BLACK SAINT OF THE DAY

Ammon, Zeno, Pope

Amoes, Hermit;

AMOUN of Nitria and his wife. (As reported to Lausus, or Palladius, unclear). I was around 22 years when my folks died. My uncle forced me to marry. In my day, to be married in the ceremony includes the decking with a crown, and a marriage chamber ritual.

But as soon as my bride and I were placed in bed, we made a pact to remain celibate, and virgins. My wife agreed to this, but desired we remain in the same residence, but different beds.

For 18 years, we accomplished this. I made balsam, which was labor intensive. I spent hours daily, in this vocation, working and praying.

Later my wife suggested we live apart. I headed for the mountain of Nitria, and occupied a cell (living space) with two rooms. This was in the manner that the Philosopher writer, Philo sayd as the cells of the African Therapeutae. They had been a Jewish group that preceded Christianity. I visited my wife two times yearly.

I lived 20 years in that manner. I died as a monk, at 62 years of age.

On one occasion, a rabid boy was sent to me. Chains held him, as he inflicted injury on himself. The father bringing him asked for cures. I said to them, “Why tell me, asking for grace beyond my ability. The remedy is in your abilities.)

I told them to pay the widow woman for the ox that was secretly slaughtered, and then the grace of God would cure the boy.” This, they did, and the boy was healed.

At another time, some asked for favor. I in turn requested they bring me a large water jar, called a dolium.

I could use it to store water for the pilgrims and visitors. Those asking said they would. One of them reneged, however, not wanting to “kill his camel” by hauling so large a vessel.

The others requesting grace, made such as a mule train, tied together, to carry the dolium vessel. They brought them to me.

I told them that the friend who had refused had lost his camel in death while they were returning to me.

The other travelers who delivered the dolium returned home to find the camel of the recalcitrant promisor had been devoured by wolves.

The great Athanasius, bishop of Alexandria also reported of me.

At the time when Saint Antony was in the mountain, he sent monks to me. I was walking back with them, along with my disciple, Theodore. But I worried about me being naked when we reached the Lycus River (River Lycum), which encompasses a tributary gully to the Nile. I talked over the situation, but suddenly through God’s grace, an angel carried me across the body of water. Still, the other travelers had to swim.

We reached Antony. In welcome, he said God had shown him many situations in my life. Antony bade us pray for one another. He also said I should not return to my place to die. I did return. But God graced Antony to see angels life my soul lifted to heaven.

Anastasia and her brother Lycarion, in Kemet and her daughters at Canopus in Kemet. 2 March, and her daughters.

Anastasius, the martyr at Antinoe, Kemet (313 A.D.)

Anatolius of Alexandria, Bishop. I was born in Alexandria, and eventually became a bishop. Long before the renaissance, or so-called the Age of Enlightenment, I was known a a scientist ,philospher. teacher and writer of mathmatics.
I guided the School of Aristotle at Alexandria, Kemet school of philosophy. My curriculum was based on Aristotle’s methods. I was humbled by St. Jerome commented favorably on my writing efforts.

I served in the local government. God allowed me to maintain my humility. But I still had faults. I loathed ignorance, teaching many who received the little knowledge I had. I understood and taught geometry, physics, rhetoric, dialectic, astronomy, and philosophy.

In 263 A.D. rebels fought against Rome. Alexandria was seiged, Starvation was rampant. As I had served in Alexandria government positions, I successfully meditated with Roman military authorities, allowing the sick and elderly to leave the besieged city.

I negotiated a pass for children, women, the sick and elderly out of the area. But because of the war, I left Alexandria, traveling to Caesaria in Palestine, and then to the Council of Antioch.

On the way to the Council of Antioch through Laodicea, I was offered post of bishop there staying 15 years. While there, a local bishop died, and I was appointed to the episcpate in Laodicea, Syria, serving 15 years. I died in 283 A.D. 3 July. I died in 283 A.D. 3 July.

I became a thief. The owner cast me from his household. I joined a gang of fellow robbers. Once, while being pursued for my acts, I sought sanctuary with monastery hermits at Petra, in the Scete desert.
The grace of God converted me. I became a monk, and then was ordained a priest. God gave me the grace of supernatural gifts. I became a pacifist. Later, the monastery was attacked. I did not defend myself, though I could have done so. Martyred Berbers or Bedouins. 405 A.D. at Petra, Skete, Khemet. The Church of Al Adra (the Virgin) contains my remains. 28 Aug.

