tenderness and Wisdom, show us Jesus, your Son and the Son of God. Guide our path of conversion, so that Jesus might shine his glory on us in every aspect of our personal, familial and social lives.

Mother, full of Mercy and Justice, through your docility to the Spirit, the Counselor, obtain for us the grace to be witnesses of the Risen Lord, so that we will increasingly become the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

Mother of Perpetual Help, we entrust to your maternal intercession the preparation and fruits of the Second Special Assembly for Africa. Queen of Peace, pray for us! Our Lady of Africa, pray for us!

"Pray that all may come and follow Me"

Dear Friends,

Persecution of the Church

On that day there broke out a severe persecution of the church in Jerusalem, and all were scattered throughout the countryside of Judea and Samaria, except the Apostles. Devout men buried Stephen and made a loud lament over him. Saul, meanwhile, was trying to destroy the church; entering house after house and dragging out men and women, he handed them over for imprisonment. Now when the Apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the Word of God, they sent them Peter and John, who went down and prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit, for he had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they laid hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit. Acts 8:1–3,14–17

Here is a message of Our Lord and Savior addressed to Joseph. Jesus spoke to him in these words,

After the stoning of St. Stephen to death, Saul and his followers turned against the Christians living in Jerusalem. They arrested many and threw them into prison. Many Christians fled the city and went into the countryside and north to Samaria in order to avoid being arrested. The Apostles stayed in Jerusalem.

My Church has been persecuted all throughout Her history. See how She was persecuted in Eastern Europe by the Communist and in China by these people who wanted to wipe it away. Yet She survived in all these countries. I am with My Church and She will never be destroyed.

During these persecutions in Jerusalem, Samaria was opened to the Gospel and many came to believe in Me as their Savior. The Apostles went to these new converts and prayed that all of them may receive the Holy Spirit; and they laid hands on them and they were filled with the Holy Spirit. Many from Samaria entered the Church at this time.

At this time, in many countries, many of My followers have stopped going to church, taken by the lure of material things. However, many countries of Africa are accepting the Gospel and millions enter the church every year. Pray that all may come and follow Me.

Medjugorje Day By Day June 22 - PREPARE YOURSELF WITH LOVE

"Behold the source of every good, Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament, who says, If any man thirst, let him come to Me. Oh, what torrents of grace have the saints drawn from the fountain of the Most Blessed Sacrament! for there Jesus dispenses all the merits of his Passion, as it was foretold by the Prophet: You shall draw waters with joy out of the Saviour's fountains" (St. Alphonsus Liguori).

Mother Teresa -
Reflect today on these words of Pope Paul VI on peace : "If we wish to have true peace, we must give it a soul. The soul of peace is love."

Meditations by Padre Pio -
Do not be discouraged if you do not succeed in doing everything as you desire, force yourself to do what you have to do and see to it that you never fall short of anything in this respect, taking no account of whether you feel comfort or tediousness and boredom. Always be upright in this resolution (Epist IV p 466).

Archbishop Fulton Sheen -
The only way to solve the hunger problem
"The problem is the whole world is dying of hunger - the Eastern world is dying of hunger of body; the Western world is dying of hunger of soul. The first will be fed, but not by those who hate liberty when they give them flour; the Western world will be saved by feeding the East while recognizing their own hunger of the Spirit and by seeking again the true King of Hearts Who alone gives `The Bread of Life'."

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html -
Then, in an instant, I was caught up to stand near Jesus, and I stood on the altar next to the Lord Jesus, and my spirit was filled with a happiness so great that I am unable to comprehend it or write about it.

A profound peace as well as repose filled my soul. Jesus bent toward me and said with great kindness, What is it you desire, My daughter? And I answered, "I desire worship and glory be given to Your mercy." I already am receiving worship by the institution and celebration of this Feast; what else do you desire? I then looked at the immense crowd worshiping The Divine Mercy and I said to the Lord, "Jesus, bless all those who are gathered to give glory to You and to venerate Your infinite mercy."

Jesus made a sign of the cross with His hand, and this blessing was reflected in the souls like a flash of light. My spirit was engulfed in His love. I felt as if I had dissolved and disappeared completely in God. When I came to myself, a profound peace was flooding my soul, and an extraordinary understanding of many things was communicated to my intellect, an understanding that had not been granted me previously. (1048)

On several occasions, I have learned how some religious defend their own glory under the pretext of being concerned for the glory of God, whereas it is not a question of the glory of God, but of glory of self. O Jesus, how painful this has been for me! What secrets the day of Your judgment will bring to light! How can one steal God's gifts? (1149)

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY

JUNE 22 - PREPARE YOURSELF WITH LOVE

As we approach the anniversary, Our Lady asks us to prepare with love:
Dear children, your Mother is happy to be with all of you. Dear children, you have helped me to realize the plans of God.

