21 OCT. AFRICAN DIASPORA CHRISTIANS’ WARNING PROPHECY MEDITATIONS FOR BLACK CATHOLICS, COPTICS, AND ORTHODOX LITURGICAL CHURCHES IN THE MYSTICAL BODY OF CHRIST

For the coming plagues and illnesses:

FOR THE LITURGICAL CHURCH MEMBERS ONLY (AND OTHERS WHO BELIEVE. TEST! DISCERN THE SPIRIT! )

From Jo Ann Riggio, RN I Extend the Baptism of Truth to you. Please accept it and pass it on.

Dear friends and family,

I extend the Baptism of Truth to you with all of my heart and love. Please accept it. Let me expain:

Sept 14-16, 09 I went on a pilgrimage to Holy Love, Maranantha Springs in Elyria Ohio. I have been there many times before. (www.holylove.org) It is an Ecumenical apparition site where Our Lady appears to a visionary as well as Jesus and some of the saints.

During the apparition, Our Lady invited those present to accept the Baptism of Truth, which I did as I was present on the United Hearts Field at the time. An angel was given to those who accepted this Baptism of Truth to guard the Truth in their hearts. Therefore, I believe I received one.

The other day , I received messages from Holy Love regarding the Baptism of Truth via their website. There are two messages for September 18, 2009. (www.holylove.org). In the first message, Our Lady says, "Those who were here present can now extend this Baptism of Truth to others simply by desiring to do so in their own heart. It can be multiplied and proliferated by all who recieve it." .......

The second message is from Jesus, He says , " ....I want to help you understand that the Baptism of Truth which you received in the field of the United Hearts on the Feast of My Mother's Sorrows, can change the heart of the world if proliferated with zeal. Do so then with Holy Love in your hearts."....
So my dear friends and family, I , with love in my heart and all the zeal within me extend this Baptism of Truth to you. Please accept it and pass it on to those you know and love and ask them to do the same. Together, with Jesus and Mary, let us all change the heart of the world! AMEN!

With all my love,

Jo Ann Riggio, RN

PS: Please go to the website (www.holylove.org) for the complete messages of September 18, 2009. May you be blessed abundantly.

Blessed Mother says: "Praise be to Jesus."

"In this country, truth has become so compromised that people do not know truth from fiction. That is why I extended to everyone the Baptism of Truth on My Feast of Sorrows. Those who were here present* can now extend this Baptism of Truth to others by simply desiring to do so in their own heart. It can be multiplied and proliferated by all who receive it. The angels given to My children in the Field of the United Hearts on the night of the apparition will not be multiplied with each Baptism of Truth, but will continually guard the truth in the hearts of those who had received angels at the apparition that night."

"You will make this known."

* Blessed Mother is referring to those pilgrims present in the United Hearts Field at the time of Her apparition.

METAPHYSICAL PROPOSAL ON THE MODE OF USING HAWTHORN

FOR THE COMING PLAGUES…HAWTHORN

(QUESTION FOR DISCERNMENT- Is this swine flu ? H1n1? Sars? Bird flu? You do the prayerful research!)

As given by our BLESSED MOTHER MARYAM, August 5, 1880:
"There will be a grave illness which human science will not be able to
alleviate. This illness will attack firstly the heart, then the spirit, and at
the same time, the tongue. It will be horrible.

The heat accompanying it will be a devouring fire insupportable and so intense that the members of the body affected will be red -- an unendurable fiery red. At the end of seven days this
disease, sown like a seed in the field (incubation period) will spread
everywhere rapidly and make great progress."

"My children, here is the ONLY remedy which could save you. You are familiar with the Hawthorn which grows practically in all hedges.

The leaves of the Hawthorn, not the wood, can arrest the progress of this disease."

"You will gather the leaves, not the wood. Even dry, they will keep their efficacy.

You will put them into boiling water and leave them there for 14 minutes, covering the receptacle so that the steam remains therein.

At the onset of this disease, one must use this remedy three times a day."

"This disease will produce a continual vomiting and nausea. If the remedy is taken too late, the part of the body affected will become black and in the black there will be seen a sort of pale, yellow streak."

NO ONE HAS TO BELIEVE ANYTHING! TEST. DISCERN THE SPIRIT!

A SLIGHT CHANGE FOR CHILDREN- 8 MINUTES)

Note: It is a tradition that the Hawthorn was the plant from which Pilate’s Roman soldiers wove the CROWN OF THORNS.

Daily Consecration to the Eternal Father

For the greater glory of God and for the salvation of all, I consecrate myself to You, O' Eternal Father, as one of Your faithful remnant. Behold, I come to do Your Will. With the help of Your Grace, I will keep Your Commandments. I will love and reverence You with all my heart, soul, mind and strength. I will love my neighbor as You love me.

I make this Consecration through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sacred Heart of Your beloved Son, Jesus.

O' Eternal Father, send forth Your Holy Spirit to restore my/our broken image and likeness of You. Send forth also Your entire Heavenly Court, all the celestial choirs of Your angels and all Your Saints, to aid me/us in my/our struggle against all the forces of evil in this present darkness. Amen. (Adapted from the Father of All Mankind Apostolate).

