Dear Friends,

Jesus said, “When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, who love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on street corners so that others may see them.

Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you.

In praying, do not babble like the pagans, who think that they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them. Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” Matthew 6:5–8

Our Lord addressed another message to Joseph. Jesus spoke to him in these words, “What is prayer? Prayer is the elevation of your heart and mind to God. It builds up a close relationship with the Father, with Me through the power of the Holy Spirit. You cannot pray if you do not have the Holy Spirit.

I love the heart to heart prayer, which is the ideal way to pray. You are simply there with Me and you are completely concentrated on Me. Go, be alone in your room and spend time with Me in this lovely prayer. Your relationship with Me will grow and your love will grow every day.

Do not be like the hypocrites who like to stand in the church or on the street corner and pray aloud so that everybody can hear them. When you pray, go to the room and shut the door and there in secret you can pray and your Heavenly Father will reward you.

You can also come to visit Me in the tabernacle of your church and spend time in adoration, showing your love to Me. Such a prayer is highly favoured by Me.

You cannot be a Christian if you do not pray. When I was on earth I spent time with My Heavenly Father every day. Sometimes I would spend the whole night in prayer with Him; this time was the most important time of My day.

Come and spend time with Me in prayer, especially in contemplative prayer, and your love for Me will grow every day. I love a prayerful heart.”

JNSR: Do you not understand that if God wanted to remove my femininity (momentarily) , so that I might command (firmly), those who take an interest in His Work, and if on the other hand, He wishes to take away your manly superiority, it is so that, finally you listen to a woman whom GOD has chosen to build up His Work, in all the spirits who will listen, when the Holy Spirit dwells in her.

It is also for you, as well as for me, as it is for all men and women living today, that GOD will build His Kingdom of glory, where there will be no more sexuality. We will be like the Angels of the Lord, like all the inhabitants of Heaven and of the New Earth.

Only one Earth - Only one Heaven - Only one Native Land:

That of GOD.

The Kingdom of GOD in one only Earth, one only Heaven,

United in GOD.

The elect of GOD will be the ones called by GOD. They will come to GOD - at the call of GOD in their heart and they will enter in GOD without any effort, except that of their will in Mine, says JESUS. Like this alarm clock that you noticed its disappearance one night, and its reappearance in the middle of the next day.

I am coming to bring you, soon. And it is not death.

Once, the confessor told me to pray for his intention, and I began a novena to the Mother of God. This novena consisted in the prayer, "Hail, Holy Queen," recited nine times. Toward the end of the novena I saw the Mother of God with the Infant Jesus in Her arms, and I also saw my confessor kneeling at her feet and talking with her.

I did not understand what he was saying to her, because I was busy talking with the Infant Jesus, who came down from His Mother's arms and approached me. I could not stop wondering at His beauty.

I heard a few of the words that the Mother of God spoke to him [i.e., my confessor] but not everything. The words were: I am not only the Queen of Heaven, but also the Mother of Mercy and your Mother. And at that moment she stretched out her right hand, in which she was clasping her mantle, and she covered the priest with it. At that moment, the vision vanished. (330)

Jan 27 - LET PRAYER ILLUMINATE YOUR LIFE

The Blessed Mother speaks of her favorite subject today:

"Dear children, today I call you to prayer. By means of prayer, little children, you will find joy and peace. Through prayer you will be richer in the mercy of God. Therefore, little children, let prayer illuminate your entire life.

Especially, I call you to pray that those who are far from God may be converted. Then our own hearts will be richer because God will reign in the hearts of all. And so, little children, pray, pray, pray! Let prayer reign throughout the whole world. (Monthly Message August 25, 1989)

In this passage from Matthew's gospel, Jesus bears out the importance of prayer, and also its great power:

In the morning, when he returned to the city, he was hungry. And seeing a fig tree by the side of the road, he went to it and found nothing at all on it but leaves. Then he said, to it, "May no fruit ever come from you again!" And the fig tree withered at once.

When the disciples saw it, they were amazed, saying, "How did the fig tree wither at once?" Jesus answered them, "Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, `Be lifted up and thrown into the sea', it will be done. Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive." (Mt 21:18-22)

Reflection:

Prayer is by far the most common subject of Our Lady's messages in Medjugorje, as well as a primary teaching of Christ in the gospels. It is the root of joy and peace, as Mary reminds us today, and its power is unbounded, as Jesus teaches his disciples in the gospel. Of prayer with the heart, John Bunyan wrote, "When thou prayest, rather let thy heart be without words, than thy words without heart."