I wish to speak to you of love, and give you love. During these days, prepare yourselves for the anniversary with love, with my messages, and with joy. Your mother will help you, dear children, and your Mother will remain with you. There is nothing more important for you than to make what I have said your first priority. (Visionary's Prayer Group 6-6- 98)
St. John also recognizes the primacy of love:

"We love because he first loved us. Those who say, `I love God,' and hate their brothers or sisters, are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen. The commandment we have from him is this; those who love God must love their brothers and sisters also (1John 4:19-21).

Reflection:

Some years ago the BBC sent its star journalist, Malcolm Muggeridge, to India to do a documentary on Mother Teresa. The BBC wanted to televise her and her sisters picking up the dying in the slums of Calcutta and caring for them at a shelter they ran. Here the dying are washed up and cared for, as Mother Teresa puts it, `within the sight of a loving face.'

The shelter is dimly lit by tiny windows high up in the walls. The television crew had not anticipated the poor lighting inside the building, and had not brought any portable lights with them. They concluded that it was useless to try to film the sisters working with the dying inside the building. But someone suggested they do it anyway. Perhaps some of the footage would be usable. To everyone's surprise the footage turned out to be absolutely spectacular. The whole interior was bathed in mysterious warm light. Technically speaking, the camera crew said, the results were impossible to explain.

Muggeridge has his own theory about the mysterious light: `Mother Teresa's home for the dying is overflowing with love...This love is luminous, like the haloes artists have seen and made visible round the heads of the saints. I find it not at all surprising that the luminosity should register on photographic film.'

Application:

Today, pray especially for this gift of luminous love, as Our Lady urges us today.

Medjugorje Day By Day June 21- SURRENDER YOURSELVES

"Jesus Christ, my Lord and my God, whom I believe to be really present in the
Blessed Sacrament of the Altar, receive this most profound act of adoration
to supply for the desire I have to adore You unceasingly, and in thanksgiving
for the sentiments of love which Your Sacred Heart has for me in this
Sacrament" (St. Margaret Mary Alacoque).

Mother Teresa
To make sure that we do not forget, Jesus gave us the Eucharist as a memorial of his love ... When you look at the Crucifix, you understand how much Jesus loved you then, when you look at the Sacred Host you understand how much Jesus loves you now."

Meditations by Padre Pio -
Father, why do you cry when you receive Jesus in Holy Communion?" Reply: "If the Church can utter the words: speaking of the incarnation of the Word in the womb of the Immaculate Virgin, what should be said of us miserable creatures? But Jesus said to us: 'He who does not eat my Flesh and does not drink my Blood will not have life everlasting,' so then let us approach Holy Communion with great love and fear. Let the whole day be a preparation and thanksgiving for Holy Communion" (LdP,55)

Archbishop Fulton Sheen
Both body and soul must be fed
"Let it not be forgotten that He Who promised the spiritual did not deny bread to the poor. Our hopes and our liberties are sold too cheap when they are bartered away to him who feeds the body and leaves the soul unsatisfied."

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html -
Today, I took part in a one-day retreat. When I was at the last conference, the priest was speaking of how much the world needs God's mercy, and that this seems to be a special time when people have great need of prayer and God's mercy. Then I heard a voice in my soul: These words are for you.

Do all you possibly can for this work of My mercy. I desire that My mercy be worshiped, and I am giving mankind the last hope of salvation; that is, recourse to My mercy. My Heart rejoices in this feast. After these words, I understood that nothing can dispense me from the obligation which the Lord demands from me. (998)

Let the glory and praise to The Divine Mercy rise from every creature throughout all ages and times. (1005)

Praise and glory be to You, O Holy Trinity, Eternal God. May the mercy springing from Your very bowels protect us from Your just anger. Let the praise of Your incomprehensible mercy resound everywhere. All Your works bear the seal of Your unfathomable mercy, O God. (1007)

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY

JUNE 21 - SURRENDER YOURSELVES

In anticipation of the anniversary, the Virgin calls us to surrender ourselves to God:
Dear children, until the anniversary day, I call you, the parish, to pray more and to let your prayer be a sign of surrender to God. Dear children, I know that you are all tired, but you don't know how to surrender yourselves. During these days, surrender yourselves completely to me! (Weekly Message 6-13-85)

Perhaps the greatest example of surrender was that of Job, who remained faithful in prosperity and poverty, in illness and in health, in joy and in tragedy. His simple words were:

"Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return there; the Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord (Job 1:21)."