The Lord's Prayer

How many of us have said the “Our Father” with so little thought, so little reverence, and so little fruitfulness? However, when we are open to the Holy Spirit within us and pray from the heart, look at what can happen:"

Our Father, (“Our” Father—not “My” Father - all of God’s children of all races, all colors & all creeds)

Our Father, (Abba, “Daddy” God)

Who art in Heaven, (and Who art in me)

Hallowed be Thy Name. (Holy be Thy Name, praised be Thy Name, thanks be to Thy Most Holy Name)

Thy Kingdom come. (now - on earth and in me)

Thy Will be done, (now - on earth and in me)

on earth as it is in Heaven. (at the Throne of God, with the Trinity, Our Lady and all the Angels and Saints)

Give us this day our daily bread. (the Bread of your Divine Will, the Bread of Life in the Eucharist, and the bread we need to eat to sustain our bodies)

And forgive us our trespasses(forgive us our sins, our imperfections and our hesitancies in the face of temptation)

As we forgive those (or as we choose not to forgive those) who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,(for we are weak, we are worthless, we are wretched & we are nothing)

But deliver us from evil.(for it is only through your grace, not by our works alonenor our merit that we can escape eternal damnation)

Amen. (So I hope. So be it).

Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary Protectress of Africa

Holy Mary, Mother of God, Protectress of Africa, you have given to the world the true Light, Jesus Christ. Through your obedience to the Father and the grace of the Holy Spirit, you have given us the source of our reconciliation and our justice, Jesus Christ, our peace and our joy.

Mother of Tenderness and Wisdom, show us Jesus, your Son and the Son of God. Guide our path of conversion, so that Jesus might shine his glory on us in every aspect of our personal, familial and social lives.

Mother, full of Mercy and Justice, through your docility to the Spirit, the Counselor, obtain for us the grace to be witnesses of the Risen Lord, so that we will increasingly become the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

Mother of Perpetual Help, we entrust to your maternal intercession the preparation and fruits of the Second Special Assembly for Africa. Queen of Peace, pray for us! Our Lady of Africa, pray for us!

"I am full of mercy"

Dear Friends,

Renunciation of Vice

Put to death, then, the parts of you that are earthly: immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and the greed that is idolatry. Because of these the wrath of God is coming upon the disobedient.

By these you too once conducted yourselves, when you lived in that way. But now you must put them all away: anger, fury, malice, slander, and obscene language out of your mouths. Stop lying to one another, since you have taken off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed, for knowledge, in the image of its creator. Here there is no Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all and in all.

Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if one has a grievance against another; as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also do. And over all these put on love, that is, the bond of perfection. And let the peace of Christ control your hearts, the peace into which you were also called in one body. And be thankful. Colossians 3:5-15

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Joseph. Jesus spoke to him in these words:

"There is a big difference between a person that is attached to the things of the world and the person who lives totally for Me. Those that are attached to the world are filled with greed, impurity, passion and selfish desires. They are filled with anger, fury, malice, slander, obscene language and they lie to one another. They do not obey their Father in heaven. However, those who are My chosen ones are kind and humble, and filled with compassion, gentleness and patience. They forgive one another and they love one another. These will receive My peace, the peace I give to all My friends.

If you truly love Me, you will live a moral life by following all the commandments that the Father has given you. You cannot become a moral person by your own power. You need the help of My grace and I am always ready to give you an abundance of grace if you turn to Me and ask for this gift.

By yourself you are too weak to overcome sin but with the strength of My grace and humility you can overcome every temptation and live as My beloved brothers and sisters. Remember, I am full of mercy for you all."

"I came to redeem you"

Dear Friends,

General Admonition

I say this so that no one may deceive you by specious arguments. For even if I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing as I observe your good order and the firmness of your faith in Christ. So, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in him, rooted in him and built upon him and established in the faith as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.

See to it that no one captivate you with an empty, seductive philosophy according to human tradition, according to the elemental powers of the world and not according to Christ. For in him dwells the whole fullness of the deity bodily, and you share in this fullness in him, who is the head of every principality and power. In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not administered by hand, by stripping off the carnal body, with the circumcision of Christ. You were buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.

And even when you were dead in transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, he brought you to life along with him, having forgiven us all our transgressions; obliterating the bond against us, with its legal claims, which was opposed to us, he also removed it from our midst, nailing it to the cross; despoiling the principalities and the powers, he made a public spectacle of them, leading them away in triumph by it. Colossians 2:4-15

Here below is the message from Our Savior and Lord given to Joseph. Jesus spoke to him in these words,

"There are many today in every country who argue that I do not exist and that you are foolish to believe in Me or to go to Church. They say that I was just a human being like everybody else and I am dead and all should forget about Me. Their poor arguments prove nothing for they are empty words.

You can ask these people a question like this: 'His Apostles believed that He was the Son of God, the Messiah, the Savior, who had been announced for hundreds and hundreds of years. He came with the power of God, healing the sick, bringing back the dead to life and although He was killed by hanging on the cross, He rose from the dead on the third day and He was seen by all the Apostles.

How can a mere man do all these things?' Only God can do such things. Therefore, I am the Son of God and your Savior. Yes, I came to redeem you from your sins and to show you the way to heaven. Come, believe in Me and follow Me, and you will be in heaven with Me one day. I love you all."

"The truth is given to you by My Church"

Dear Friends,

The Preeminence of Christ

He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For in him were created all things in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things were created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. He is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things he himself might be preeminent.

For in him all the fullness was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile all things in him, making peace by the blood of his cross (through him), whether those on earth or those in heaven.

And you who once were alienated and hostile in mind because of evil deeds he has now reconciled in his fleshy body through his death, to present you holy, without blemish, and irreproachable before him, provided that you persevere in the faith, firmly grounded, stable, and not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, am a minister. Colossians 1:15-23

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Joseph. Jesus spoke to him in these words,

"My great friend, St. Paul, was very fond of writing glowing tribute about Me. Everything he wrote, though, is the truth. I am the image of God the Father as I told the Apostles when they asked to see the Father.