Antony of Kemet (Egypt), I am Antony (also known as Saint Anthony). I was 20 years old, a member of the Coptic Christian Catholic Rite. Around the year 270 A.D. I lived on a Nile Valley farm. My parents had died, leaving me to care for the estate and my younger sister.

At church service on one day, the gospel reading was Matt.19.21, and sayd, “If you wish to be perfect, go, and sell your possessions, and give the money to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.”

This was my clarion call, a direct word from God, Almighty. Scripture reading was directed to me.

I went home, and got rid of all I owned, to my neighbors my three hundred fertile lands. My other possessions and chattels I sold, giving the proceeds to the poor. I reserved a reasonable and necessary amount for my sister, then a young woman. (Vitae Patrum, I, Vita Antonii.2) Her care would be by the local community of women.

I chose to live in solitude, by him near my village. I supported myself, working with his hands. I made acquaintance with Christians also living in solitude. Their counsel and my constant prayer to the Almighty led me to find out how to serve God.

Solitude with silence I discovered became necessary. For 35 years, I grew in the contemplative and meditative life, and went further into the desert. When people learned of me and my way, others came to join.

God grace me with radiance, an ability to speak, and a humble dignity. Through God’s grace, I gained an even-tempered judgment.
Athanasius in writing of me said, “My way of life was the beginning of the 'peopling of the desert”.

Fr Doucette - Thu, Dec 18, 2008: "Prepare for My coming"

FATHER MELVIN DOUCETTE

"Prepare for My coming"

Thursday, December 18, 2008

Dear Friends,

He (John the Baptist) went throughout the whole region of the Jordan, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins, as it is written in the book of the words of the prophet Isaiah: ?A voice of one crying out in the desert: ?Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths. Every valley shall be filled and every mountain and hill shall be made low. The winding roads shall be made straight, and the rough ways made smooth, and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.? Luke 3:3?6

I celebrated Holy Mass yesterday morning in the little shrine of Our Lady of Prince

Here is another message Jesus gave to Joseph. Our Lord spoke to him in these words, The Father sent John the Baptist ahead of Me to prepare the people for My public life. John came in the spirit and power of Isaiah to call the people to repentance and he did this by a baptism. He loved to quote the prophet Isaiah who wrote that he was the one crying in the desert.

All are called to experience the salvation that I brought to you all. The first thing you are called to do is to repent of all your sins through the Sacrament of Reconciliation or Confession and come to believe in Me. Clear away all your doubts and questions and accept Me with all your heart.

I showed you that I am the Son of God by all the miracles I performed: healing the sick, giving sight to the blind, making the lame walk and raising the dead to life. This surely shows that I have great power and that I come from God. All My friends who have healing power show that they are close to Me and they are genuine.

John the Baptist called the people to the Jordan River where he would talk to them saying that I was near and they should prepare their hearts to receive Me. They are to be like good trees that produce good fruit. If you do not produce good fruit, you will be cut down and thrown in the fire.

Some thought that John was the Messiah but he clearly told them that he was not the Messiah but He would soon appear. He said that he must decrease and I must increase. This shows his humility knowing that his mission was to prepare the way for Me. My friends listen to John the Baptist and prepare for My coming by cleansing your heart.

Powerful Vision to littlest of servants December 17, 2008

While in Church after MASS I received the following vision.

I saw a place that had a sea of fire as far as I could see. I then saw what looked like a huge garage door and it opened downward to create like a slide.

I then saw a multitude of people sliding down into the sea of fire. I could then see that the people were screaming in extreme agony.

I then saw demons and they were torturing people. I saw people and their heads were being crushed and bodies torn apart.

I saw others whose genitals were being tortured. I saw some who were screaming out in intense pain like their hands were on fire.

I was then given the understanding that this place was HELL and the people were being tortured in that part of their body that they used to commit so much sin.

The ones I saw whose heads were being crushed and bodies torn apart were abortion doctors.

The ones whose genitals were being tortured had committed sexual sins.

And the ones whose hands were on fire were the priests, bishops, and cardinals and others who had abused the MOST HOLY EUCHARIST.

JESUS then spoke and told me that many were headed to hell and that we needed to pray.

After this vision I was crying and praying that JESUS have mercy and please help us all.

After seeing this I would never wish that anyone would end up in HELL.

This vision was terrifying and disturbing.

I would ask that we all pray for our brothers and sisters who have been tricked by satan and have become slaves to sin. That we pray through OUR BLESSED MOTHER TO JESUS SO THAT WE CAN HELP SAVE THEM.

PRAYER AND ESPECIALLY THE PRAYERS OF THE ROSARY AND DIVINE MERCY CHAPLET WILL SAVE SOULS.