Reflection:

Surrender to God is one of the most difficult tasks of the spiritual life, for we are ingrained with a self-centeredness and egotism (original sin) that impels us to seek control not only over our own lives, but over everyone and everything around us. Left unchecked, this sometimes unconscious attitude leads inevitably to emptiness and despair.

However, turning from self to God allows us to enter a new life of God-centeredness, oneness, and joy that we were created for. Instead of moving inward, we move outward, and become free. It all begins, as Our Lady says, with a conscious choice.

Application:

Today, let us make that choice -- using a special prayer written by St. Therese of Lisieux, "The Little Flower":

"I consider that `all is vanity but to love God and serve him alone.' The grace which I especially ask, O Jesus, is never to offend you. My gifts are all unworthy, and so I offer you my very soul, O most loving Savior.

I fear only one thing, my God, to keep my own will.

Take it, therefore, for I choose all that you choose. O my Beloved, I offer myself to you, that you may perfectly accomplish in me your holy designs, and I will not allow anything created to be an obstacle to their accomplishment."

Medjugorje Day By Day June 20 - GIVE ME ALL YOUR PROBLEMS

"In Mary's virginal womb the Sacred Heart of Jesus was fashioned beneath her own heart and commenced to beat in unison with it. And there, in that first-ever tabernacle of the real presence, began the admirable alliance that would never end—the covenant of love and collaboration between the Eucharistic Heart of the Redeemer and the Immaculate Heart of Mary" (Fr. Richard Foley, S.J.).

Mother Teresa
"The Eucharist is connected with the Passion. If Jesus had not established the Eucharist we would have forgotten the crucifixion. It would have faded into the past and we would have forgotten that Jesus loved us. There is a saying that to be far away from the eyes is to be far away from the heart.

Meditations by Padre Pio -
Father, I feel unworthy to receive Holy Communion, I am unworthy!" Reply; "it is true, we are not worthy of such a gift, but it is one thing to receive unworthily in the state of mortal sin and another to be unworthy. We are all unworthy; but it is He who invites us, and He who desires it. Let us humble ourselves and receive Him with our hearts full of love" )LdP,55).

Archbishop Fulton Sheen

"Though He Who was rich became poor for our sake, yet He would not be an earthly king by force. A poor blind man could stop Him on the roadway to be cured of his blindness, but not all the masses with their universal acclaim and suffrage could make Him king. Then He laid His finger on their error, `You seek Me not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were satisfied' (John 6: 26). They sought Him not for the higher part of their being, but for their stomachs; not for His morality, but for their economics; not for His saving grace, but because of the dormancy of the spiritual in their souls."

Beware of those who promise the world!

"When loaves are more valued than the Divine Power Which multiplied them; when streams are more admired than the fountains that produced them, the world will accept any kind of a king who promises bread and plenty."

JUNE 20 - GIVE ME ALL YOUR PROBLEMS The anniversary of the Medjugorje apparitions (JUNE 25) seems to be very important to Our Lady, for she begins preparing us for it days in advance.

For instance, on this day in 1985, she said:
Dear children, for the coming feast day, I wish to call you to open your hearts to the Master of all hearts. Give me all your problems and worries! I want to comfort you in all your trials. Truly, I wish to fill you with peace, joy, and love for God (Weekly Message JUNE 20,1985).

St Peter speaks of the good fruit which trials can bear:

In this you rejoice, even if now for a little while you have had to suffer various trials, so that the genuineness of your faith being more precious than gold that, through perishable is tested by fire may be found to result in praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed (1 Pt 1:6-7).

Reflections:

Problems and trials are a part of life, of course, but there are several ways of dealing with them.

Rather than holding onto them through worry and fear, Our Lady asks us to, "Give me all your problems and worries," a way of saying "Let go, and let God." This trusting surrender to the Lord of our problems is the spirit behind this passage by St. Francis de Sales

Do not look forward to the trials and crosses of this life with dread and fear. Rather, look to them with full confidence that, as they arise, God, to whom you belong, will deliver you from them.

He has guided and guarded you thus far in life. Do you but hold fast to his dear hand and he will lead you safely through all trials. Whenever you cannot stand, he will carry you lovingly in his arms.

Application:

Offer this prayer by St. Francis whenever you feel burdened with problems

Jesus Tells Us To Take A Daily Inventory

Today I attended the 8:00 A.M/ Mass at our parish, Our Lady Of Sorrows where I prayed for all those with special needs and intentions, including Father Leonard the 95 year old priest who I visited on Friday, who passed away early Saturday morning.

After making small offerings to Jesus and Mary, I prepared for receiving of the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist by making an Act of Contrition.