Indeed those who see Me, see the Father. Everything was created in Me. I am the head of the Church and the Church is My Body. I am also the firstborn from the dead and I reconciled all things through the shedding of My blood on the cross.

I am the one who reconciled you with the Father by My sacrifice on the cross. Your sins have been atoned and at baptism you are made holy and without blemish. Remain steadfast in the faith until the end. Cooperate with the graces I give you every day so that you can remain on the way that leads to everlasting life in heaven.

Follow the Gospel that the Church preaches to you continuously. Do not have itchy ears by listening to others, who do not follow Me, but try to draw you away from Me by presenting you with their false ideas. The truth is given to you by My Church."

"Accept My peace and love"

Dear Friends,

Thanksgiving and Prayers for continued Progress

We always give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, for we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and the love that you have for all the holy ones because of the hope reserved for you in heaven. Of this you have already heard through the word of truth, the gospel, that has come to you. Just as in the whole world it is bearing fruit and growing, so also among you, from the day you heard it and came to know the grace of God in truth, as you learned it from Epaphras our beloved fellow slave, who is a trustworthy minister of Christ on your behalf and who also told us of your love in the Spirit.

Therefore, from the day we heard this, we do not cease praying for you and asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding to live in a manner worthy of the Lord, so as to be fully pleasing, in every good work bearing fruit and growing in the knowledge of God, strengthened with every power, in accord with his glorious might, for all endurance and patience, with joy giving thanks to the Father, who has made you fit to share in the inheritance of the holy ones in light. He delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us in the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:3-14

Here is the message received from Our Lord and Savior and addressed to Joseph. Jesus spoke to him these words,

"Prayer is very important in the lives of Christians. Prayer is the elevation of the mind and heart to God. All are called to worship the Father and that is what you do when you go to Holy Mass on Sundays. Give your heart to Him and acknowledge Him as your Creator. In prayer you can also ask the Father in My name for what you need. He is always ready to help you.

It is the Father who sent Me into the world to bring you out of the grip of the evil one who is the power of darkness and I brought you out into the light of God and into My Kingdom that will last forever.

If you remain in My Kingdom, you will bear good fruit and you will be strengthened with My grace to live in close union with the Father and with Me in the power of the Holy Spirit. You will have trials but endure them with patience and in time they will go away. Accept My peace and love, which I send to you in abundance every day. I bless you."

"Father, forgive them"

Dear Friends,

Joy and Peace

Rejoice in the Lord always. I shall say it again: rejoice! Your kindness should be known to all. The Lord is near. Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God.

Then the peace of the Lord that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me. Then the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4: 4 - 9

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior addressed to Joseph. Jesus spoke to him these words,

"I am always very near to you, and so you should be happy and rejoice every day. If I am with you, what should you fear. Be ready to say thank you to Your Heavenly Father every day for all that He does for you. Get rid of all anxiety and have confidence in Me. I am there to help you if you turn to Me. Pray regularly and bring all your petitions to Me and you will have peace in your heart.

Live, My friends, honorable lives and be just with every person. Remain pure of heart and love all those you meet. Go and help the poor, the elderly and the sick. It might be only to visit them and to pray for them. Do everything well and you will be praised for it. In doing all these beautiful things, you will delight Your Father and I and we will bless you with much peace and love.

Do not keep a grudge against anyone but forgive all the people that have hurt you in any way. I forgave before I died all those who had whipped Me, condemned Me, and nailed Me to the cross to die. I said before I died, "Father, forgive them, they know not what they do." If I could forgive those who killed Me, then you too can forgive those who hurt you. I love you all.

"Take My hand today"

Dear Friends,

Forward in Christ

It is not that I have already taken hold of it (righteousness) or have already attained perfect maturity, but I continue my pursuit in hope that I may possess it, since I have indeed been taken possession of by Christ Jesus. Brothers, I for my part do not consider myself to have taken possession. Just one thing: forgetting what lies behind but straining forward to what lies ahead, I continue my pursuit toward the goal, the prize of God's upward calling, in Christ Jesus. Let us, then, who are perfectly mature adopt this attitude.

And if you have a different attitude, this too God will reveal to you. Only, with regard to what we have attained, continue on the same course. Join with others in being imitators of me, brothers, and observe those who thus conduct themselves according to the model you have in us. For many, as I have often told you and now tell you even in tears, conduct themselves as enemies of the cross of Christ.

Their end is destruction. Their God is their stomach; their glory is in their shame. Their minds are occupied with earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we also await a savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. He will change our lowly body to conform with his glorified body by the power that enables him also to bring all things into subjection to himself. Philippians 3: 12 - 21

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior addressed to Joseph. Jesus spoke to him in these words,

"St. Paul often wrote about his pursuit, his goal and his straining to attain the goal of perfect maturity and to enter heaven one day. I call you all, My brothers and sisters, to imitate the saints like St. Paul in working hard to subject yourselves completely to Me in order to attain holiness.

Do not be like those who put their minds on the things of this world and forget about Me. Worldly things will not be able to satisfy your heart. I am the only one who can bring you what your whole being is searching for.

Do not throw away your salvation for things that last but a short time. Instead work hard for the things that last forever. Be My friend today and every day and you will be with Me one day in heaven. Strive to climb the mountain in order to reach holiness with the graces I give you. Take My hand today."