So much has been written about prayer that for now we might simply underline the words of Mary's message today: prayer begets true joy and peace. This is the peace the world cannot give; this is the joy that abides deep within the heart.

There is no other way to obtain these gifts, not money, cars, homes, nor any of the world's allurements. There is only one way, a very simple way: our hearts opened to God in quiet prayer, in quiet communion with the divine Lord.

Application:
Give your fears and anxieties over to Our Lady today in prayer. Remain with her until you feel at peace.

Who has conquered the majority of the children of GOD?

The Lord has spoken: I want to be adored, said the Unique and True GOD of Earth and Heaven: "I want to be adored in Spirit and in Truth. For GOD the Father (can only be reached and adored in Spirit). And today, it is still only in Spirit that we can meet the SON as well as the HOLY SPIRIT".

JNSR: The three Persons of the Most Holy Trinity whom we adore in ONE only GOD, are still invisible to us, as the final act of Our History of Humanity on a planetary scale is being played.

Here below, we cannot see the battle going on in GOD's Heaven or rather between Heaven and Earth. Nothing can be seen thus far. But we see another course of action, similar to the one unfolding before our eyes.

In the freedom that GOD gives us, this dark character, the Evil spirit, Satan, is equally active. And the treacherous acolyte that has acted on Earth, in his name, is equally a spirit that has the NAME of Antichrist or AntiChrist, which in truth is named "the spirit of money that has conquered the World."

If GOD allows us to discover Him, it is that this spirit of Evil, GOD is coming to eradicate it, for its end is near. It will soon die, this acolyte of Satan.

Everything is being spiritually carried out in Heaven as well as on Earth. But GOD wishes us to see for ourselves its defeat, for by recognizing it, it becomes a visible Enemy with many faces, having all the possible thrones on this Earth, for its Central-THRONE exists, and the THRONES (branches) multiply on Earth.

Those are the Banks, fed by the satanic fruit of the Union of EVIL (Satan) with the Spirit of Power and of Money, the enemy of GOD (the Antichrist), that has made of all the Earth, the prostitute of Babylon of which St. John speaks.

But the whole Earth is under the domination of the Spirit of Money. It has become the great prostitute, the Babylon that will try to survive but will finally fall.

All the Nations and the kings of the Earth have committed fornication with her, and every merchant on Earth has grown rich through the frantic luxury (Rev. 18 - 3), for her sins have reached up to Heaven, and GOD has remembered her iniquities (Rev. 18 - 5).

(Rev. 18 - 8) For that, within a single day, the plagues will fall on her: pestilence, grief and famines. She will be consumed by fire. The Lord GOD has condemned her, and He has great power.

The Lord has already condemned the Earth to its utter destruction, in order to give us a New Earth and New Heavens.

GOD will finally sacrifice this Earth and ALL her sins, but before, as it has already been announced, we will know the plagues, the last plagues sent by GOD to this Earth, that has chosen money with all its power, and all that money that has brought about every possible vice, for with it and for it, false glories have followed one another, as well as wars, killings and abuses of all sorts in every society, as well as the triumph of wealth over the poor.

Human absurdity translated into possession, at the expense of the strangulation of the weakest, has exhausted GOD's patience, who just said "Enough", and that loud cry in the night of world infamy , where all peoples have started to adore money to the point of ignoring GOD, and the poor children of GOD who have not even a root to eat, from their Land, that has sadly become unrecognizable, as it has also been devoured by money, that money that has made miracles greater than those performed by GOD, in order to equal or go beyond GOD, has put everything in its power to outdo GOD.

That money even took over artificial Life as far as manufacturing Life from one molecule. Biology has evolved, but steadily in opposition to GOD, and that is where the "miracle" of assisted procreation is found: the "miracle" of the birth of a child deprived of a father or mother.......

So many "miracles" accomplished by that money that, by the breath of GOD, will vanish. So many towers and town castles will disappear, for Everything was built with the miracle of money, and for those who grew wealthy with it, forgetting the very poor.

