Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary Protectress of Africa

Holy Mary, Mother of God, Protectress of Africa, you have given to the world the true Light, Jesus Christ. Through your obedience to the Father and the grace of the Holy Spirit, you have given us the source of our reconciliation and our justice, Jesus Christ, our peace and our joy.

Mother of Tenderness and Wisdom, show us Jesus, your Son and the Son of God. Guide our path of conversion, so that Jesus might shine his glory on us in every aspect of our personal, familial and social lives.

Mother, full of Mercy and Justice, through your docility to the Spirit, the Counselor, obtain for us the grace to be witnesses of the Risen Lord, so that we will increasingly become the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

Mother of Perpetual Help, we entrust to your maternal intercession the preparation and fruits of the Second Special Assembly for Africa. Queen of Peace, pray for us! Our Lady of Africa, pray for us!

URGENT MSG from GOD THE FATHER TO m. tague- - -August 5, 2009

GOD THE FATHER SPEAKS:

The sinking of NYC is no longer a remote possibility but is soon to be reality.
Deadly nuclear warfare is very near.
Storms of all sorts will lengthen and worsen.
Diseases are multiplying and spreading with absolutely no cures.
Havoc is everywhere.
Stay close to Me and pray incessantly.
Be alert! See, the signs are all around you!
All I have been telling you is now begun!
Wake up and and face reality.

Open your ears- - -your eyes- -your mind!
Sin begets war.
Amen! I, your God, have spoken!
The end of an Era has begun. Amen!

m. tague

August 5, 2009

NOTE: OUR BLESSED MOTHER AS 'OUR LADY OF FATIMA' SAID IN 1917 'WAR IS A PUNISHMENT FOR SIN.'
REMEMBER THAT WHEN THE FATHER OR JESUS SAY 'SOON' IT IS NOT IN OUR TIMING BUT IN HIS WHICH IS MUCH LONGER..THAN OURS..OR MUCH SHORTER DEPENDING UPON WHEN HIS JUSTICE WILL FALL..AND OF COURSE ONLY THE FATHER KNOWS WHEN..

Medjugorje Day By Day Aug 08 - ST. DOMINIC

"Now is above all the hour of the lay faithful, who, by their specific vocation to shape the secular world in accordance with the Gospel, are called to carry forward the Church's prophetic mission by evangelizing the various spheres of family, social, professional and cultural life."

Speaking of visiting our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, St. John Vianney
writes: "What a difference between the first Christians and ourselves! They
passed whole days and nights in the churches, singing the praises of the Lord or weeping over their sins; but things are not the same today. Jesus is forsaken, abandoned by us."

Mother Teresa

The time we spend in having our daily audience with God is the most precious part of the whole day.

Meditations by Padre Pio -
We should make a great effort to become holy and render great service to God and our neighbor (Letters III, p 469)

Archbishop Fulton Sheen -
Surrendering morality will be our downfall!

"At present two currents manifest themselves in our American way of life: one is in the direction of a great development of moral character both in individuals and in the nation; the other is toward the surrender of morality and responsibility through a socialist state in which there will be no morality but state-morality, no conscience but state-conscience. Of the two the first is by far the stronger, though neither politics nor economics has seen it."

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html -
Union with Jesus on the day of perpetual vows. Jesus, from now on Your Heart is mine, and mine is Yours alone. The very thought of Your Name, Jesus, is the delight of my heart. I truly would not be able to live without You, even for a moment, Jesus. Today my soul has lost itself in You, my only treasure. My love knows no obstacles in giving proof of itself to its Beloved.

The words of Jesus during my perpetual vows: My spouse, our hearts are joined forever. Remember to Whom you have vowed... everything cannot be put into words.

My petition while we were lying prostrate under the pall. I begged the Lord to grant me the grace of never consciously and deliberately offending Him by even the smallest sin or imperfection.

Jesus, I trust in You! Jesus, I love You with all my heart! When times are most difficult, You are my Mother.

For love of You, O Jesus, I die completely to myself today and begin to live for the greater glory of Your Holy Name.

Love, it is for love of You, O Most Holy Trinity, that I offer myself to You as an oblation of praise, as a holocaust of total self-immolation. And through this self-immolation, I desire the exaltation of Your Name, O Lord. I cast myself as a little rosebud at Your feet, O Lord, and may the fragrance of this flower be known to You alone. (239)

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY

AUGUST 8 - ST. DOMINIC

Our Lady gave the following message on the Vigil of Pentecost:

Dear children, tomorrow night pray for the Spirit of truth especially you of the parish. For you need the Spirit of truth to be able to convey the messages just the way they were given, neither adding anything to them, nor taking anything whatever away from them, but just as I said them (Weekly Message June 9,1984).

In John's gospel, Christ also speaks of testifying to the truth:

When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father, he will testify on my behalf. You also are to testify because you have been with me from the beginning (Jn. 15:26-27).
Reflection:

This passage from St. John was the motivating force behind the life and work of St. Dominic to preach the truth as contained in the gospels. Dominic (1170-1221) was one of the church's greatest preachers and founded, in fact, the Order of Preachers, or Dominicans.

From childhood he showed signs of a vocation, which was encouraged. He also gave evidence of a great concern for the poor. During a time of hunger he sold his books, precious items in his day, to feed the poor. Like St. Francis of Assisi, he saw poverty in practice as a remedy for many of the ills that afflicted the church in the late twelfth and early thirteenth centuries.