"Love your Father"

Dear Friends,

Obedience and Service in the World

So then, my beloved, obedient as you have always been, not only when I am present but all the more now when I am absent, work out your salvation with fear and trembling. For God is the one who, for his good purpose, works in you both to desire and to work. Do everything without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine like lights in the world, as you hold on to the word of life, so that my boast for the day of Christ may be that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.

But, even if I am poured out as a libation upon the sacrificial service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with all of you. In the same way you also should rejoice and share your joy with me. Philippians 2: 12 - 18

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and God given to Joseph. Jesus spoke to him in these words,

"All those who believe in God the Father are called to obey Him in everything. Be obedient to the Ten Commandments for in following them you show your love for the Father who created you and keeps you in being at every moment.

The first commandment teaches that all are to worship God and to serve Him alone. Your whole life should be based on faith in God. Your first obligation is to obey your Father in everything. You are to hope in Him and to love Him with all your heart. Do not be indifferent to God but be grateful for all that He does for you.

You are all to adore God and in so doing you acknowledge that He is God and the Lord of everything. Prayers are also offered to God for all your needs. Pray with confidence that He is there and is listening to you and that He will grant you all that you truly need.

You are not to have other gods before the Father. You are not to form any gods either of people, animals or birds and worship them. This is an affront against your Father and a terrible sin. You have only one God and Father in heaven and do not try to make yourself an imitation. Remain free from the occult and all magic and sorcery. These things are of the evil one. Love your Father and follow Him and you will have peace."

MEDJUGORGE MESSAGES

Medjugorje Day By Day Oct 23 - I WANTED TO ROUSE THE FAITH

"What can I desire besides this consecrated Host? In all heaven and earth, what is there apart from You that can satisfy me? O sweetness, O beauty, O power of love!"
Concepcion Cabrera de Armida, Servant of God

Mother Teresa -
You need only ask at night before you go to bed, " What did I do to Jesus today? " " What did I do for Jesus today? "
" What did I do with Jesus today? "
You have only to look at your hands.

Meditations by Padre Pio - Anxiety is one of the greatest traitors that real virtue and solid devotion can ever have. It pretends to warm us to do good works, but doesn't and we grow cold; it makes us run only to make us trip. One must be careful of this on all occasions particularly at prayer.

And to better succeed it would be well to remember that graces and the consolations of prayer are not waters of this earth, but of Heaven, and that therefore all our efforts are not sufficient to make them fall, even though it is necessary to prepare oneself with great diligence, but always humbly and tranquilly; one must keep one's heart turned to Heaven and wait from there the Heavenly dew.

Archbishop Fulton Sheen -
Making truth personal through solitude with God

"Only in solitariness is true spirituality born, when the soul stands naked before its God. In that moment these are the only two realities in the universe. In this discovery is born love of neighbor, for then we love our fellow human beings, not because of what they can do for us, but because we see that they too are real or potential children of God. Though truth is not personal, we make it personal by contemplation."

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html -
During Holy Mass, I saw the Lord Jesus nailed upon the cross amidst great torments. A soft moan issued from His Heart. After some time, He said, I thirst. I thirst for the salvation of souls. Help Me, My daughter, to save souls. Join your sufferings to My Passion and offer them to the heavenly Father for sinners. (1032)

Monday of Holy Week. I asked the Lord to let me take part in His Sorrowful Passion that I might experience in soul and body, to the extent that this is possible for a creature, His bitter Passion. I asked to experience all the bitterness, insofar as this was possible. And the Lord answered that He would give me this grace, and that on Thursday, after Holy Communion, He would grant this in a special way. (1034)

I find myself so weak that were it not for Holy Communion I would fall continually. One thing alone sustains me, and that is Holy Communion. From it I draw my strength; in it is all my comfort. I fear life on days when I do not receive Holy Communion. I fear my own self. Jesus concealed in the Host is everything to me. From the tabernacle I draw strength, power, courage, and light. Here, I seek consolation in time of anguish. I would not know how to give glory to God if I did not have the Eucharist in my heart. (1037)

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY

These thoughts for a day are taken from a daily meditation book based on the Messages of Our Lady of Medjugorje by Father Richard J. Beyer, Ave Maria Press.

Oct 23 - I WANTED TO ROUSE THE FAITH

During this apparition on a Monday, Marija asks the Gospa why she failed to give her regular weekly message :

I do not wish to force anyone to do what they neither feel or desire, even though I had a special message for the parish in which I wanted to rouse the faith of each believer. But truly, only a small number have accepted my Thursday messages, when in the beginning there were many. It's become a routine affair for them. And lately some are asking for the message only our of curiosity, and not out of faith and devotion to my Son and me (Special Message April 30, 1984).

Also concerned that the people persevere in their faith, Christ said :

Be faithful until death, I will give you the crown of life (Rev 2 :10).

Reflection:

A missionary named Noreen Towers had worked for years among the poor in Nigeria. In spite of all her efforts, she saw absolutely no progress. She says : " I became despondent. I finally reached the breaking point one night … I was beaten. When I went to bed, I didn't know how I could continue.

The next morning, shortly after she awoke, something strange happened to Noreen. It was as though Jesus said to her, " Can you not trust my plan for you? "She writes :

Then I realized that I did not have to see the plan; I only had to trust him. I arose form my bed a different person. My encounter with the living Christ changed me from a broken, defeated person into a person with unshakable hope and faith.

Today, the woman's work among the poor is bearing remarkable fruit.