And behold, GOD says to us: "I will create a New Earth with New Heavens. Amen."

Dear Friends,

Jesus said, Take care not to perform righteous deeds in order that people may see them, otherwise, you will have no recompense from your heavenly Father. When you give, do not blow a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets to win the praise of others.

Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right is doing, so that your almsgiving may be secret. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you. Matthew 6:1 4

Here is another message of Our Lord and Savior addressed to Joseph. Jesus spoke to him in these words, I told you, and it is written in the Bible, that the poor you will always have with you. Remember that the poor are your sisters and brothers. They are suffering because they do not have the necessities of life. Some have nothing to eat, others have no place to live and others do not have much to wear. Others are sick and they cannot work and they need your help. You cannot ignore the poor for I have identified Myself with every poor person. When you give to a poor person, it is the same as if you gave to Me.

Some poor people might need money to send their children to school. Others need money to be close to their sick children in hospital especially if the hospital is far away. So this is why I call you all to be generous in almsgiving. Give out of love for Me and for your brothers and sisters in need. All those who give with faith will be rewarded abundantly by the Father.

You must not be like the Pharisees and the hypocrites who would ring a bell or blow a trumpet in the synagogue or at a street corner to win the praise of the crowd. Such people have received their reward already. Give your donation in secret and the Father who sees in secret will repay you.

Almsgiving is one of the duties of all Christians for I gave you this commandment: Love one another as I have loved you. If you love the poor, you will react appropriately when you see their needs. You will be ready to give them a helping hand and even some money they need. In this way you will imitate Me who had compassion on the poor.

Medjugorje Day By Day Jan 26 - MAKE A COMMITMENT

"The Rosary is the book of the blind, where souls see and there enact the greatest drama of love the world has ever known; it is the book of the simple which initiates them into mysteries and knowledge more satisfying than the education of other men; it is the book of the aged, whose eyes close upon the shadow of the world and open on the substance of the next."

"God's Bread comes down from Heaven and gives life to the world" (Jn 6:33).
"The Church implores this divine Gift, the source of every other gift" (Art 17). Share about the True Presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist with children, teens, college and adult students by using appropriate means and materials in classes and inviting them to weekly Adoration.

When I approached the confessional and started my confession, the priest interrupted me and started telling me about the great mercy of God, and he spoke more forcefully about it than I had ever heard anyone speak before.

Although I did not reveal anything of the divine life that is in my soul and only accused myself of my offenses, the priest himself told me very much of what was in my soul and put me under obligation to be faithful to the inspirations of God. Jan 26 - MAKE A COMMITMENT

Today Our Lady asks for our commitment so that her plans in Medjugorje will succeed:

Dear children, I would like this to be a time of decision for you. Make a commitment to follow me, follow me! I wish to do so much, but I cannot do anything without you; your resolve is too weak.

So pray during this time, dear children. Only through prayer can you receive the strength of commitment that you need. I am here to help you, my children (Visionary Prayer Group August 19, 1988).

In Mark's gospel, Jesus also asks for a decision:

As Jesus passed along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the sea for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them, "Follow me and I will make you fish for people." And immediately they left their nets and followed him (Mk 1 :16-18).

Reflection:

Discipleship, or commitment, is foundational to our Christian faith; both Mary in her messages and Jesus in the gospels, speak of the necessity of deciding completely for God.

And this decision, which we are asked to renew periodically in prayer, surfaces naturally from the grace of God in our hearts. "Happy are they", writes Dietrich Bonhoeffer, "who know that discipleship simply means the life that springs from grace, and that grace simply means discipleship."

Application:

In prayer today, ask Christ and the Blessed Mother to strengthen your commitment if following them with enthusiasm and courage.

Jan 25 - THE CONVERSION OF ST. PAUL

Speaking of conversion, the Blessed Mother said:

"Dear children, today I call you again to complete conversion, which is difficult for those who have not chosen God. I am inviting you, dear children, to convert fully to God.

God can give you everything that you seek from him. But you seek only when sicknesses, problems, and difficulties come to you, and you think that God is far from you and is not listening and does not hear your prayers.