St. Dominic's ideal was to combine prayer and asceticism with study and the ministry of preaching. What one preached is learned in prayer and contemplation. "Bring to others what you contemplate," is the motto he gave to the order he founded. It could well be the motto of every Christian.

Application:

"You need the Spirit of truth, "Our Lady says today," to be able to convey the messages just the way they were given. "In the spirit St. Dominic, seek to share your faith with at least one other person this week.

Medjugorje Day By Day Aug 07 - FOLLOW THE MASS WELL!

Some 32 years ago, Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen said, "Who is going to save our Church? Not our bishops, not our priests and religious. It is up to you, the people. You have the minds, the eyes, the ears to save the Church. Your mission is to see that your priests act like priests, your bishops, like bishops and your religious act like religious."

(Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, before the Knights of Columbus, June 1972, http://www.marysremnant.org/News/2002/022702.html)

One single Mass gives more honor to God than all the penances of the Saints, the labors of the Apostles, the sufferings of the Martyrs and even the burning love of the Blessed Mother of God."
~ St. Alphonsus Liguori

Mother Teresa -
Both humility and prayer grow from an ear, mind, and tongue that have lived in silence with God, for in the silence of the heart God speaks.

Meditations by Padre Pio -
I am sure that you desire to know what the best abjection is, and I will tell you it is that which we have not chosen ourselves, or that which is less welcome to us. Or, to explain this better, those towards which we feel no inclination (Letters III p 572).

Archbishop Fulton Sheen -
Our Education system must be on the right target

"Someday our educators will awaken to several basic facts about youth: (1) Youth has an intellect and a will. The intellect is the source of his knowledge; the will, the source of his decisions.

If his choices are wrong, the youth will be wrong regardless of how much he knows. (2) Education through the communication of knowledge does not necessarily make a good man; it can conceivably make learned devils instead of stupid devils. (3) Education is successful when it trains the mind to see the right targets, and disciplines the will to choose them rather than the wrong targets."

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html -
When I was set at peace and taught how to follow God's paths, my spirit rejoiced in the Lord, and it seemed to me that I was running, not walking. My wings were spread for flight; I soared into the very heat of the sun, and I will not descend until I rest in Him, in whom my soul has lost itself forever.

And I subjected myself totally to the action of grace. God stoops very low to my soul. I do not draw back, nor do I resist Him, but I lose myself in Him as my only treasure. I am one with the Lord. It is as if the gulf between us, Creator and creature, disappears. For a few days, my soul was in a state of continuous ecstasy.

God's presence did not leave me for a single moment. And my soul remained in a continuous loving union with the Lord. But this in no way interfered with the performance of my duties. I felt I was transformed into love; I was all afire, but without being burned up. I lost myself in God unceasingly;

God drew me to himself so strongly and powerfully that sometimes I was not aware of being on earth. I had impeded and feared God's grace for so long, and now God himself, through Father Andrasz, has removed all difficulties. My spirit has been turned towards the Sun and has blossomed in His rays for Him alone; I understand no more... [The sentence breaks off here and begins a completely new thought in the next line.] (142)

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY
-

AUGUST 7 - FOLLOW THE MASS WELL!

Of the Mass, the Madonna once said:

Open the door wide, follow the Mass well! Go in the peace of God, my angels! If you suffer for a just cause, blessing will be even more abundant for you (First Years March 2, 1982).

St. Luke offers this account of Jesus' institution of the Eucharist:

Then he took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me. "And he did the same with the cup after supper, saying," This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood"(Lk 22:19-20).

Reflection:

During the winter lf 1992, I had the opportunity to visit Dachau concentration camp near Munich, where the Nazi's had imprisoned most of the clergymen and priests who had opposed the Third Reich. It was there that I acquired a remarkable booklet by the auxiliary bishop of Munich, Johannes Neuhausler, who had been a prisoner at Dachau himself. In chapter 7,"Christ at Dachau," he speaks of the incredible lengths the prisoners would go to in order to offer Mass and receive the Eucharist:

The Polish priest. were not permitted to practice their religion in the block, so they had to devise means and receive the Eucharist:

Many worked in the plantation greenhouse. While one of them kept guard and the other comrades pretended to be

working, the Polish priest who had spent the longest time in the camp knelt on the ground, with is face turned towards the greenhouse so as to give the impression that he was weeding. Indeed, the SS sentries might be spying from their watchtower.

The kneeling priest had pressed a small portable altar into the ground and there celebrated Mass. Many comrades hurried by, holding grass of plants in their hands as if they had some work to do there. They also knelt down and received holy communion form their own hands.

Application:

Share this story with a family member or friend. It helps us to deepen our appreciation for the Eucharist the point of Our Lady's message today.

Medjugorje Day By Day Aug 06 - THE TRANSFIGURATION OF THE LORD

AUGUST 5 - DEDICATION OF MARY MAJOR

Reflection:

Today we honor the Blessed Mother for two reasons:
It is her birthday (as related by the visionaries in Medjugorje), and it is also the anniversary of the dedication of the Church of St. Mary Major, the oldest church in the West dedicated to the Mother of God. On her birthday in 1985, Our Lady appeared in golden splendor and said:

Praised be Jesus Christ. My children, I am joyful to be with you this evening and to see so many of you. I give you my special blessing.