Like all the virtues, perseverance is a gift of grace, yet Christ never fails to bestow it on those who ask.

This is the primary challenge to rely not on our own strength and endurance, but on the Lord's. It was summarized once in a small prayer : " O Lord, I can't. You can. Please. "

Application:

Today, let us pray to Our Lady for perseverance under one of her most revered titles, Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

Medjugorje Day By Day Oct 22 - PRAY FOR PEACE

Mother Teresa -
Understand the tenderness of God's love. You are precious to Him. He loves you, and He loves you so tenderly that He has carved you on the palm of His hand. " I have inscribed you on the palms of my hand. " (Isaiah 49:16)

Meditations by Padre Pio - Proverbs praises the strong woman: "She puts her hands to the distaff," we are told, and I willing say a few words to you on this matter: Your distaff is the accumulation of your desires.

Therefore spin a little every day, thread by thread weave your design until it is finished and you will infallibly succeed. But be careful not to hurry, because you will tangle the thread with knots and confuse the spindle. Therefore, advance always, and even if you progress at a slow pace, you will still travel far.

Archbishop Fulton Sheen -
Only through silence can we delve beneath the surface of the soul
"What is really important is what happens within us, not outside us. The rapidity of communication, the hourly news broadcasts, tomorrow's news the night before - all these make people live on the surface of their souls. The result is that very few live inside themselves. They have their moods determined by the world. Instead of carrying their own atmosphere with them, as the earth does as it revolves around the sun, they are like barometers that register every change in the world outside. Silence alone can give them an inner sanctuary into which they may retire for repose, as hidden gardens wherein like Adam and Eve before the Fall they walk with God in the cool of the evening."

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY

Oct 22 - PRAY FOR PEACE

The following message was given to Marija for the prayer group and pilgrims who had gathered on Mt. Podbrdo :

Dear children, I thank you for having come up here

tonight to pray. At this time your Mother asks you to pray for peace in the world. Therefore, I ask you to come up often on Mt. Kriezevac and Apparition Hill in order to pray for peace and the salvation of the world (Visionary Prayer Group (November 16, 1990).

When he wrote his epistle, James was also thinking of peace :

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace for those who make peace (Jas a3 :17-18).

Reflection:

The Blessed Mother urges us strongly to pray for peace, more than using the following prayer :

God the Father, origin of divinity, good beyond all good, and fair beyond all fair, you are the abode of calmness, peace, and concord. Put an end to the discord that separates us form one another, and lead us back to a unity of love that may be a reflection of your divine nature.

As you are above all things, unite us by the unanimity of a good mind, so that through the embrace of love and the bonds of affection we may become spiritually one both in ourselves and in each other by means of your peace which renders all things peaceful (St. Dionysius).

Application:

Because of Our Lady's strong desire that we pray for peace, make this one of your major prayer intentions each day.

Medjugorje Day By Day Oct 21 - FALL ASLEEP IN PRAYER

They deceive themselves who believe that union with God consists in ecstasies or raptures, and in the enjoyment of Him. For it consists in nothing except the surrender and subjection of our will - with our thoughts, words and actions - to the will of God.... -- St. Teresa of Avila RCAV 20.10.06

Mother Teresa -
Remember that when your heart feels restless, when your heart feels hurt, when your heart feels like breaking then remember, " I am precious to Him. He has called me by name. I am His. He loves me. "

And to prove that love He died on the cross.

Meditations by Padre Pio - Do not be saddened by the sad spectacle of human injustice; even this has its value in the economy of things. It is over this that you will one day see arise the inevitable triumph of the Justice of God!

Archbishop Fulton Sheen -
Virtue is the key to Truth

A mirror is silent, yet it reflects forests, sunsets, flowers and faces. Great ascetic souls, given to years of meditation, have taken on a radiance and a beauty which are beyond the outlines of face. They seem to reflect, like the mirror on the outside, the Christ they bear within."

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html - Today, when the doctor [Adam Silberg] making his rounds came to see me, he somehow didn't like the way I looked. Naturally, I was suffering more, and so my temperature had gone up considerably. Consequently, he decided I must not go down for Holy Communion until my temperature dropped to normal.

I said, "All right," although pain seized my heart; but I said I would go only if I had no fever. So he agreed to that. When the doctor left, I said to the Lord, "Jesus, now it is up to You whether I shall go or not," and I didn't think about it anymore, although the thought kept coming to my mind:

I am not to have Jesus-no, that's impossible-and not just once but for several days, until my temperature drops. But in the evening, I said to the Lord, "Jesus, if my Communions are pleasing to You, I beg You humbly, grant that I have not one degree of fever tomorrow morning." (878)

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY

Oct 21 - FALL ASLEEP IN PRAYER

The following advice was given to Jelena on prayer :
In the evening, if you fall asleep in prayer and in peace, you will wake up in the morning thinking of Jesus. Then you will be able to pray for peace. But if you fall asleep in distraction, the day after will be clouded and you will even forget to pray that day (Locutionist Jelena & Mirijana October 30, 1983).

In this passage, the psalmist speaks with confidence that the Lord will hear his earnest prayer :
But I call upon God,

And the Lord will save me.

Evening and morning and at noon

I utter my complaints and moan,

And he will hear my voice.

--Psalm 55 :6-17

Reflection:

As we see, Our Lady stresses the importance of prayer throughout the day, especially in the morning and at night. These have always been traditional prayer times for the church, and the Divine Office is structured in this way. It has the effect of sanctifying the entire day.