No, dear children, that is not the truth. When you are far from God, you cannot receive graces, because you do not seek them with a firm faith. Day by day, I am praying for you, and I want to draw you ever more near to God. I cannot, if you do not desire it. Therefore, dear children, put your life in God's hands. I bless you all. (Monthly Messages Jan 25, 1988)

From the Acts of the Apostles, the story of Paul's conversion:

Now as he was going along and approaching Damascus, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?" He asked, "Who are you, Lord?" The reply came, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. But get up and enter the city, and you will be told what you are to do."

The men who were travelling with him stood speechless because they heard the voice but saw no one. Saul got up from the ground, and though his eyes were open, he could see nothing; so they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus. (Acts 9:4-8)

Reflection:

Conversion can be spectacular and instantaneous, like St. Paul's, or a gradual coming to faith, which may be the most common experience. Both are gifts of grace bestowed by a loving God on all who have opened their hearts to him. But it is important to realize that our subsequent spiritual journey is itself a lifelong conversion process through which we draw closer to God.

Conversion is not easy. Friends and family members may resist the changes they see in us, for they are unfamiliar. They may send out messages or signals, some given subconsciously, for us to "change back" to our old selves.

We should resist such pressures, confident in the help of our Mother. The essential thing is to nourish this process by an abiding openness to God's grace, like living plants open to the sunshine, and by living Our Lady's messages with conviction.

JNSR: Dearest friends of the Work of Our Lord JESUS-Christ: Witnesses of the CROSS -

May anyone receiving this letter be enlightened on his or her own journey through this.

The Lord has chosen His Work "Witnesses of the CROSS" along with the NAME that He gave it, the same way He chose, one by one, the workers who would be involved in the building of His Work.

All the work done is totally "to the glory of the Lord".

There was the whole distribution of the books. Thanks to the generosity of the writers, translators, Editors, these were distributed in many countries, in many languages.

Thanks to the workers of the CROSSES, elevated by the thousands in the world, our distant brothers have witnessed the radiance of Divine Love, among all the children - of the Father of all Goodness - who comes to reunite all men of every confession of faith, in order to accomplish, through His Holy CROSS, the Unity of this great Gathering around His Divine SON - JESUS-Christ.

The books, like the CROSSES, share the same voice that comes to inform you through the same word that GOD gives. JESUS says to us:

JESUS: Tell the World - wherever you are from - wherever you are - wherever you are - that it is getting late. The World has arrived at the boundary chosen by GOD, to give you the warning that "the chasm is totally OPEN".

Do not rush headlong......any more. Stop and listen to ME. It is in your power to save all your brothers and yourselves by informing them, that the Evil One is using, for the final part that he still has to play, the most infectious path to trip you, and make you fall with him, in that pit, from where no one ever emerges (Hell).

He teamed up with the great enemy of GOD (money), which took away so many of His children. The Evil One is active around the globe - playing his last card against GOD. He seeks the loss of all Humanity. That is his final contract.

JESUS-Christ is shouting His last CALL to you against Evil. It is GOD's S.O.S., as He does not want to lose any of His children. Hurry and change the direction of the money. It is a lost cause: nothing more will be possible to be done with the Enemy of God, declared this 15th of October 2008.

Direct all that money towards rebuilding these countries impoverished by your ill-fated wealth. My LOVE bank shall save all the countries of the entire World which are dying: some from the lack of money, others from having too much, even as far as throwing it into a bottomless pit (YOUR BANKS). Make haste to obey ME.

Jesus Asks Us To Practice Love In Our Life!

Today I was at the 8:00 A.M. Mass at my parish where I made small offerings to Jesus and Mary. In prayer I remembered all with special needs and intentions.

In preparation of receiving the most sacred Body and blood of Christ, I made An Act Of Contrition.

After receiving the sacred Host, I knelt in silent prayer and communion with Christ. Although I did not experience that often felt thumping of my heart within my breast, or the constriction of my throat and the tears that often come, I felt a very intense sense of calm.

After giving thanks and praise to God for all His kindness, I asked (as always) to please remove all distraction from my mind and heart so that should He chose to speak, I would only see/hear that which comes from Him.

Then I prayed, Speak Lord (always if it be His will) Your servant listens. Jesus responded with words from God The Father saying: The Lord your God comes to His people in many different ways, shapes and forms.