After receiving the Most Sacred Host, I knelt in silent commune with Jesus and told Him of my great love for Him and my gratefulness for all His many blessings.

Then I prayed, If it be Your will, speak Lord, Your servant listens. Jesus responded to my heart saying: In life, many beautiful treasures are covered by and/or attached to challenge and pain, such as the rose and its thorns. This is also true of the evil one’s ability to masquerade and misrepresent something sinful in a distorted light!

Therefore My children, it is necessary each evening to take a mental inventory of your actions, motives and deeds. In this way, you will be better able to recognize where changes must be made. Go in peace to love and serve the Lord. Continue to pray for your brothers and sisters. Amen.

FEAST OF IMMACULATE HEART

L. began to receive a message from God and said, "Jesus, please cover me with Your Most Precious Blood."

Then your God spoke," These are the days I spoke to you about in Scripture...the days you would feel abandoned. You are experiencing the dark night of the soul. I have NOT forsaken you- -I never will!

This IS satan's hour! He is on a rampage to collect poor souls. Yes, HE WANTS YOU!!!

It is a time when much 'illness' will inflict all people. A severe darkness will cover the earth!

My words ARE being fulfilled rapidly. It is your time to place all your trust in Me, your God.

Satan IS very powerful! Beware of his cunning subtle lies!

Today the earth and nature are in great conflict! God and evil are in the greatest battle ever!

Speak to Me from your heart! PRAY! Only I can give you peace in the midst of such great turmoil!

Amen, I, your God speaks! Hear Me!"

Jesus Warns Us Of Changes To Come

Today I spent time alone with Jesus in Adoration and made small sacrifices to Jesus and Mary and prayed for all those with special needs and intentions.

On my knees I made an Act of Contrition and asked Jesus to remove all distraction that I might hear only those words He might say to my heart and see only those visions in my mind’s eye that came from Him. And I asked the Holy Ghost to be with me and strengthen me. Then I prayed Speak Lord (if it be His will), Your servant listens.

Jesus responded to my heart saying: My child Eileen, soon the world will be turning a new corner and this change will bring and end to religious and political freedom as it has long been known. This I tell you will be due in part to many churches closing their doors due to poor attendance and financial problems.

The political arena will not be as forthcoming as it once has been, thus excluding its voters and tax payers from understanding and/or accepting errs and changes.

Therefore, please appreciate and use this time to demonstrate your freedom in choosing to spend more time with Me.

While there we were moved to a small side room of the church as usually happens whenever there is a Burial Mass. When the Mass ended, Father John came and took the Eucharist back to the Front altar. At that time he told me that Father Leonard was in a coma and the Hospice at Our Lady's Home. Father smiled saying: He wanted to live to be 100. I asked how old Father Leonard is because they did not expect him to recover.

He is 95 said Fr. John. And I responded saying He came very close to his goal. These priests of whom I speak all belong to the Sacred Heart Missionaries and tomorrow is the Anniversary of Sacred Heart Missionaries where Father Leonard spent more than 55 0r 60 years of his life. Fr. John said there would be an 11:00 A.M. Mass tomorrow to celebrate the Anniversary of Sacred Heart Missionaries followed by Lunch and he invited me saying ?There probably won't be too many here. I promised to do my best to be there and felt honored to be invited. Father John is the priest who married my husband and I.

Feast of The Sacred Hearts

Friday, June 19, 2009

Today I attended the 11:00 AM Mass at my parish, Our Lady Of Sorrows, which are priest of The Sacred Hearts Of Jesus and Mary and this is their Feast Day.

At Mass I made small sacrifices to Jesus and Mary and prayed for all with special needs and intentions. After making an Act of Contrition, I received the Holy Eucharist, the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.

On my knees, I prayed; Speak Lord if it be Your will, Your servant listens. Jesus responded saying: My child you have been raised up and receive My love because you have opened yourself up to receive My love. In order to receive My love, My children must be open and offer themselves to Me. I love you as I love all My children. Go in peace to love and serve the Lord. Continue to pray for your brothers and sisters. Amen.

SHORT POWERFUL PRAYER THROUGH ST. JOSEPH

"Glorious St. Joseph, tenderhearted father, faithful
guardian of Jesus, chaste spouse of the Mother of
God, I ask you to join me in praising God the Father
through His Divine Son who died on the cross and
rose again to give us sinners new life. Through the
Holy Name of Jesus, pray with me that we may obtain
from the eternal Father the favor we ask. (here
state your intention)."

Say this prayer for nine consecutive days.

Fear not! God is your shelter (the 23rd Psalm and the Lord’s Prayer. God never fails). Don’t fail him. Call on Jesus. Jesus on the mainline, tell him what you want!