Grow in holiness through the messages; I will help you. Give your utmost and we will be together, sensitive to the sweetness of life, light, and joy. Go in the peace of God, my children, my little children. (Special Message August 5th, 1985

"Put all the good works in the world against one Holy Mass;
they will be as a grain of sand beside a mountain."
~ The Cure' of Ars

Mother Teresa -
In the silence of the heart, God speaks and you have to listen. Then in the fullness of your heart, because it is full of God, full of love, full of compassion, full of faith, your mouth will speak.

Meditations by Padre Pio -
You must principally insist on the basis of christian justice and the foundation of goodness; that is on the virtue which one deliberately tries to imitate: humility, interior and exterior humility, but more interior than exterior, more felt than shown, more profound than visible (Letters III p 717).

Archbishop Fulton Sheen -
Tears of salvation!

"Even in their early failures, the parents are not to be discouraged, remembering that fifteen centuries ago when the heart of a mother was broken for her wanton boy, St. Ambrose said to her: 'Fear not, Monica; the child of so many tears cannot perish.' That vain and wanton boy grew up to be the great and learned St. Augustine, whose Confessions everyone ought to read before he dies."

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html -

A great mystery has been accomplished between God and me. Courage and strength have remained in my soul. When the time of adoration came to an end, I came out and calmly faced everything I had feared so much before. When I came out into the corridor, a great suffering and humiliation, at the hands of a certain person, was awaiting me. I accepted it with submission to a higher will and snuggled closely to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, letting Him know that I was ready for that for which I had offered myself.

Suffering seemed to spring out of the ground. Even Mother Margaret herself was surprised. For others, many things passed unnoticed, for indeed it wasn't worth paying any attention to them; but in my case, nothing passed unnoticed; each word was analyzed, each step watched. One sister said to me, "Get ready, Sister, to receive a small cross at the hands of Mother Superior.

I feel sorry for you." But as for me, I rejoiced at this in the depths of my soul and had been ready for it for a long time. When she saw my courage, she was surprised. I see now that a soul cannot do much itself, but with God it can do all things. Behold what God's grace can do. Few are the souls that are always watchful for divine graces, and even fewer of such souls who follow those inspirations faithfully. (138)

AUGUST 6 - THE TRANSFIGURATION OF THE LORD

On this day, let us listen to St. Matthew's account of the transfiguration:

Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and his brother John and led them up a high mountain, by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and his face http://www.geocities.com/treilly43/"And he did the same with the cup after supper, saying," This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood"(Lk 22:19-20).

While one of them kept guard and the other comrades pretended to be working, the Polish priest who had spent the longest time in the camp knelt on the ground, with is face turned towards the greenhouse so as to give the impression that he was weeding.

"Be generous"

Dear Friends,
Many Parts in One Body
I urge you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, your spiritual worship. Do not conform yourself to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect.

For by the grace given to me I tell everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than one ought to think, but to think soberly, each according to the measure of faith that God has apportioned.

For as in one body we have many parts, and all the parts do not have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ and individually parts of one another. Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us exercise them: if prophecy, in proportion to the faith; if ministry, in ministering; if one is a teacher, in teaching; if one exhorts, in exhortation; if one contributes, in generosity; if one is over others, with diligence; if one does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. Romans 12:1–8

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Joseph. Jesus spoke to him in these words,

“How should you think of yourself? Do you think you are better than everybody else? Do not be puffed up and filled with pride. Know that you are a sinner and understand that by your own power you could never reach salvation.

It was I, your Savior, by My sacrifice on the cross who took away all your sins if you were repentant and placed you on the way to heaven. By My forgiveness, you have become the beloved of the Father and now you are called to follow Me. You received many graces to give you the strength to walk with Me every day.

My brothers and sisters, you form part of My Mystical Body. Although you are many, you form one Body, My Body. The example is your own body: it is made up of many parts and each part has a different function but all the parts together form just one body. In My own Mystical Body the Church, you all have different gifts and you are asked to use these gifts to enrich this one Body. Be generous in doing what I have called you to do. Some have been giving the gift of prayer and they are to spend time in prayer. Others are prophets and they are to prophecy to help My Church. Some have the gift of healing and they are to use it to help the sick. There are many gifts, use them for the glory of God.”

"I am the one sent by the Father to save you"

Dear Friends,

God’s Irrevocable Call

I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers, so that you will not become wise in your own estimation: a hardening has come upon Israel in part, until the full number of the Gentiles comes in, and thus all Israel will be saved, as it is written:

“The deliverer will come out of Zion,
he will turn away godlessness from Jacob's;

and this is my covenant with them
when I take away their sins.”

In respect to the gospel, they are enemies on your account; but in respect to election, they are beloved because of the patriarchs. For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable. Romans 11:25–29

Here is a message from Our Lord and Savior given to Joseph. Jesus spoke to him in these words,

“The Jewish people are My ancestors as My Mother was Jewish. All My Apostles including St. Paul were of Jewish origin. They are the people of Godand so many holy people came from this nation including the prophets and the patriarchs. However, most of them refused to accept Me as the Messiah and Lord. This was the reason why the early church had to turn to the Gentiles and bring them into My Church. However, before the end of the world, the Jewish nation will become Christian and already a good group of them are Christians today.