Note: These words I took to mean how I felt a different feeling and emotion than is often felt immediately following receiving the sacred Body and Blood of Christ

Therefore, I want all My children to remember in these most difficult times, to reach out a helping hand and actively practice the act of love.

I love you as I love all My children. Go in peace to love and serve the Lord. Continue to pray for your brothers and sisters. Amen.

My discernment: While many of us are giving thanks to God that we are surviving in these difficult times, we must not ignore the family or neighbor who is in great need. For Jesus has told us that He comes to us in many different ways! And He has said I assure you that if you give to the least of My brethren, You have given to Me.

Son, alongside the need to earn your bread to nourish the
body, seek likewise to satisfy the cravings of the soul.
Sanctification is the paramount aim of the soul for the soul
cannot make an outright re-appearance in my home without becoming
holy.

Strive hard to feed the soul the food that is needed thru
prayers, meditating on my words in scriptures, confession and
regular fellowship with your God in worship. Do not grow weary in
helping those in need and in turn worry not for your own needs for
your Father knows what you need and ready to supply them.

Make ready the way for the coming of your Messiah, my Son
Jesus. That is your highest purpose in life ..to prepare the
hearts of people for His next re-appearance.

Set the mind to think that Jesus could come anytime, even today.

Remarks by Lec

The words I heard today sound so simple yet upon reflections later
on, I found out that there is timeliness in this message.

Reading on
the events currently flashed in our mainstream media and the
internet where we can read much more, it cannot be helped but have
an unsettling worry of what the future holds for us in the light of
the economic realities now much too evident to ignore which our news
says have now encompassed the whole world. There is no let up it
seems.

The message today bears much in terms of re-assurance from no other
than the Creator of heaven and earth. The Heavenly Father who wants
to be known as a loving, caring, merciful and protective Father of
all Mankind. Where else can we find the highest form of hope and
comfort except from the Father who knows our every need.

The scripture says, worry not, Seek first the Kingdom of Heaven and
His Righteousness and all these things shall be given to you. Trying
each day to live in holiness and virtue without which we cannot
enter heaven without passing thru Purgatory, the Lord knows how much
we try and in His mercy sends us His graces to walk the narrow road
to His Kingdom. Living in holiness and virtue, our physical needs
are also met because there is no hindrance to our prayers to reach
the throne of God in heaven.

We are also told in spite of the economic conditions of the times
not to deny help to those who are truly in need. The Lord assures
us that by helping others we act in love and this constitutes His
greatest commandment to love others as we love ourselves.

Since my time of embracing the spiritual life back in the early 80s,
I can assure you all that God is faithful in meeting all of our
needs. I have plenty of testimonies on that. He sends help which
arrives at His perfect timing. I have never been in want since I
accepted Jesus as Lord and personal savior.

Dear Friends,

Jesus said, You have heard that it was said, ?You shall love your neighbour and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes the sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust.

For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have? Do not the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brothers only, what is unusual about that? Do not the pagans do the same? So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect. Matthew 5:43 48

Here is another message that Our Lord and Savior has addressed to Joseph. Jesus spoke to him in these words, I know it is not easy to love your enemies. You would prefer to hate such people because they hurt you. They surely are doing the work of the evil one. When I was on earth many people did not recognize Me as their Messiah or Savior.

They told all kinds of lies against Me and how often I was accused of offending God. Even when I performed a healing, some would say that I did it through the power of the devil. Yet I did not hate them. I loved them and I hoped in the future that they would come to believe in Me and follow Me.

So I tell you, do not hate your enemies but instead love them and pray for them. Pray that they will be converted and come to follow Me. Look, Our Heavenly Father lets the sun shine on everyone even His enemies.

The rain falls on the fields of the good as well as on the bad. You are My followers, so you have to rise above the pagans and those who do not believe in Me. In this way you will be following the perfect way of the Christian.

Yes, many of you have enemies and today many hate you because of your faith in Me. The atheists hate you because you oppose their schemes, such as abortion on demand, euthanasia, stem-cell research, etc. Follow Me, My friends, and you will be blessed.

Early morning: October 15, 2008

"No one can build without God's permission, for nothing can withstand if I am not in it", says the Lord GOD.

JESUS: To each of you who participated in any way to this Work of GOD, in the distribution of the books "Witnesses of the Cross", and the elevation of the CROSSES OF LOVE, you are, each and all, a witness who must see the completion of this Work, by participating with your individual testimony, in your life, to what GOD is asking from each of His workers.

