Holy Mary, Mother of God, Protectress of Africa, you have given to the world the true Light, Jesus Christ. Through your obedience to the Father and the grace of the Holy Spirit, you have given us the source of our reconciliation and our justice, Jesus Christ, our peace and our joy.

Mother of Tenderness and Wisdom, show us Jesus, your Son and the Son of God. Guide our path of conversion, so that Jesus might shine his glory on us in every aspect of our personal, familial and social lives.

Ammon, the Great, Hermit, I am a monk of the desert. Robbers periodically stole my meager rations of bread. After a while, I tired of it, and ordered two huge serpents to guard my food and cell. When the robbers saw this, they became paralyzed. I cured them, explaining the goodness of God. They repented, and became even more virtuous, presenting in the glory of God signs and wonders.

Another large serpent continually molested and killed nearby villagers. They bade my assistance. In God’s mercy, I prayed before the serpents abode, it rushed me, and burst.
Ammon, (according to Athanasius) became a Christian and a monk. Then a bishop several years more’ after March 15, 351 A.D. six years after Pachomius died. Among the holy flk.

"The Spirit brings peace"

Dear Friends,

The Flesh and the Spirit

Hence, now there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has freed you from the law of sin and death. For what the law, weakened by the flesh, was powerless to do, this God has done: by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for the sake of sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, so that the righteous decree of the law might be fulfilled in us, who live not according to the flesh but according to the spirit.

For those who live according to the flesh are concerned with the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the spirit with the things of the spirit. The concern of the flesh is death, but the concern of the spirit is life and peace.

For the concern of the flesh is hostility toward God; it does not submit to the law of God, nor can it; and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are not in the flesh; on the contrary, you are in the spirit, if only the Spirit of God dwells in you. Whoever does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the spirit is alive because of righteousness. Romans 8:1-10

Here is a message from Our Lord and Savior given to Joseph. Jesus spoke to him in these words,

In the heart of every person there is a war taking place. It is the flesh fighting against the spirit. If you give in to the flesh, it will lead you to sin. For the flesh because of original sin wants to lead you away from Me. For example, it will lead you to drink and get drunk or to drugs and be addicted. All addictions are of the flesh. So the spirit through the graces I give you must keep the flesh under control.

The Spirit brings peace, life, joy, freedom and an openness to the things of God. Live in My Spirit and you will be close to Me and I will come and live in your heart. Be dead to the flesh and alive in the spirit. All those who believe in Me strive to live by the spirit and not by the flesh.

You cannot live in the spirit unless you cooperate with all the graces I give you. Open your heart to Me in prayer and I will pour My power and strength into you through the graces I have for you. There is much suffering today because so many have abandoned Me for the things of the flesh. Come back and I will help you.

Lovely one I come to you today for the land will see much destruction coming. This I cannot stop for your government is not for you, the people, but only for themselves and greed.

Be very careful what you do and say in the coming future. Use great wisdom in your words. My Blessed Mary, angels and the saints are working to prepare the children and keep their hearts on Me in all things they do. The darkening of the sky and the sign will come first. You will not miss it; no one will across the world.

Take heed in all you do and bring in My lost children. Offer up your suffering for these, My children, in everything you do. We can never have too many. Go to adoration with My Son, Jesus, and listen to Him as your instructions are given to you. Go as often as you can.

Be Holy as I Am Holy, children of the Most High.

HOW HAPPY I AM THAT YOU COME HERE TO THIS PLACE OF GRACE. YOU GATHER TO PRAY WITH THIS MOTHER AND MY LOVES, I OPEN MY HEART TO YOU. YOU ARE MY CHILDREN AND I SHALL CARE FOR YOU IN A MOST SPECIAL WAY.

LITTLE ONES, THE WORLD CONTINUES ON THE COURSE THAT WAS CHOSEN BY EVIL MEN. GOD DID NOT PLAN FOR YOU THIS COURSE, BUT RATHER WANTED ALL TO BE IN HIS WAY - HIS WILL. BUT GOD PROVIDES EVEN IN THE WORST OF TIMES. TRUST IN HIS LOVE AND MERCY IS REQUIRED AND A TRUE LOVE FOR HIM HE DESIRES.

SO MUCH HAS BEEN DONE FOR MAN TO RETURN TO PRAYER AND TO FORFEIT EVIL. YET THERE ARE FEW WHO LOVE HIM AND DESIRE HIM. YOU HAVE SATISFIED HIM AND HE HOLDS YOU IN HIS FAVOR.

LISTEN MY CHILDREN, DO YOU HEAR. TAKE MY WORDS INTO YOUR HEARTS AND LET THEM CREATE IN YOU A NEW HOPE. WHAT SURROUNDS YOU CAUSES YOU CONCERN AND ANXIETY YET YOU ARE ALSO SURROUNDED BY THE ANGELS AND SAINTS AND SO YOU NEED ONLY ASK FOR THE GRACE YOU NEED TO TAKE IN ONLY THAT WHICH COMES FROM GOD AND BE GRATEFUL.