You who are non-Jews were privileged to receive the Gospel first and to believe in Me, your Savior. Whole nations have become members of My Church and today many more nations especially in Africa are becoming Christians. Unfortunately where there were many followers of mine in the past, today the number is going down as it is in many countries of Europe. I continue to call all the people of every nation to become My followers and to be members of My Church. Do not jeopardize your eternal salvation by following the lure of the world or false religions. Come now to Me and follow the true way to salvation. I am the one sent by the Father to save you.”

Medjugorje Day By Day Aug 04 - ST. JOHN VIANNEY

SUNDAY, AUGUST 5TH 1984

The celebration of the second millennium of Mary's birthday was preceded by three days of fasting and continuous prayer. Seventy priests heard confessions without respite; there were conversions in great numbers. Never in my life have I cried with sorrow, as I have cried this evening with joy. Thank you! (RN 18,27).
In anticipation of this day the Gospa had said:
The priest who will hear confession will have great joy on that day.
-

"How kind is our sacramental Jesus! He welcomes you at any hour of the day or night. His love never knows rest. He is always gentle toward you. When you visit Him, He forgets your sins and imperfections and speaks only of His joy, His tenderness and His love" (St. Peter Julian Eymard).

"Let us with Mary [Magdalene] also sit in devout meditation [with Jesus in
the Holy Eucharist], and hearken well what our Savior, being now our guest, will inwardly say unto us" (St. Thomas More).

Mother Teresa -

The fullness of our heart is expressed in our eyes, in our touch, in what we write, in what we say, in the way we walk, the way we receive, the way we need. That is the fullness of our heart expressing itself in many different ways.

Padre Pio - Nevertheless there is some difference between the virtue of humility and that of abjection, because humility is the recognition of ones abjection. Now the highest degree of humility is, not only to recognize one's abjection, but to love it. This is what I have exhorted you to do (Letters III p 570).

Archbishop Fulton Sheen -

"Parents hold the place of God in the home. If they act as tyrants they will develop unconsciously anti-religious sentiments in their children. Children love approbation and can be easily cast down into despair when blamed excessively for trivial faults.

With great difficulty can children ever be taught the Love and Mercy of God if His vice-regents in the home act without it and are so difficult to please. When good intentions are rated low, and children are put under the ban of dishonor, they are likely to show they are no better than their parents think they are."

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian. org/directory_ flash.html -

There is a series of graces which God pours into the soul after these trials by fire. The soul enjoys intimate union with God. It has many visions, both corporeal and intellectual. It hears many supernatural words, and sometimes distinct orders.

But despite these graces, it is not self-sufficient. In fact it is even less so as a result of God's graces, because it is now open to many dangers and can easily fall prey to illusions. It ought to ask God for a spiritual director; but not only must it pray for one, it must also make every effort to find a leader who is an expert in these things, just as a military leader must know the ways along which he will lead [his followers] into battle. A soul that is united with God must be prepared for great and hard-fought battles.

After these purifications and tears, God abides in the soul in a special way, but the soul does not always cooperate with these graces. Not that the soul itself is not willing to work, but it encounters so many interior and exterior difficulties that it really takes a miracle to sustain the soul on these summits.

In this, it absolutely needs a director. People have often sown doubt in my soul, and I myself have sometimes become frightened at the thought that I was, after all, an ignorant person and did not have knowledge of many things, above all, spiritual things. But when my doubts increased, I sought light from my confessor or my superiors. Yet I did not obtain what I desired. (121)

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY

These thoughts for a day are taken from a daily meditation book based on the Messages of Our Lady of Medjugorje by Father Richard J. Beyer, Ave Maria Press.

AUGUST 4 - ST. JOHN VIANNEY

The Madonna speaks of prayer today:

When you pray you must feel more. Prayer is a conversation with God. To pray means to listen to God. Prayer is useful for you because after prayer everything is clear. Prayer makes one know happiness. Prayer can teach you how to cry. Prayer can teach you how to blossom. Prayer is not a joke. Prayer is a dialogue with God (First Years October 20, 1984).

And from Paul's first letter to Timothy: I desire, then, that in every place the men should pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or argument (1 Tm 2:8).

Reflection:

St. John Vianney, the Curé of Ars, was born in France in 1789. After ordination to the priesthood, he was appointed pastor of a parish in the town of Ars. He was renowned for his preaching, works of charity, and devout prayer. He died on this date in 1859.

Rather than delineate his thoughts on prayer, let us listen to one of his catechetical instructions:

My little children, reflect on these words: the Christian's treasure is not on earth but in heaven. Our thoughts, then, ought to be directed to where our treasure is. This is the glorious duty of man; to pray and to love. If you pray and love, that is where a man's happiness lies.

Prayer is nothing else but union with God. When one has a heart that is pure and united with God, he is given a kind of serenity and sweetness that makes him ecstatic, a light that surrounds him with marvelous brightness. In this intimate union, God and the soul are fused together like two bits of wax that no one can ever pull apart. This union of God with a tiny creature is a lovely thing. It is a happiness beyond understanding.

How similar are the thoughts of St. John and Our Lady on prayer and thegoodness of God. May their words become a part of our lives.

Application:

Through the intercession of St. John Vianney, ask the Lord today for a deeper spirit of prayer

Medjugorje Day By Day Aug 05- Winnipeg Marian Eucharistic Conference

Aug 5th is Our Lady's birthday
Register today at this conference to honor her!