A work comes to fruition with every one of the participants helped by the Spirit of GOD dwelling in us, who manifests Himself through the choice of the Almighty, in each one who is the most worthy, at the Time of that particular work.

The choice of GOD does not correspond to the wish or even to the perfection of the person. GOD directs His Work and sets His Spirit to work in the Heart of one who usually does not know it, and discovers it only in the obedience of one's own life, in following the footsteps of the Lord, wherever He orders it, and through the acceptance of suffering, not in obedience, but rather through one's own rule, for it is joined to that of the Lord's CROSS.

This is why she became the first "Witness of the CROSS", the name I gave to My Work, and the name that she deserved to have through the same Cross

Eucharist: the Source of Life!

John 14:6

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by Me."

It is a whimsical fact that a huge number of anti-Catholics spend enormous quantities of energy trying to prove that Catholics "worship Mary." Even in an age of mass communication, this goofy 19th-century Know-Nothing charge is still leveled by people who really ought to know better.

And, of course, as with all such goofy charges (sustainable only by the ability to read minds) the Catholic has a simple reply: "I don't worship Mary." The reply is based on a simple fact: if you cannot read minds, the only way you can know what somebody worships is to ask them. If they say they do not worship Mary then that's that. End of story.

Yet the golden opportunity (tactically speaking) that many such critics of the Faith overlook is this: though Catholics don't worship Mary, we do worship the Eucharist.

We really do hail it as the "source of our life" and adore it exactly as we adore God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Of course, it's still not idolatry for the simple reason that Catholics believe Jesus wasn't kidding when He said "this is My body" and that to worship Jesus is what the Christian faith is all about.

In a thousand different ways, you must reflect the light of Christ through your lives of prayer and joyful service of others.

Mother Teresa -
We need to give Christ a chance to make use of us to be his word and his work. If we do not radiate the light of Christ around us, the sense of darkness that prevails in the world will increase. The people around us should be able to recognize him by our union with God.

Padre Pio - If we want a harvest, planting is not so important as sowing the seeds in a good field. When these become plants, great care must be taken that the tender little plants are not suffocated by weeds.

The Destruction of Responsibility
"Hardly anyone today challenges the view that character is made by outside or external influences, such as home background, schooling, poverty or wealth, the propaganda to which an individual was subjected and the neighborhood in which he was raised.

This view could lead to the destruction of responsibility if carried to extremes - and responsibility, it must not be forgotten, is the mark of freedom."

Jan 24 - ST. FRANCIS DE SALES

The Blessed Mother speaks of holiness today:

"Dear children, today I again call you to pray with your whole heart and to change your life day by day. I especially ask you, dear children, to live in holiness through your prayer and sacrifices. I desire that each of you who have been to this fountain of grace shall come to paradise one day and present to me a special gift--that of your holiness.

Therefore, dear children, pray and change your life that it may become holy. I will always be close to you. (Weekly Messages November 13,1986)

St. Paul's letter to the Ephesians also deals with holiness:

You were taught to put away your former way of life, your old self, corrupt and deluded by its lusts, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to clothe yourselves with the new self, created according to the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness (Eph 4:22-24)

Reflection:

St. Francis de Sales exemplified holiness in his life, which was characterized by a supreme trust in God. Born at Savoy in 1567, he worked tirelessly to restore Catholicism to his country after Reformation. Later, as Bishop of Geneva, he became renowned for his compassion to his people and priests. Because of his insightful writings he was later proclaimed a Doctor of the Church.

The following excerpt from his classic work, The Devout Life, deals with trust, that mark of holiness which Our Lady and St. Paul speak of today: In all your affairs, rely wholly on God's providence...Imitate little children, who with one hand hold fast to their father, and with the other hand gather strawberries or blackberries along the hedges.

So too, as you gather and handle the goods of this world with one hand, you must with the other always hold fast the hand of your heavenly Father, turning yourself toward him from time to time to see if your actions or occupations be pleasing to him.

Above all things, take heed that you never leave his hand or think to gather more or to gain some advantage. For should he forsake you, you will not be able to go a step further without falling to the ground.