My child, you are My student and I am your Teacher. There are some who allow the world to be their instructor and others follow Me with great faith, devotion and total trust in My mercy. There are some who because they do not live in the truth live a life full of justice and then receive mercy. There are those who live a life of mercy and then receive justice.

Always pray for a soul to be open to My mercy. Each time a soul receives mercy I surrender Myself to it for it is immersed in great misery. The soul then in turn comes to the great fountain of love for I am Jesus, I am mercy itself

When mankind eats My Body and drinks My Blood he then has life within him. It is the ultimate gift that mankind can offer My Father in heaven which is His Son for I am Jesus. Each time a Mass is said it is an offering of the Son to the Father. Mankind is returning Me to My Father in praise and thanksgiving for the Father’s gift to humanity.

That is why I say to My children, attend Mass often for it is there that you are presenting My Father the greatest gift and He offers you eternal life with Him. How My heart weeps, My child, at so few Masses being said for so many thirst, so many hunger. Tell My children to come and receive Me as often as they can for it is there that I present those who come with the fullness of the Trinity. The Mass is the greatest prayer offered to My Father for I am Jesus.

My child, as your Teacher I desire to teach you the way to holiness. My daughter, when a soul comes to Mass it is anxious; it is starving. It is in misery because it longs to be one with Me. Divine Mercy, My child, is the soul receiving the reception of the Trinity. It is only through the gift of My Father that the world receives Divine Mercy.

The Mass is the living word, living flesh from which I come and am presented to My Father to bring glory and honor in thanksgiving for His love of His Son for I am Jesus.

My child, there is great importance in praying for a soul to be open to My mercy. When you pray you are then opening your heart and soul to the stages of My Passion. You are uniting your heart and soul to My Crucifixion.

You must begin to see the Trinity in all things. You must begin to see your Savior in the face of your neighbor. You must pray for all souls to receive mercy because when you fail to do so out of anger and hatred you are disregarding My suffering. I did not suffer for one, rather I suffered for all.

Each and every soul is capable of receiving My mercy. It is only the soul that keeps itself from receiving it. Pray for souls My child, for the more you pray for others you are elevating yourself. You unite yourself to My Passion, Death and Resurrection for I am Jesus, I am mercy itself.

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY

AUGUST 1 - ST. ALPHONSUS LIGUORI

Today Our Lady gives us words of hope and consolation

Dear children, these days you have been experiencing how Satan is working. But do not be afraid of temptations, for I am always with you and God always watches over us. I have also given myself to you and sympathize even in your smallest temptation (Weekly Message July 19, 1984).

The letter of James gives us further encouragement:

Blessed is anyone who endures temptation. Such a one has stood the test and will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him (Jas 1:12).

Reflection:

In one of the prayers he composed, St. Alphonsus wrote, "My Lady, since you are so powerful with God, obtain for me the strength to overcome all temptations, until death." The founder of the Redemptorists had a deep aversion to temptation and sin, and was himself the author of many books on moral theology. He is the author of this little-known prayer to the Virgin Mary:

Most holy Virgin Immaculate, my Mother Mary, to you who are the Mother of my Lord, the Queen of the Universe, the advocate, the hope, the refuge of sinners; I, who am the most miserable of sinners, have recourse to you today.

I venerate you, great queen, and I thank you for the many graces you have obtained for me. I love you, most dear Lady, and because of this I promise to serve you willingly and to do what I can to make you loved by others.

Since you are so powerful with God, obtain for me the strength to overcome all temptations, until death. Help me have a true love for you Son, Jesus Christ. Assist me always, but especially at the last moment of my life. Forsake me not then until you see me safely in heaven. Such is my hope. Amen.

Application:

Perhaps the best gift you could give to St. Alphonsus on his feast day is to offer this prayer to the Virgin once more today, perhaps at the end of rosary.

Medjugorje Day BY Day July 31 - ST. IGNATIUS OF LOYOLA

"Now when we have received our Lord [in the Blessed Sacrament] and have him in our body, let us not then let him alone and get us forth about other things . . . but let all our business be about him. Let us by devout prayer talk to him, by devout meditation talk with him" (St. Thomas More).

The mission of proclaiming Christ, through action or through words, is one mission, the mission of love and compassion.

JULY 31 - ST. IGNATIUS OF LOYOLA

On the anniversary of the apparitions in 1990, Our Lady gave the following message :

Dear children, today I want to thank you for all your

sacrifices and prayers. I give you my special motherly blessing.