May she, who in the Year of the Rosary helped us with her look and her heart to contemplate Christ (see `Rosarium
Virginis Mariae,' Nos. 10-17), in the Year of the Eucharist make every community grow in faith and love toward the mystery of the Body and Blood of the Lord" (Pope John Paul II, Corpus Christi, June 2004).

The peaceful soul is the delight and entertainment of God
Please meditate on this just for a few minutes.
If you have children think about the times you have taken delight in them. How often you have watched them and been entertained by what they do. That's because you love them. Even when they weren't as good as they should have been, you still loved them.
Now consider how much God loves you.
Think how much He delights in you!
And YOU are His child!`
"My Son so loves those who assist at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass that, if it were necessary He would die for them as many times as they've heard Masses."
~ Our Lady to her servant Alain - pg. 107,
last paragraph of "Explication Du Saint Sacrifice De La Messe"

Mother Teresa -

Listen in silence, because if your heart is full of other things you cannot hear the voice of God
Meditations by Padre Pio - Never lie down to sleep without first having examined your conscience on the way you have spent the day and without first turning your thoughts to God. Then offer and consecrate your whole person and that of every Christian, especially my wretched self, to God just as I do for you (Letters II p 292).

Archbishop Fulton Sheen -

Wings of aspiration"

"The nation of tomorrow is the youth of today. They are the assurance of progress; the fresh arrows to a better future; the wings of aspiration. Even in war the strength of a nation is not in its bombs, but in the soldiers, who defend it. In peace, it is not economics or politics that save, but good economists and good politicians - to be that, they must be good children. To be that, there must in the first place be the grace of God; in the second place, in the home lessons of love and truth; in the schools, knowledge and self-control. "

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian. org/directory_ flash.html -

Suddenly, when I had consented to the sacrifice with all my heart and all my will, God's presence pervaded me. My soul became immersed in God and was inundated with such happiness that I cannot put in writing even the smallest part of it. I felt that His Majesty was enveloping me. I was extraordinarily fused with God. I saw that God was well pleased with me and, reciprocally, my spirit drowned itself in Him.

Aware of this union with God, I felt I was especially loved and, in turn, I loved with all my soul. A great mystery took place during that adoration, a mystery between the Lord and myself. It seemed to me that I would die of love [at the sight of] His glance. I spoke much with the Lord, without uttering a single word.

And the Lord said to me, You are the delight of My Heart; from today on, every one of your acts, even the very smallest, will be a delight to My eyes, whatever you do. At that moment I felt transconsecrated. My earthly body was the same, but my soul was different; God was now living in it with the totality of His delight. This is not a feeling, but a conscious reality that nothing can obscure. (137)

These thoughts for a day are taken from a daily meditation book based on the Messages of Our Lady of Medjugorje by Father Richard J. Beyer, Ave Maria Press.

(Special Message August 5th, 1985).

Our Lady's happiness calls to mind here joyful words to Elizabeth at the Visitation:

My soul magnifies the Lord,

And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,

For he has looked with favor on the Lowliness of his servant.

Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed;

For the Mighty One has done great things for me,

And holy is his name. Luke 1:47-49

Since today is also the anniversary of the dedication

of St. Mary Major, it is fitting to close with the

Virgin's message on the reverence due to our churches

Dear children, God wants to make you holy. Through me, he is inviting you to complete surrender. Let Holy Mass be your life. Understand that the church is God's palace, the place in which I gather you and want to show you the way to God. Come and pray ! Neither look at others, nor slander them. Rather, let your life be a testimony to holiness. Churches deserve respect and are set apart as holy because God, who became man, dwells in them day and night.

Little children, believe and pray that the Father will increase your faith; then you can ask for whatever you need. I am with you and I am rejoicing because of your conversion. I am protecting you with my motherly mantle (Monthly Message March 25, 1988).

Application:

Today, review your conduct in church. Is it reverent in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament ?

Weak so we can be strong....

Christ in the Blessed Sacrament has made Himself weak
as an example to us who are proud.
Christ is in bonds in the Blessed Sacrament.
He has made Himself a prisoner so that you can come to Him"

Cardinal Newman

And this listening and this speaking is what prayer is meant to be: oneness with God, oneness with Jesus.

Meditations by Padre Pio -

Let us also ask our good Jesus for the humility, trust and faith of our dear saint Clare; let us pray fervently to Jesus like her. Let us abandon ourselves to Him, detach ourselves from this lying world where everything is folly and vanity; everything passes, only God remains to the soul, if it knows how to love Him well (Letters III p 1104).

Archbishop Fulton Sheen -

"Knowledge is in the mind, character is in the will. To pour knowledge into the mind of a child, without disciplining his will to goodness, is like putting a rifle into the hands of a child. Without education of the mind a child could be a stupid devil. With education of the mind, but without love of goodness, a child could grow up to be a clever devil."

Shown as an index of their thoughts and ideals? What caution they would exercise in their selection! And yet the example parents give their children will be that by which they will be judged on the Last Day."

Nurturing with encouragement, not discouragement!

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian. org/directory_ flash.html -

When a soul has come out of these tribulations, it is deeply humble. Its purity of soul is great. It knows better without need of reflecting, as it were, what it ought to do at a given moment and what to forbear. It feels the lightest touch of grace and is very faithful to God. It recognizes God from afar and continuously rejoices in Him.

It discovers God very quickly in other souls and in its environment in general. The soul has been purified by God himself. God, as Pure Spirit, introduces the soul to a life which is purely spiritual.