The following are two prayers composed by St. Alphonsus Liguori especially for the morning and evening hours :

A Morning Prayer

Most holy and divine Trinity, one God in three Persons, I praise you and give you thanks for all the favors yow have bestowed on me. Your goodness has preserved me until now. I offer you my whole being and in particular all my thoughts, works, and deeds, together with all the trails I may undergo today. Give them your blessing. May your Divine Love animate them and may they serve your greater glory. I make this morning offering in union with Mary, his Virgin Mother and who was always the faithful handmaid of the Lord.

An Evening Prayer

Jesus Christ my God, I adore you and I thank you for all the graces you have given me this day. I offer you my sleep and all and all the moments of this night, and I implore you to keep me safe from sin.

To this end I take refuge in your Sacred Heart and under the mantle of Our Lady, my Mother. Let your holy angels surround me and keep me in peace; and let your blessing be upon me.

Application:

Tomorrow, begin and end your day with these prayers, or a prayer of your own, as Our Lady asks.

Medjugorje Day By Day Oct 20 - PRAY TO THE HOLY SPIRIT

"Souls . . . leave me alone by night, alone by day, in the churches. They no longer care about the Sacrament of the Altar. Hardly anyone ever speaks of this Sacrament of Love. Even those who do speak, alas, do so with great indifference and coldness. My heart is forgotten" (Words of Jesus to St. Padre Pio).

Mother Teresa - Believe in Jesus trust in Him with blind and absolute confidence because He is Jesus. Believe that Jesus and Jesus alone is life and sanctity is nothing but that same Jesus intimately living in you; then His hand will be free with you.

Meditations by Padre Pio - All of us are not called by God to save souls and propagate His glory by the noble apostolate of preaching… (but) one can promote God's glory and work for the salvation of souls by means of a truly Christian life, by praying without ceasing that "His Kingdom come…" that "we may not be led into temptation" and that "He deliver us from evil." This is what you ought to do offering yourself continually to the Lord for this purpose.

Archbishop Fulton Sheen -
Whatever you do, you do it to Christ!
" On the Last Day, Our Blessed Lord said that He will judge us by our attitude to hospitality: `When did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison and not care for You?' (Matthew 25: 44). Hospitality, therefore, not only has the duties of which we are aware, but also the more terrible awareness that it is Christ Who is the Stranger.

In all our dealings, we are dealing with the Lord Himself, though we know it not. Maybe if we could see our wars aright, in between two trenches of the enemies, or between a plane in the sky and the target beneath, there is Christ's Body being shot full of holes. What men do to one another, they do to Him, whether the act be of kindness or bitterness. "

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html -
February 15, 1937. Today, I heard these words in my soul: Host pleasing to My Father, know, My daughter, that the entire Holy Trinity finds Its special delight in you, because you live exclusively by the will of God. No sacrifice can compare with this. (955)
After these words, the knowledge of God's will came to me; that is to say, I now see everything from a higher point of view and accept all events and things, pleasant and unpleasant, with love, as tokens of the heavenly Father's special affection. (956)

The pure offering of my will, will burn on the altar of love. That my sacrifice may be perfect, I unite myself closely with the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. When great sufferings will cause my nature to tremble, and my physical and spiritual strength will diminish, then will I hide myself deep in the open wound of the Heart of Jesus, silent as a dove, without complaint.

Let all my desires, even the holiest, noblest and most beautiful, take always the last place and Your holy will, the very first. The least of Your desires, O Lord, is more precious to me than heaven, with all its treasures. I know very well that people will not understand me; that is why my sacrifice will be purer in Your eyes. (957)

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY
These thoughts for a day are taken from a daily meditation book based on the Messages of Our Lady of Medjugorje by Father Richard J. Beyer, Ave Maria Press.

Oct 20 - PRAY TO THE HOLY SPIRIT

Our Lady speaks today of the Holy Spirit:
The important thing is to pray to the Holy Spirit that he may descend upon you. When you have him, you have everything. (FY 10-21-83
In John's gospel, Jesus also speaks of the Holy Spirit:

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever. This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him, because he abides with you, and he will be in you (John 14:16-17).

Reflection:

"Pray to the Holy Spirit," the Blessed Mother tells us today; and Jesus assures us that the Spirit" abides with you and is in you."

Let us then use this time to pray to the Spirit, using St. Augustine's Prayer for the Indwelling of the Spirit:

Holy Spirit, powerful Consoler, sacred Bond of the Father and the Son, Hope of the afflicted, descend into my heart and establish in it your loving dominion. Enkindle in my tepid soul the fire of your Love so that I may be wholly subject to you.

We believe that when you dwell in us, you also prepare a dwelling for the Father and the Son. Deign, therefore, to come to me, Consoler of abandoned souls, and Protector of the needy. Help the afflicted, strengthen the weak, and support the wavering.
Come and purify me. let no evil desire take possession of me. You love the humble and resist the proud. Come to me, glory of the living, and hope of the dying. Lead me by your grace that I may always be pleasing to you.

Application:

Continue to use this prayer throughout the week to deepen your devotion to the Spirit of God
Medjugorje Day By Day Oct 19 - LOVE WITH ALL YOUR HEART

Our Lady of the Rosary—Oct. 7
"The prayer of the Rosary, or five decades of it, after the Sacred Liturgy of the Eucharist, is what most unites us to God by the richness of the prayers .
. . we see that it is indeed a Trinitarian and a Eucharistic prayer, even
more than a Marian one. I do not know if we can find prayers more sublime or more appropriate to recite before the Blessed Sacrament" (Sr. Lucia of Fatima).