I ASK THAT YOU PLEASE PRAY. YOU CAN NOT UNDERSTAND HOW TERRIFYING THIS VISION WAS. HELL IS REAL AND IT EXISTS.

Medjugorje Day By Day Dec 21 - DO NOT LOOK TOWARD MATERIAL THINGS

"Present on the altar is the One whom the Magi saw lying in the manger:
Christ, the living Bread who came down from Heaven to give life to the world, the true Lamb who gives His own life for the salvation of humanity." (Pope Benedict XVI)

"Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, Word of all truth, you are the Son of man, the brother of us all, the Bread of Life, present among us, the beginning and end of our road . . . . You are with us, you, the king of the whole world, though apparently hidden, helpless, forgotten, and ignored at this Advent season" (Fr. Hugo Rahner, S.J.).

Once my wife and I had to take a flight that had 4 other stops before arriving at the Dallas-Forth Worth Airport. At the first stop, a little white truck drove up to the plane and my wife watched it pull up to the wing. She asked, "What's that truck doing?"

I explained that some airlines don't completely fuel up a plane for various reasons & we were taking on more fuel. This process was repeated at the next three stops, and my wife watched the plane being fueled each time.

At the last stop, I said, "Ya know, in spite of all these delays, we're making pretty good time."

My wife pointed out the window and said, "I don't know. That lil' white truck is keeping up with us.

Cardinal Ratzinger August 28 1991
"We want to be concerned that this place, which has become a place of prayer and faith, remain and come to be even more in the most interior unity with the entire Church." Medjugorje and the Church, Sr Emmanuel & Denis Nolan p 4

Mother Teresa -
Strive to soak up the simplicity and purity of Christ.
Try to be more in tune with God and more open to Him, so that you will be able to see His face.

Meditations by Padre Pio -
Stay very close to the crib of this most beautiful Child, especially during these days of His birth. If you love riches, here you will find the gold the Kings left Him. If you love the smoke of honors, here you will find that of incense. And if you love the delicacy of the senses, you will smell the perfumed myrrh which perfumes the entire Holy stable.

Archbishop Fulton Sheen -
Joy calls for a good humor

"An aid to good humor is the spirit of joy. Joy is rejoicing in another's progress. This is one of the rarest virtues and the last to be won. Too often the progress of others is regarded as stolen from self. A man loses his good humor when he calls his wife `dear' when they are out and an `ox' when at home.

The wife loses her joy when she would rather spend her time mending his ways than mending his socks. All have joy when they thank God that their friends have done good work, that they are loved by others, and that their virtues proclaim the joy of a good conscience."

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html -September, first Friday. In the evening, I saw the Mother of God, with Her breast bared and pierced with a sword. She was shedding bitter tears and shielding us against God's terrible punishment.

God wants to inflict terrible punishment on us, but He cannot because the Mother of God is shielding us. Horrible fear seized my soul. I kept praying incessantly for Poland, for my dear Poland, which is so lacking in gratitude for the Mother of God. If it were not for the Mother of God, all our efforts would be of little use.

I intensified my prayers and sacrifices for our dear native land, but I see that I am a drop before the wave of evil. How can a drop stop a wave: O yes! A drop is nothing of itself, but with You, Jesus, I shall stand up bravely to the whole wave of evil and even to the whole of hell. Your omnipotence can do all things. (686)

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY

These thoughts for a day are taken from a daily meditation book based on the Messages of Our Lady of Medjugorje by Father Richard J. Beyer, Ave Maria Press.

Dec 21 - DO NOT LOOK TOWARD MATERIAL THINGS

During Advent in 1985, Our Lady said:

Dear children, I am calling you to prepare yourselves for Christmas by means of penance, prayer, and works of charity. Dear children, do not look toward material things, because then you will not be able to experience Christmas (Weekly Message Dec 5, 1985).

St. Paul also warns of materialism or "worldly desires":

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all, training us to renounce impiety and worldly passions, and in the present age to live lives that are self-controlled, upright, and godly, while we wait for the blessed hope and the manifestation of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ (Ti 2:11-13).

Reflection:

Many of us are aware of the hollowness of a materialistic attitude during the Christmas season, of how it can smother the spiritual message of Christ's birth. In this vein, the Second Vatican Council stated :

Since in our times, variations of materialism are rampant everywhere, even among Catholics, the laity should not only learn doctrine more carefully, especially those main points which are the subjects of controversy, but should also provide the witness of an evangelical life in contrast to all forms of materialism (The Laity, 31).