God himself has first prepared and purified the soul; that is, He has made it capable of close communion with himself. The soul, in a state of loving repose, communes spiritually with the Lord. It speaks to God without the need of expressing itself through the senses. God fills it with His light.

The enlightened mind sees clearly and distinguishes the various degrees of the spiritual life. It recognizes [that state] when its union with God was imperfect: where the senses were involved, and the spirit was linked with the senses in a manner-exalted and special, to be sure-but not yet perfect. There is a higher and more perfect union with God; namely, intellectual union. Here, the soul is safer from illusions; its spirituality is purer and more profound. In a life where the senses are involved, there is more danger of illusion. Both for the soul and for its confessor, prudence must play a greater part. There are moments when God introduces the soul to a purely spiritual state.

The senses dim and are seemingly dead. The soul is most closely united to God; it is immersed in the Deity; its knowledge is complete and perfect, not sporadic as before, but total and absolute. It rejoices in this. But I want to say more about those moments of trial; at those times the confessor must have patience with such a soul. But the soul must have even greater patience with itself. Regarding the miraculous cure of a sick young boy, the Gospa said:

He is suffering from a very grave illness. Let his parents firmly believe, do penance, and then the little boy will be cured (First Years August 30, 1981).

In John's gospel, Christ heals a man who had been ill for 38 years:

When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had been there a long time, he said to him, "Do you want to be made well? "The sick man answered him, "Sir, I have no one to pout me into the pool when the water is stirred up; and while I am making my way, someone else steps down ahead of me. "Jesus said to him, "Stand up, take your mat ant walk. "At once the man was made well, and he took up his mat and began to walk (Jan 5:6-9).

Reflection:

The miracles that Christ performed during his life on earth pointed out the geniuses of his ministry, just as the miracles at Medjugorje speak of its authenticity. In both cases they express the ineffable love of God and deepen the faith of believers.

The cures at Medjugorje include the case of Maria Brumec, who suffered a fractured spine. All medical treatments had failed and she had been told she would be an invalid for the rest of her life. On August 8, 1983, while on pilgrimage to Medjugorje, she was instantly and inexplicably cured.

Damir Coric, who suffered from internal hydrocephaly (water in the skull), had undergone three drainage operations, all of which resulted in cerebral hemorrhages which required even more surgery. With the added complication of extreme weakness and weight loss, his prognosis was very poor. In Medjugorje during the summer of 1981, after being prayed over by Vicka, he was completely healed and rapidly gained weight and strength.

Iva Tole, crippled from multiple sclerosis, had to be carried into St. James Church on September 13, 1981 where she experienced a total cure. Later that same day she climbed the mountain of Krizevac to attend a special Massat the summit.

The miracles of Jesus in the gospels and of Our Lady in Medjugorje inspire in us a wonder and praise of God. Truly they need no other rationale.

Application:

Today, simply offer a prayer of praise and thanksgiving to God for the miracles and wonders of his grace.

“The deliverer will come out of Zion,
he will turn away godlessness from Jacob's;
and this is my covenant with them
when I take away their sins.”

In respect to the gospel, they are enemies on your account; but in respect to election, they are beloved because of the patriarchs. For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable. Romans 11:25–29

It was cloudy yesterday morning but the sun came out in the afternoon and we had a warm and lovely evening. This morning the sun is shining bright and it will be warm today.

I was at the Manor in Alberton yesterday afternoon for Holy Mass and I visited all the sick who are bedridden. This evening I will go to St. Paul’s Church, Summerside, for a Healing Mass at 7:00 p.m. There will be another Healing Mass on the first Friday of the month, August 7, at the little shrine of Our Lady of Prince Edward Island in Palmer Road. I will have a French retreat at the little shrine starting on August 18 at 2:00 p.m. and it will end on August 20. All are welcome.

Here is a message from Our Lord and Savior given to Joseph. Jesus spoke to him in these words,

“The Jewish people are My ancestors as My Mother was Jewish. All My Apostles including St. Paul were of Jewish origin. They are the people of God and so many holy people came from this nation including the prophets and the patriarchs. However, most of them refused to accept Me as the Messiah and Lord.

his was the reason why the early church had to turn to the Gentiles and bring them into My Church. However, before the end of the world, the Jewish nation will become Christian and already a good group of them are Christians today.

You who are non-Jews were privileged to receive the Gospel first and to believe in Me, your Savior. Whole nations have become members of My Church and today many more nations especially inAfrica are becoming Christians.

"I love you"

Dear Friends,

The Presentation in the Temple

When the days were completed for their purification according to the law of Moses, they took Jesus up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord, just as it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that opens the womb shall be consecrated to the Lord, and to offer the sacrifice of a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons, in accordance with the dictate in the law of the Lord. Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was with him.

It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Messiah of the Lord. He came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform the custom of the law in regard to him, he took him into his arms and blessed God, saying:

Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace according to your word, for my eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in sight of all the peoples, a light of revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel.

The child’s father and mother were amazed at what was said about him; and Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted and you yourself a sword shall pierce so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed. Luke 2:22Ă¢€“35

Here is a message received from Our Blessed Mother given to Joseph. She spoke to him in these words,

As it is written in the Bible, Joseph and I took the child Jesus to Jerusalem to present Him to the Father. The holy man Simeon was present and he held the child Jesus in his arms and spoke beautifully about Him. At the end he turned to Me and said that I would suffer terribly as a sword would pierce My heart.