I call you to decide for God and through prayer discover his will for you day by day. I call all of you to full conversion, dear children, so that you may know joy in your hearts (Monthly Message June 25,1990).

Christ also speaks of conversion, of being born again from above :

Very truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. What is born of flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be astonished that I said to you, "You must be born from above" (Jn 3 :5-7).

Reflection :

St. Ignatius of Loyola underwent a remarkable conversion to God through the written word. Born in 1491, he spent his early years at the Spanish court and as a soldier. While recuperating form injuries received in battle, he asked for books to read on his favorite subject : tales of knight-errantry. But no books of that sort could be found, and so he was given instead a life of Christ and a collection of the lives of the saints.

By constantly reading these books he began to be attracted to what he found narrated there. He began to ask such questions as, "What if I should do what St. Francis or St. Dominic did ?" Finding that these reflections gave him a special joy, he resolved to dedicate his life to the Lord he had come to know so well in his borrowed books.

Clearly the grace of God can work through any medium to effect conversion. For St. Francis it was nature; for St. Martin de Porres it was the poor. Grace requires only, as Our Lady as Our Lady has often said in Medjugorje, an open heart.

Application:

Today, pray that the process of conversion may continue in your life as your heart is kept open to God.

Medjugorje Day By Day July 30 - FOLLOW THE SHEPHERD

The womb of Our Immaculate Mother Mary is "wholly untouched, not dug nor sown, from heaven's dew alone, it brings forth a Savior, and provides mortal men with the Bread of angels and the food of eternal life" (St. Irenaeus).

Mother Teresa -
He could know all possible knowledge, and all of theology and all the things about God, but we would not be able to light a fire in the hearts of the people. We could just be uttering words, not living those words. That is why it is necessary for us that our words be the fruit of our life, the fruit of our prayers. "

In order to attract us the Lord gives us many graces and we imagine we are almost in Heaven. We do not know, however, that to grow we need hard bread, crosses, humiliations, trials and contradictions (FSP 86).

"Passion is not a reflex like the watering of a dog's mouth in the presence of food. It is true that there are many similarities between passion in animals and passion in man, but it must never be forgotten that in man, passion cannot operate unless something is known."

The Lord Himself moves me to write prayers and hymns about His mercy, and these hymns of praise force themselves upon His mercy, and these hymns of praise force themselves upon my lips. I have noticed that ready-formulated words of praise of God's mercy enter my mind, and so I have resolved to write them down in so far as is within my power, I can feel God urging me to do so. July 30 - FOLLOW THE SHEPHERD

Mary asks us not to fear, but to follow the Good Shepherd:

Dear children, sometimes you oppress your hearts with certain matters, but this is not necessary. Sometimes you are frightened by this or that, but again, why do you need that? Who is with Jesus need not fear. Do not worry or be anxious about what will happen tomorrow or a few years from now. Abandon yourselves to Jesus, for only that way can you be the faithful sheep that follow their Shepherd (Locutionists Jelena & Mirjana March 1, 1987).

And in John's gospel, Jesus also speaks of the Good Shepherd:

I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father. And I lay down my life for the sheep (Jn 10: 14-15).

Reflection:

At night, sheep in ancient Israel were gathered into a sheepfold to protect them from thieves, weather, or wild animals. The sheepfolds were caves, sheds, or open areas surrounded by low walls made of stones or branches. The shepherd slept in the fold to protect the sheep, often at the entrance. Wild animals could not get in, nor the sheep get out, without alerting him. He was, literally, the "sheepgate."

» Jesus' listeners were aware of the shepherd's role and his dedication in protecting his flock. In speaking of himself as the Good Shepherd, Christ also evoked the comforting images of Psalm 23, which he and his followers may well have known by heart.

Application:

The following is a poetic version on the 23rd Psalm. Pray it « with the heart, » as Our Lady asks, that is may calm any anxiety:

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures;

he leadeth me beside the still waters;

he restoreth me in the paths of righteousness

for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley

of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil,

for thou art with me;

thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me

in the presence of my enemies;

thou anointest my head with oil;

my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

all the days of my life,

and I will dwell in the house of the Lord

for years without end (King James Version).

SHORT POWERFUL PRAYER THROUGH ST. JOSEPH

"Glorious St. Joseph, tenderhearted father, faithful
guardian of Jesus, chaste spouse of the Mother of
God, I ask you to join me in praising God the Father
through His Divine Son who died on the cross and
rose again to give us sinners new life. Through the
Holy Name of Jesus, pray with me that we may obtain
from the eternal Father the favor we ask. (here
state your intention)."

Say this prayer for nine consecutive days.

Fear not! God is your shelter (the 23rd Psalm and the Lord’s Prayer. God never fails). Don’t fail him. Call on Jesus. Jesus on the mainline, tell him what you want!