Mother Teresa - To be able to do all these, pray lovingly like children, with an earnest desire to love much and make loved the Love that is not loved.

Meditations by Padre Pio - I wholeheartedly bless the work of catechizing children, who are the little flowers of Jesus. I also bless the zealous work of missionaries.

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html -
I have desired death so much! I do not know whether I shall ever again in my life experience such great longing for God. There have been times when I fell into a swoon for Him. Oh, how ugly the earth when one knows heaven! I must do violence to myself in order to live. O will of God, you are my nourishment. (899)

Today, the Lord said to me, I demand of you a perfect and whole-burnt offering; an offering of the will. No other sacrifice can compare with this one. I Myself am directing your life and arranging things in such a way that you will be for Me a continual sacrifice and will always do My will. And for the accomplishment of this offering, you will unite yourself with Me on the Cross. I know what you can do. I Myself will give you many orders directly, but I will delay the possibility of their being carried out and make it depend on others. But what the superiors will not manage to do, I Myself will accomplish directly in your soul. And in the most hidden depths of your soul, a perfect holocaust will be carried out, not just for a while, but know, My daughter, that this offering will last until your death. But there is time, so that I the Lord will fulfill all your wishes. I delight in you as in a living host; let nothing terrify you; I am with you. (923)

Quote of the Day - Chastity, or cleanness of heart, holds a glorious and distinguished place among the virtues, because she alone enables man to see God; hence Truth Itself said: "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." -St. Augustine
Today's Tidbit - The city of Naples has a vial of St. Januarius' blood. Each year, on his feast this vial of blood liquefies. In years when this miracle did not occur, severe disasters fell upon the city.

Oct 19 - LOVE WITH ALL YOUR HEART

The Queen of Peace speaks of love today:

If you love with all your heart, you will receive so much. If you hate, you will lose every thing. Dear Children, love makes great things. The more love you have within you, the more you can love the people around you. That is why I ask you to pray unceasingly to Jesus that he fill your hearts with love (LJM 4-12-87).

Christ also speaks of the great commandment:

This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends. (John 15:12-13).

Reflection:

Application:

As Our Lady says today, "Pray to Jesus that he may fill your hearts with love," and be on the lookout for those in trouble.

Medjugorje Day By Day Oct 18 - ST. LUKE

Ann. Our Lady's Apparition at Fatima & the Miracle of the Sun (1917)-Oct. 13
"Let us listen to Mary Most Holy, in whom the mystery of the Eucharist appears, more than in anyone else, as a mystery of light. Gazing upon Mary, we come to know the transforming power present in the Eucharist" (Pope John Paul II, Ecclesia de Eucharistia, 62).

"The Year of the Eucharist has its source in the amazement with which the Church contemplates this great Mystery . . . . I consider it a great grace to be able to call the whole Church to contemplate, praise, and adore in a special way this ineffable Sacrament" (Pope John Paul II, Mane Nobiscum Domine, 29).

Mother Teresa - Serve Jesus with joy and gladness of spirit, casting aside and forgetting all that troubles and worries you.

Meditations by Padre Pio - Nor should you become confused, trying to understand whether you consented or not. So everything with an upright intention; this uprightness which must always be present in your actions, and whenever you valiantly and generously fight the evil tricks of the evil spirit.

Archbishop Fulton Sheen -
God wants us to get personal
" The age of discovery is not yet over and the greatest discovery yet remains to be made by every individual, namely, there are other people in the world besides oneself. As a former Prince of Wales once said: `Number Ten Downing Street can never be a substitute for the good neighbor;' neither can the Community Chest nor Social Welfare Agency. Immediate personal contact, courageous embracing of the worries and burdens involved in full personal and intimate relationships - these are the bloodstream of a healthy society. "

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html -

I will enclose myself in the chalice of Jesus so that I may comfort Him continually. I will do everything within my power to save souls, and I will do it through prayer and suffering.

I try always to be a Bethany for Jesus, so that He may rest here after all His labors. In Holy Communion, my union with Jesus is so intimate and incomprehensible that even if I wanted to describe it in writing I could not do so, because I lack the words. (735)

During Mass today, I saw the Lord Jesus, who said to me, Be at peace, My daughter; I see your efforts, which are very pleasing to Me. And the Lord disappeared, and it was time for Holy Communion. After I received Holy Communion, I suddenly saw the Cenacle and in it Jesus and the Apostles. I saw the institution of the Most Blessed Sacrament. Jesus allowed me to penetrate His interior, and I came to know the greatness of His majesty and, at the same time, His great humbling of Himself. The extraordinary light that allowed me to see His majesty revealed to me, at the same time, what was in my own soul. (757)

Quote of the Day - There is more value in a little study of humility and in a single act of it than in all the knowledge in the world. -St. Theresa of Avila

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY

Oct 18 - ST. LUKE

Since Luke was a physician, it is appropriate that the Madonna speaks of the sick today:
Pray for all the sick. Believe firmly. I will come to help, according to that which is in my power. I will ask my Son, Jesus, to help them. The most important thing, in the meantime, is a strong faith. Many who are sick think that it is sufficient to come here in order to be quickly healed. Some of them do not even believe in God, and even less in the apparitions, and then they ask for help from the Gospa! (FY 2-9-82).

In answer to questions about the sick in 1981, the Gospa responded:

Without faith, nothing is possible. All those who will believe firmly will be cured. (FY 7-24-81).