This prophecy was fulfilled at the foot of the cross. I suffered immensely at seeing My Son nailed to the cross in horrible pain and blood flowing from His many wounds. I was present when He addressed Me and told Me that I was the Mother of all the people. A sword did pierce My heart when He died hanging on the cross.

Join Me today, My dear children, at the foot of the cross and see what Jesus suffered because of your sins. Repent of all your sins and let Him come into your heart. I am praying for all of you that Jesus may become first in your life. I love you.Ă¢€

"I bless you"

Dear Friends,

The Gentile’s Salvation

Hence I ask, did the Jews stumble so as to fall? Of course not! But through their transgression salvation has come to the Gentiles, so as to make them jealous. Now if their transgression is enrichment for the world, and if there diminished number is enrichment for the Gentiles, how much more their full number.

Now I am speaking to the Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I glory in my ministry in order to make my race jealous and thus save some of them. For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? If the firstfruits are holy, so is the whole batch of dough; and if the root is holy, so are the branches.

But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, a wild olive shoot, were grafted in their place and have come to share in the rich root of the olive tree, do not boast against the branches.

If you do boast, consider that you do not support the root; the root support you. Indeed you will say, Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in. That is so. They were broken off because of unbelief, but you are there because of faith. So do not become haughty, but stand in awe. Romans 11: 11Ă¢€“20

It is beautiful and sunny this morning and it is cool. We will have a warm day with plenty of sun. I will celebrate Holy Mass this morning at 11:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, Palmer Road. During the night I will have to go to Charlottetown airport to pick up a person coming from France and I will come back after 2:00 a.m. early Monday morning. There will be no message tomorrow but there will be one on Tuesday. On Monday afternoon I will go to the Manor in Alberton to celebrate Holy Mass there with the seniors.

Here is a message from Our Lord and Savior given to Joseph. Jesus spoke to him in these words,

The majority of the people of Israel refused to accept Me as their Messiah and Lord. They condemned Me to death on the cross although I had not done anything wrong. I am your Savior who redeemed you by all My suffering and horrible death. I never committed even one sin while I was in the world but I was rejected and killed.

With the rejection of the Jews, it was the Gentiles, the non-Jews, who believed in Me and entered My Kingdom. Today a very large portion of the people of the world are My followers and many of them are very close to Me. Be thankful that I gave you the graces you needed to come to know Me, believe in Me and to follow Me.

Do not boast that you are better than the Jews but thank the Father that you have received much from the Jewish people, such as the Old Testament, the Ten Commandments and all the first leaders of My Church. I bless you and call you to remain always close to Me.

Message from Our Blessed Mother to Carlos Lopez

July 22, 2009 St. Bruno’s Church, San Bruno, CA

Dear little children,

Thank you for having accepted my invitation of this night. I come to give you my maternal blessing.

You say that you love me, but you still do not know me. You say that you love me, but you do not pray. You say that you love me, but you reject me. You say that you love me, but you do not listen to me. You say that you love me, but you do not trust in me. You say that you love me, but many do not take seriously my plea to conversion and to holiness.

My unbelieving and stubborn children, when will you attend to the call of your Mother? You ask but you do not know how, because you do not listen to me. My little ones, how happy you would be if only you would learn how to listen to me. You would not suffer if only you would learn to obey my call to prayer.

Many look for peace in the world. How can you believe that the world can give you peace, if the world lives in darkness? You look for that peace in the wrong place because the world belongs to the prince of lies. If you look for peace in the world, you belong to the world.

Those who look for peace in God, belong to God and the world does not belong to them even if they live in the world; they do not belong to the world because they reject the things of the world and they look for the things of God. The things of the world and its distractions are temporary, but the things of God are eternal. Look for eternity and happiness in Jesus. Jesus is peace, the true peace. In Him you are safe. In Him you are secure. In Him you will be happy forever.

Pray, pray, pray and comply with my call of this night.

Thank you for having accepted my message of this night. May the blessing of Almighty God be with all of you and in a special way with my beloved priests and deacon who helped me this night.

In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Medjugorge mesages

Message to Mirjana - August 2, 2009
Thousands of people were present near the Blue Cross, at the base of Apparition Hill, for the monthly apparition to visionary Mirjana Soldo. After the apparition, Mirjana relayed the following message from Our Lady:

"Dear children, I am coming, with my motherly love, to point out the way by which you are to set out, in order that you may be all the more like my Son; and by that, closer to and more pleasing to God. Do not refuse my love. Do not renounce salvation and eternal life for the sake of the transience and frivolity of this life. I am among you to lead you and, as a mother, to caution you. Come with me."

Mirjana reported that Our Lady appeared with the sun shining behind her during the entire apparition. At the same time, thousands of onlookers also reported seeing what is commonly called the miracle of the sun, where a person can look directly at the sun without any discomfort.

Medjugorje Day By Day Aug 04 - ST. JOHN VIANNEY

SUNDAY, AUGUST 5TH 1984

In anticipation of this day the Gospa had said:
The priest who will hear confession will have great joy on that day.

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html -
There is a series of graces which God pours into the soul after these trials by fire.

John and Our Lady on prayer and the goodness of God. May their words become a part of our lives.

Application:

Through the intercession of St. John Vianney, ask the Lord today for a deeper spirit of prayer

Weak so we can be strong....