We are called, then, not just to avoid materialism in our own lives, but to serve as an example to others of simplicity of lifestyle and the priority of spiritual values over the material.

Application:

Let us simply take Our Lady's advice today to, "prepare…for Christmas by means of penance, prayer, and works of charity…do not look toward material things because then you will not be able to experience Christmas."

Medjugorje Day By Day Dec 19 - A FLOWER BY THE CRIB

St. John of the Cross, Carmelite Priest and Doctor, Spain (c. 1542-1591)
Of St. John of the Cross it is written that the Holy Eucharist was "all his glory, all his happiness, and for him far surpassed all the things of the earth" (The Collected Works of St. John of The Cross).

Mother Teresa -
We Christians cannot be divided.
We must all work together.
We are all one.
In this unity, where two or three are gathered,
Christ is there with us.

Meditations by Padre Pio - May the Holy Family never withdraw its loving gaze from you and your family, Model yourselves on it and you will have peace, and spiritual and temporal well-being.

Archbishop Fulton Sheen -
Our conscience guides our behavior
"Two considerations are helpful in developing a good disposition. The first is to be mindful that a happy conscience makes a happy outlook on life, and an unhappy conscience makes us miserable on the inside and everyone else miserable on the outside. When our conscience bothers us, whether we admit it or not, we often try to justify it by correcting others, or by finding fault with them."

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html - Mary is my Instructress, who is ever teaching me how to live for God. My spirit brightens up in your gentleness and your humility, O Mary. (620)

In the evening, when I was praying, the Mother of God told me, Your lives must be like mine: quiet and hidden, in unceasing union with God, pleading for humanity and preparing the world for the second coming of God. (625)

March 25, 1936. In the morning, during meditation, God's presence enveloped me in a special way, as I saw the immeasurable greatness of God and, at the same time, His condescension to His creatures. Then I saw the Mother of God, who said to me,Oh, how pleasing to God is the soul that follows faithfully the inspirations of His grace! I gave the Savior to the world; as for you, you have to speak to the world about His great mercy and prepare the world for the Second Coming of Him who will come, not as a merciful Savior, but as a just Judge.

Oh, how terrible is that day! Determined is the day of justice, the day of divine wrath. The Angels tremble before it. Speak to souls about this great mercy while it is still the time for [granting] mercy. If you keep silent now, you will be answering for a great number of souls on that terrible day. Fear nothing. Be faithful to the end. I sympathize with you. (635)

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY
These thoughts for a day are taken from a daily meditation book based on the Messages of Our Lady of Medjugorje by Father Richard J. Beyer, Ave Maria Press.

Dec 19 - A FLOWER BY THE CRIB

The Blessed Mother speaks of the family and dedication to Christ:

Dear children, today I would like you to do something concrete for Jesus Christ. As a sign of dedication to the Lord, I want each family member to bring a flower to him before Christmas. I wish every member of the family to have a flower by the crib of Jesus so that when he comes he will see your dedication to him! (Weekly Message Dec 20,1984)

In the end we are all one family for we have the same Father:

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth takes its name (Eph 3:14-15).

Reflection:

Our Lady often speaks of the family in her messages at Medjugorje. She stresses that it is the cradle of faith and prayer, where we first learn to love. Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a German clergyman who was imprisoned by the Nazis for his beliefs, wrote:

Most people have forgotten nowadays what a home can mean, though some of us have come to realize it as never before. It is a kingdom of its own in the midst of the world, a haven of refuge amid the turmoil of our age, nay more, a sanctuary.

It is not founded on the shifting sands of private and public life, but has its peace in God. For it is God who gave it its special meaning and dignity, its nature and privilege, its destiny and worth.

Let us pray, as Our Lady asks, that our families be bright flowers of love as we prepare to celebrate the birth of the Messiah.

Application:
At Christmas, as a family, plan to bring a flower or poinsettia to Mass and place it at the crib or nativity scene "as a sign of dedication to Jesus."

SHORT POWERFUL PRAYER THROUGH ST. JOSEPH

"Glorious St. Joseph, tenderhearted father, faithful
guardian of Jesus, chaste spouse of the Mother of
God, I ask you to join me in praising God the Father
through His Divine Son who died on the cross and
rose again to give us sinners new life. Through the
Holy Name of Jesus, pray with me that we may obtain
from the eternal Father the favor we ask. (here
state your intention)."

Say this prayer for nine consecutive days.

Fear not! God is your shelter (the 23rd Psalm and the Lord’s Prayer. God never fails. Don’t fail him. Call on Jesus. Jesus on the mainline, tell him what you want!