Application: Today, through the intercession of St. Francis, pray for a deep trust in God that banishes all fear and doubt.

Medjugorje Day By Day Jan 23 - BELIEVE IN HIS CURE

Whenever I go to the chapel, I put myself in the presence of our good Lord, and I say to him, 'Lord, I am here. Tell me what you would have me to do ' . . . . And then, I tell God everything that is in my heart. I tell him about my pains and my joys, and then I listen.

If you listen, God will also speak to you, for with the good Lord, you have to both speak and listen. God always speaks to you when you approach him plainly and simply" (St. Catherine Laboure).

Mother Teresa -
Sacrifice and prayer complement each other. There is no prayer without sacrifice, and there is no sacrifice without prayer. That is what Jesus has shown us. Jesus' life was spent in intimate union with his Father as he passed through this world doing good. We need to do the same.

Meditations by Padre Pio -
Let us never oppose the designs of divine providence, which, alternating joys with tears in the life of the individual and of nations, leads them to the achievements of our last end. Let us look beyond the appearances of the hand of man to discover the hidden hand of God.

We need to help illuminate the world

"We do not make children give up writing because they spill the ink. The world is discouraged enough; it needs encouragement, inspiration, good example, above all, it will be happier when it sees a standard and a Redeemer Who invites us away from the dark side: "I am the Light of the world; whoever follows Me, shall not walk in darkness" (John 8: 12).

As God has made us sharers in His mercy and even more than that, dispensers of that mercy, we should therefore have great love for each soul, beginning with the elect and ending with the soul that does not yet know God.

We will bear in mind that a soldier on the front line cannot hold out long without support from the rear forces that do not actually take part in the fighting but provide for all his needs; and that such is the role of prayer, and that therefore each one of us is to be distinguished by an apostolic spirit. And always and in everything, their intention should be pure, for every sort of mixed motive is displeasing to God. They should accuse themselves of all external transgressions, and ask the superior for a penance. They should do this in a spirit of humility.

They should love one another with a sublime love, with a pure love, seeing God's likeness in every sister. Love should be the special characteristic of this little community, so they must not close up their hearts, but embrace the whole world, rendering mercy to every soul through prayer, according to their calling. If we live in this spirit of mercy, we ourselves will obtain mercy. (550)

Jan 23 - BELIEVE IN HIS CURE

In the first week of the apparitions, the parents of a deaf and mute child asked the visionaries to intercede on behalf of the boy. The seers asked the Virgin to cure the child so that people would believe them. She responded:

Have them firmly believe in his cure. Go in the peace of God (First Years June 29, 1981).

Little Daniel Setka was cured later that same evening In the gospels, Christ also focused on faith as the foundation of healing:

Then suddenly a woman who had been suffering from hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his cloak, for she said to herself, "If I only touch his cloak, I will be made well." Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, "Take heart daughter; your faith has made you well." And instantly the woman was made well. (Mt 9:20-22).

Reflection:

The power of faith is limitless: it heals, consoles, and strengthens. But the opposite is also true. Once when Jesus was visiting Nazareth, he could work no miracles there because the people's lack of faith distressed him so.

How to deepen our faith? Cardinal Newman once said: "It is love that makes faith, not faith love." And Our Lady gives this answer: "Faith will not know how to be alive without prayer. Therefore, pray!" (October 10, 1981)

The healing of the handicapped child in Medjugorje; the cure of the hemorrhaging woman in Matthew's gospel, were both dependent of faith. May our own healing of body, mind, or spirit also be the fruit of our expectant faith.

Application:
Pray today for a deeper faith; ask for healing if you are in need. Assist someone who is sick through your presence of prayers.

SHORT POWERFUL PRAYER THROUGH ST. JOSEPH

"Glorious St. Joseph, tenderhearted father, faithful
guardian of Jesus, chaste spouse of the Mother of
God, I ask you to join me in praising God the Father
through His Divine Son who died on the cross and
rose again to give us sinners new life. Through the
Holy Name of Jesus, pray with me that we may obtain
from the eternal Father the favor we ask. (here
state your intention)."

Say this prayer for nine consecutive days.

Fear not! God is your shelter (the 23rd Psalm and the Lord’s Prayer. God never fails. Don’t fail him. Call on Jesus. Jesus on the mainline, tell him what you want!