Christ in the Blessed Sacrament has made Himself weak
as an example to us who are proud.
Christ is in bonds in the Blessed Sacrament.
He has made Himself a prisoner so that you can come to Him"

Cardinal Newman

Mother Teresa -
And this listening and this speaking is what prayer is meant to be: oneness with God, oneness with Jesus.

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html -

"Come to that pure, sweet source of the Precious Blood whence flow peace, generosity and divine charity" (Mother Catherine Aurelia, Foundress of the Sisters of the Precious Blood).

Mother Teresa -
God speaks in the silence of the heart, and we listen. And then we speak to God from the fullness of our heart, and God listens.

Meditations by Padre Pio -
Furthermore I tell you to love your abjection, and loving your abjection consists precisely in this: If you are humble, tranquil, sweet and confident in times of darkness and impotence; that is, if you do not become restless, upset and anxious because of all of this, but are cheerful (I don't say joyful, but that you frankly and constantly embrace these crosses, and remain in this darkness) then you will love your abjection. Because what does abjection mean if not to be humble and powerless? (Letters III p569-570).

Archbishop Fulton Sheen -
We must treasure our parental duty
"What if God placed a precious diamond in the hands of parents and told them to inscribe on it a sentence which would be read on the Last Day, and Where there's a will, there's a way to educate goodness!

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html -

Good night, my Jesus; the bell is calling me to sleep. My Jesus, You see that I am dying from the desire to save souls. Good night, my Beloved; I rejoice at being one day closer to eternity. And if You let me wake up tomorrow, Jesus, I shall begin a new hymn to Your praise. (679)

Jesus, You know that I love suffering and want to drain the cup of suffering to the last drop; and yet, my nature experienced a slight shudder and fear. Quickly, however, my trust in the infinite mercy of God was awakened in all its force, and everything else had to give way before it, like a shadow retreating before the sun's rays.

O Jesus, how great is Your goodness! Your infinite goodness, so well known to me, enables me to bravely look death itself in the eye. I know that nothing will happen to me without God's permission. I desire to glorify Your infinite mercy during my life, at the hour of death, in the resurrection and throughout eternity.

My Jesus, my strength, my peace, my repose; my soul bathes daily in the rays of Your mercy. There is not a moment in my life when I do not experience Your mercy, O God. I could do nothing in my whole life, but only on Your infinite mercy. It is the guiding thread of my life, O Lord. My soul is filled with God's mercy. (697)

AUGUST 2 - SIN HAS GAINED GROUND

In her weekly message for September, 1984, the Gospa said:

Dear children, I continually need your prayers. You wonder why all these prayers? Look around you, Dear children, an you will see how much ground sin has gained in this world. Pray, therefore, that Jesus conquers (Weekly Message September 13, 1984).

But although sin abounds, forgiveness abounds all the more, as the psalmists sings:
Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul. For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call on you. Psalm 86:4-5

Reflection:

In Jesus' day, the rabbis taught that Jews should forgive those who offended them three times. Peter, in trying to be especially generous, asked Christ if seven ( the "perfect" number) was enough times to forgive someone. But Jesus answered, "Seventy times seven" meaning that we should not even keep track of the number of times.

Realizing how completely Christ has forgiven us produces a fee and generous attitude of forgiveness toward others. When we refuse to forgive, we set ourselves outside and above Christ's law of love.

Application:

Today, reflect on these words of George Hebert: "He who cannot forgive others breaks the bridge over which he must pass himself."

On the first of every month, Our Lord gives Anne a new message about His call to service.

August 1, 2009

Jesus

Dearest apostles, I thank you for your efforts for Me. Do you see the fruit of your labours? Perhaps not. Perhaps you continue serving, living out your commitments with no understanding of how I bless the world through your service. I hear your sighs. I am with you in your uncertainty. In humanity, there is always uncertainty. In humanity, there is always doubt.

There also comes fear and each human will experience heaviness in his heart some day. None of these things should persuade you that you are serving in vain. None of these things should distract you from a zealous representation of the gospel message. You see, the message is so much bigger than each of you. And yet, each of you is necessary.

The gospel truth pushes itself into a world that craves truth, even while it rejects truth. You, beloved apostle, are part of that push. You will feel the strain in your body and soul. You will feel the sacrifice. If you did not feel any such strain or sacrifice, there would be cause for concern because living and spreading the gospel is work.

When you feel tired, remember that I also felt tired. Never separate your sufferings from My sufferings and you will be at peace, even as you carry your share of the cross for this time. I am with you, loving and sustaining you. I am ever watchful. When you need Me in a special way, you shall have Me, with every grace required. Do not be afraid of anything. Your Jesus will never abandon you.

SHORT POWERFUL PRAYER THROUGH ST. JOSEPH

"Glorious St. Joseph, tenderhearted father, faithful
guardian of Jesus, chaste spouse of the Mother of
God, I ask you to join me in praising God the Father
through His Divine Son who died on the cross and
rose again to give us sinners new life. Through the
Holy Name of Jesus, pray with me that we may obtain
from the eternal Father the favor we ask. (here
state your intention)."

Say this prayer for nine consecutive days.

Fear not! God is your shelter (the 23rd Psalm and the Lord’s Prayer. God never fails). Don’t fail him. Call on Jesus. Jesus on the mainline, tell him what you want!