And last, from the Acts of the Apostles:

Yet more than ever believers were added to the Lord, great numbers of both men and women, so that they even carried out the sick into the streets, and laid them on cots and mats, in order that Peter's shadow might fall on some of them as he came by. A great number of people would also gather from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all cured. (Acts 5:14-16)

Reflection:

On this feast of St. Luke, the physician, we cannot help but be aware of the central role that faith plays in healing, for it is mentioned throughout scripture and Our Lady's messages as the one thing necessary.

As we see in her message, Mary asks us to "pray for the sick. Believe firmly...the most important thing is a strong faith." Again, on July 24, 1981: "Without faith, nothing is possible. All those who will believe firmly will be cured." When asked about a sick person on July 29, 1981, the Gospa responded, "Praise be Jesus! She will be cured. She must believe firmly."

Sacred scripture bears out the great healing power of faith. From today's passage from St. James: "This prayer uttered in faith will reclaim the one who is ill, and the Lord will restore him to health" (Jas 5:15).

Taken together, both Our Lady's messages and scripture emphasize that a firm, expectant faith is needed for healing at the hands of God. And this faith, in turn, is deepened and strengthened through prayer, the foundational message of Medjugorje.

On this his feast day, let us pray to St. Luke the physician to help us grow in faith and in prayer, that we may experience healing where it is most needed in our lives today, whether it be physical, mental or spiritual.

Application:

In prayer, call to mind someone who is ill and offer the Prayer for the Sick for them (January 14), which was given by Our Lady in Medjugorje for just such a purpose

Devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and devotion to the Holy Rosary . . . [are] the unparalleled solution to 'fight' Satan, renew our faith, convert sinners, save souls, and bring peace into our lives and into the world" (The Eucharist and The Rosary: The Power to Change the World).

"Exposition [of the Holy Eucharist] is the great need of our times" (St. Peter Julian Eymard).

Mother Teresa -
Let none glory in his success but refer all to God in deepest thankfulness; on the other hand, no failure should dishearten him as long as he has done his best.

Meditations by Padre Pio - As regards to the spiritual trials to which the paternal goodness of the Heavenly Father is subjecting you, I beg you to be resigned and if possible tranquil on the assurances of he who takes the place of God, and who speaks to you in His name; who loves you in Him and who desires every blessing for you. You are suffering it is true, but with resignation.

You are suffering, but do not fear, because God is with you and you don't offend Him, but you love Him. You are suffering, but believe, also, that Jesus is suffering within you, with you, for you.

Archbishop Fulton Sheen -
Wars stem from the neglect of morality!

" War is not necessary, but it does become an inseparable ailment of any world that abandons the supremacy of the spirit. Nietzche, after proclaiming the death of God in the nineteenth century, prophesied that the twentieth century would be a century of wars. There is a possible connection between the importance given to politics and the frequency of wars. In any era of history where politics is the major interest, war is the major consequence.

This does not mean that one ought to subscribe to the dictum of Karl von Clausewitz that war is the prosecution of politics by other means. It does mean however, that since politics stresses expediency and pragmatism on a great scale that dedication to truth and morality are minimized. Since the latter are essential for peace, war becomes a greater possibility. "

Quote of the Day I great you from Smyrna together with the Churches of God present here with me. They comfort me in every way, both in body and soul. My chains, which I carry about on me for Jesus Christ, begging that I may happily make my way to God, exhort you: persevere in you concord and in you community prayers. -St. Ignatius of Antioch

Today's Tidbit St. Ignatius was the first to use the term "Catholic Church" as a collective name for Christians.

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY

Oct 17 - THE SECRETS

During one apparition , Our Lady showed Mirjana the first secret, and saw the earth desolate. The Virgin said :

It is the upheaval of a region of the world. In the world there is so much sin. What can I do, if you do not help me?

Remember that I love you. God does not have a hard heart. But look around you and see what men do, for then you will no longer say that God's heart is hard, How many people come to church , to the house of God, with respect, strong faith, and a love for God? Very few! Now you have a time of grace and conversion. It is necessary to use it well (Special Message October 25, 1985).

And from Luke's gospel, Christ says :

There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars, and the earth distress among nations confused by the roaring of the sea and the waves. People will faint form fear and foreboding of what is coming upon the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory, Now when these things begin to take place, stand up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near (Lk 21 :25-28).

Reflection :

The chastisements spoken of In the Medjugorje secrets are not planned punishments from an angry God, but the final consequences of sin and evil in the world. Like a defective boiler building up with steam, it will eventually blow. Spiritual laws cannot be continuously violated any more than the laws of nature. It is the love and mercy of God that has sent the Blessed Virgin into the world to release the building pressure of sin.

But, as she has said many times, she cannot do it alone. She must have our prayers and sacrifices. "What can I do, » she says today, " if you do not help me?"

Application :

Today, review the priorities of your life. In what place have you put spirituality and prayer?

SHORT POWERFUL PRAYER THROUGH ST. JOSEPH

"Glorious St. Joseph, tender-hearted father, faithful
guardian of Jesus, chaste spouse of the Mother of
God, I ask you to join me in praising God the Father
through His Divine Son who died on the cross and
rose again to give us sinners new life. Through the
Holy Name of Jesus, pray with me that we may obtain
from the eternal Father the favor we ask. (here
state your intention)."

Say this prayer for nine consecutive days.

Fear not! God is your shelter (the 23rd Psalm and the Lord’s Prayer. God never fails). Don’t fail him. Call on Jesus. Jesus on the mainline, tell him what you want!
